How did you guys beat the 24 hour endurance races? did you just play all day then leave your ps2 on to go to sleep then again all day? i want that F1 car but i dont think ill have the patience to play for 24 hours :grumpy:

I would B-Spec most of the race, and A-Spec if I got tired of watching. I only have one endurance race to go (24HR Circuit de la Sarthe II).

If your Bspec driver is good enough, he will win the race for you. All you have to do is just to leave your PS2 on for 24 hours, turn off your TV set and go do whatever you need to do, then come back to collect the money and prize car. Or you can sit infront of your TV set, watch him run. change the race speed by X3 in race monitor menu, so the whole 24hours becomes 8 hours of our real life time.

I B-Specced all of the 24 hour endurances. I sat there for over 9 hours for each one, and I will NEVER do them without cheating again. EVER.

either you play for a couple of hours or so and leave your playstation on for 2 days or you use the B-spec fella 50-50 but the problem is that my B-spec driver sucks and i can't make him push and leave the telly unattented or he'll screw it up big time and you don't know it...

you guys who have good B-spec points, does that make your B-spec driver much better so he doesn't looses heaps of time anymore and how many points are needed to make for a competent computer team-mate?

thanks for the tip, also do they make their own pit stops then and do it on the right time or do you have to set this all yourself (pitstops-fuel loads-tyrechoice)before the race? (haven't looked into B-spec much so forgive me asking)

I have alittle bit over 8,000 B-spec pts. And he runs fine by himself, the only time he screws up is when the tires are so red and he is goin to pit, he seems always lose it at the end of the long straight. Other than that, he seems scared to overtake other slower cars infront of him, but eventually he will pass them on the straight way where he feels safe to overtake. I always leave it on 3 for him.

Just start B-Spec'n it around lunch, and go about your day, then the next day when ya wake up, you should have an F1 car. Thats what I did atleast. 👍

lol where the hell is the race monitor menu..ive been looking for 20 minutes :(

ok buddy, this is what you do: enter the race by choosing B-spec. Soon the race starts, you press R1 botton. it will switches to the race monitor, then you press and hold L1, move right D-pad twice. the race speed will be 3times faster than real life time.

the 24 hr endurance races will probably be the last thing that i will do. I have the game 94.5% done and did not even think about trying one of them yet.

I've only done the Nurburgring 24 hour.

I fired the PS2 up around 2am. Got my B-Spec guy going in a car that would crush them (didn't want to have to leave the PS2 on that long and NOT win it). Let him start, went to X3 speed, went to sleep.

Woke up in the middle of the night. Turned TV on, bumped it to X3 (irritating it resets every pitstop) and went back to bed.

Got up next morning, turned the TV on, and basically did other things, leaving it on. Whenever I noticed it was back to regular speed, I'd bump it to X3.

I think it wound up finishing in around 14 hours, realtime.

But if you dont do the Nurburing 24h. how can you compete in Formula GT Championship?

There is a post in the write up section from a guy who won the F1 series with an
Audi R8 LMP car. That could be how. I did The Ring 24 hr by starting at night and waking up periodically to reset the 3x, went to work in the morning and when I returned I had my F1 waiting.

Damn.. how do you guys get your b-spec driver good? i have a fast ass car but my driver just stays behind the 5th car and never makes a move.. pissin me off

yeah you need to instruct him when to pass, does he do it without those instructions also or does all passing happen with the pit stops? so what is a good strategy then having a superior car and a capable B-spec driver (8000 points), then you set his pace on normal the whole time? because if you would set him on push for 24hrs he would probably do a kamikaze...

I only b-spec the 24 hours races. I won the Ring in a Toyota 7 with 0 point on my b-spec driver. Won the Sarthe 1 race with the Nissan R89 as his 2nd race. I never have any trouble winning with b-spec. He only has 2200 points right now. Maybe your pit strategies are bad??? If you get it right the gas and tires should run out on the same lap. And I experiment a lot to get the tires right before I let him go on his own.

After setting yet another B-Spec Endurance race going this morning, I have come to the conclusion that they are a waste of time. Thing is, I want the super cars that are won through the Endurance races, but I have neither the time nor the inclination to race around Nurburg for 24hrs, or to perform 100 laps of an oval track. So the only other choice is B-Spec with a car that will easily win (don't want to come back after 8 hours minimum to find you are second!).

I would have much prefared these cars to have been winable through hard fought races than through loooooooooong, tedious races. Even the ability to save a race part way through would have helped, so you could have chizeled away at it when ever you fancied.

As they stand, for me (and I know some of you guys have been brave enough to tackle them A-Spec) they are a pointless excerise in getting the biggest prizes with the least amount of effort.

As most, B-spec'd the 24 hour Nurburgring, used the Nissan Fairlady LM concept. only problem I had was a tank of petrol only lasted 4 laps, as did the super hard tires, this was with pace set to 1....Still won the race by a good 10 laps though...I'll probably try differnt cars for the other races, see if I can get better mileage.

i agree, only a serious geek would do it A-spec, even the 4 hours nurburg endurance is too much to do it in one go, and setting it on 3 times the speed is also a bit stupid but it's the only way, as i hear it here most of you do it b-spec and wonder off till the next day, and when you come back you have an F1 in the garage while you've done nothing of effort so what's the point then of putting those day long races in GT4 if nobody is silly enough to do them...

maybe in GT5 it would be more enjoyable to do a 24hrs if you have 20 opponents and changing weather conditions, most important is that day changes into night and back that would make things far more rewarding and realistic.

I have B specced almost all my endurance races, mainly coz I don't have the time to do them myself. Even now, B spec Bob is being honored with the task of winning some of my F1 races, at least I can trust him now. 👍

Serious Geek? Oh dear...............that would be me then. I made it my mission to do the whole game without touching B-spec, so I did all the enduros myself. Including 24h Nurb in one sitting, and the Sarthe's over the course of a week. It's basically just a question of how much you want to do it - If you think the whole deal is stupid, then do it B-spec and go to bed. If you'd like to drive it, then do it like Famine over a number of days (don't worry the PS2 won't blow up) or in stints with some friends - at least with some mates helping it won't be so boring.

If you're the kind of obsessive fool like I am, and you've got a few days to spare (you'll need at least one to recover) then do it in one go. Just make sure you have plenty of coffee and snacks!

Hey what kind of a tire/setting (1-5) are you guys using? I did it with the CLK Touring car the first time with Hard racing tires at setting 3. It won buy 6 laps but it pitted every 3 laps with about 1/2 tank of gas. The next day i tried Super hard tires, it went 5 laps but was down to the last little gas indicator on the fuel gauge when it pitted. Does Bob know to pit if it will not make it another lap even if the tires are still ok? That would s_ck if it was stupid enough not to pit for gas

...Does Bob know to pit if it will not make it another lap even if the tires are still ok?...

Usually he does, but we've seen reports of him sometimes doing some pretty judgement-challenged things on the 'Ring.

The length of the track is the issue, of course. He doesn't always calculate perfectly, it appears, and gets a bit screwed up at times. Many have reported him trying to go too far on worn-out tires and spinning out while trying to get into the pits, missing the entrance entirely, and going on for another full lap, creeping along out of gas, with day-glow red tires...

The only way im going to survive the 'ring 24 is buy having mates over to do it.
Ill post a dairy of how it goes when we do it on wednesday and all feel free to add me to your msn so you can view our 24H webcam
