Sorry. Real Grip Reduction will be used.

Also - people were having connection issues during qualifying, so I changed to;

Fixed Room Ownership

No Voice Chat

I suggest we should use this, as usual I want to hear what you guys think.

also turning visible damage off may help, it did drastically in gt5

Sounds good, Visible Damage off will likely help too

Fixed room host, won't that kick everyone out if you disconnect?

We were wondering how you would handle a disconnect by the host since you can't get in again if you do disconnect.

Yeah, visible damage off, and the usual reboot PS3 and clear cache. I usually have race quality set to standard, rather than very high. This helps those who dont have such a good connection. Also having a wired connection is obviously much more stable than wireless. Having UPnP available and enabled will also help the room. Fixed room ownership will boot everyone if you DC though.

Yeah, before entering AJs lobby, reboot PS3, (switch PS3 off then on again) and then clear cache in the options/network menu. This will be more important for network teams who will be joining repeatedly. Also, about the race quality settings. I believe that this only affects the replay from a race, as it doesnt save as much detail. As this race will be in a practice lobby, there will be no difference to the quality, if a lower setting is chosen.

^ A very interesting idea. From personal experience (around the Nurburgring), I felt that the higher Race Quality settings, the more the car moved around (specifically oversteer). Having said that it's entirely plausible it was just the placebo effect and I've never even considered the replay idea.

Having said that on High, rooms seem to be as reliable as you can expect from GT/PSN so I would suggest just leaving it as it has been?

Race Day Timetable

- All times In Game Time (UTC+2)

- when drivers leave the pits (14:55:00-14:56:50) they may use reasonable speed to catch up with the rest of the grid.

- once drivers join the parade lap, they must not exceed
50mph/80kph
- if you sustain damage before reaching the rest of the grid, you may reset to the pits, and wait until all cars taking the start have passed the pit exit, before joining the race.

- if you sustain damage after reaching the rest of the grid, stop at the side of the track before resetting to the pits, wait until all cars taking the start have passed the pit exit before joining the race.

- no overtaking before the line

- this is a 24 hour race, it can't be won on the first few laps, you are not Allan McNish, take it easy!

Please note the Hot Zones on the stint changes.

Last chance for Q&A guys, if you are unsure about ANYTHING, ask now, no question too stupid.

If we're down a lap, can we still battle against someone in your class?

Yes.

You do not have to let by cars in the same class as you.

You do should make it easy for cars in a higher class to you to get passed cleanly.

Say I come up on a GT-S class car. What side of the track should either of us be on.

In a the lower class car should keep to the racing line.

On the straights, if the lower class car decides to move to the side of the track, he should move to the side of the track nearest to him. i.e. not swerve across the track.

Common sense and predictability will be key. Diving down the inside late on the brakes is not going to end well 9/10 times. The classes have enough speed differential that passing on the straights should be easy. Be patient.

What are "Hot Zones"?

If you look at - Network Team Driver Change Time Slots, there are many with no line spaces, these are where change over times are consecutive and it is critical that teams stay on schedule.

So if we are a lap down, on a car in the same class, we don't allow them to pass but race as if we were battling for position?

What happens if someone dcs?

Re-join as soon as you can. When you do, take a photo before leaving the pits like a new stint.

If I DC, Red Flag.
I will set up a new lobby asap.
As soon as I do, I will make a post and Green Flag.
The finish time will not change (15:00) the exact time will be shown on the post.
In either case we will look at compensating laps after the event.

Hmm... looking at the driver pit windows, I appear to have lost half an hour of seat time...

Any chance we can change our first stop to 18:10-18:20?

I gotta say that all my wet track practice has been with grip reduction on low as that was in the OP/settings.

I always race with it on real but as this was set to low I've been running low based on the advertised room settings.

I'm not a fan of changing the grip in weather on the day of the race when rain is all but guaranteed, the difference in grip is noticeable and the race is one that we all are taking seriously.

If it remains on real then so be it but I'd like to see it revert back to the settings we've all been practising for.

I thought it's been on real the entite time?

It was on low in the settings in the OP, I didn't question it and ran with the settings as they were.

Edit: still is showing low in the room settings part of the OP

Pages back somewhere johnny someone had asked about the settings being on low grip. I'd have to find the post, but i'm pretty sure it was said they would stay on low. I was taken aback by the sudden switch as well today.

I do not want to stir waves here either but that is how our team has been practicing also. I will support the Race Director and Race Stewards with whatever decision they come to about it though.

If memory serves a decision was never actually taken; most people's reservations about running Real grip reduction focused on how erratic the game's weather engine could be, however research undertaken by severn (Page 9) showed this could be controlled to give teams far more time to react appropriately.

Personally I support running Real because I feel it brings a greater tactical element to the racing, however I also have to say it does seem a little late to change on the eve of raceday so it would need the consent of the teams.
