24 Hours of Nurburgring: can it be done alone and in real time?

I want to see you go for it! Simulate some longer 'real-life' pit stops with perhaps an hour break half way in (call it a breakdown or something).

I'm looking forward to the write up.

I did the 24h races alone. Each day i drove about 7-8h, it took me 3 days with X1 ofcourse. Then i parked it when i calculated that i have enough gap to the finish and picked up the prizes. . But every 1h i paused the game and took a break 15 min (eating,drinking...) only my eyes were hurting me a bit because i was all day long in my room and playing.... but i did it. Impossible for me to do it in one go. Life is more important than a video game. So always take breaks and u will do it with no problems. Or if you want you can do it in one go, but dont blame me if you cant reach the phone and call 911 after the race.

Pausing for this long would feel a bit like cheating unless we're pretending that every car in the field is suddenly stricken with engine trouble all at the same time. :sly: I'm also concerned about taking more than a few minute break because any longer and I may be tempted to lie down or even just close my eyes, and then it would be over.

I would imagine the G25 would be fine. It would just decrease it's life span. The wear on it will definitely accelerate during the race.

I've tried this with a group of friends and even then it's hard. We paused the game after 120 laps at about 2 or 3 am. We were having a great time but I can't imagine doing this alone as it will probably get very boring.

The game got unpaused during the day and when we wanted to started again after watching a F1 race we were too far behind to win and gave up. So I also still need to get this 24hour races. I'm waiting for the midrace save and will proably get a group together again without the risk of losing our progress:D

Staring at a screen/monitor for 24 hours straight is bad for your eyes, especially tired eyes.

True.
Is important to have a good illumination in your room, and having a soft bright in your TV/screen... (but not too soft)
The distance between your eyes and the screen is important too...

Whe pausing or doing a pit stop, close you eyes for a while, and try to relax them.

Good points. I get headaches if I play in a dark room anyway, so I will definitely be playing in a well-lit room. I may dim the lights during the night portion just for immersion, but since the screen will be darker as well, I figure it'll even out.

Given how I normally place my rig, I would guess that my eyes are about 6ft away from a 55" screen. I sit much further back for normal gaming, but for racing, I find that the more of my vision is filled by the screen, the better. I may move back a bit during this particular race, though.
