Hello All,

I'm going to start putting together real life racing scenarios in a time friendly manner and want to kick of with the most prestigious of all races - The 24 Hours of Le Mans (Circuit De La Sarthe). To cut this to a sensible time I propose to do 24 Lap race rather than 24 hour but start during the day, go through the night and finish of back in the day time again.

I want to do this a bit different to normal online racing and include classes into the mix. Just like the real race there will be the following classes with a prize car awarded to the winner of each class.

LMP1 - 800hp / 900kg limit.
Audi R10 TDI
Peugeot 908 HDI FAP
Bentley Speed 8
Audi R8
Pescarolo Judd / Courage / Hybride

LMGT1 - 700hp / 1200 kg limit (Aero Mods Allowed)
Saleen S7-R
Pagani Zonda R
Corvette C5R
Ford GT LM Spec II
Lamborghini Murcielago LP640
Audi R8 LMS

LMGT2 - 600hp / 1200 kg limit (Aero Allowed)
Ferrari 430
BMW M3 / GTR
Spyker C8
Aston Martin DB9
RUF BTR / Yellowbird
Jaguar XKR

To keep this realistic and save a field full of Stealth R10's I would like to limit it to something like 5 x LMP1's, 5 x LMGT1's and 6 LMPGT2's. As i've said the point of this race is to win your class not the overall race.

Traction Control will be allowed as some of these cars are simply un-drivable without, however ASM, Driving Line & Active Steering will all be banned. Damage will also be set high to discourage the agressive drivers we all seem to find online.

If anyone can think of any cars that I have missed from each category please let me know what you think....

Your thoughts please :)

This looks great, though i may suggest making it a simpler track first, and allowing more cars for each class then just having 2 seperate races. But that is time consuming. I think this could be very very very cool though.

EDIT Definently missing the GT40s and Shelby's. Maybe it'd be cool to allow Caterhams........ Or even a classics class. WOOOW this could be awesome.

I would actually do a separate race for the classics such as the GT40's etc on the old style Le Mans circuit. The idea is to have modern race cars for this race to keep the realism aspect of the race. As I said this is an idea for a race series through and starting out with Le Mans is simply because of my love of the great race!

Other plans are Classic Le Mans, Nurburgring 24hr, Monaco GP, GT Championship Races, Daytona Endurance even NASCAR! The possibilities are endless!!

I love the idea.

I'd love to take part in this - It's the exact sort of thing I was looking forward to about the online aspects of GT5.

You need to put the Oreca Viper in the lineup though. That thing's a LeMans legend.

Love this idea! Eventually we could do stuff like the Nurburgring 24 and such, man, I would really love to get on some endurance racing with other guys that are just as excited about it as I am.

I'll keep trying to think of other famous legendary series we could do. Maybe the Indy 500? Although that would have to be in the future as the Formula GT cars are hard to get.

Then there's Monaco... Daytona 24hrs...

It's a bit limited as is with our present track selections but I wouldn't mind turning this into a full out Le Mans endurance series, would be great.

That would definitely interest me.

Maybe rather 2 classes of 8 cars would be a more interesting race. With LMP cars and GT cars in separate classes. The list of eligible cars would still be large enough.

Same here, I was a bit disappointed that alot of people don't take online racing seriously. I went into a room last night to practice some laps of La Sarthe (night) with other LMP1's and all they were doing was crashing into each other.

The Oreca Viper is indeed a Le Mans legend but its not currently racing, hence will be in a 'classic' race

Excellent idea! Would love this. Any idea if this will go ahead and when you are planning it? I'm in the UK so not sure how this will match up with the different timezones when you plan to run the race...

Would be very interested in this.

Perhaps we could run a modern race, a '90s race, an '80s race and a pre-'80s race in future? I want to get my Calsonic GT-R out there. :)

Definately up for classics, 80's & 90's Le Mans.

As i said in a previous post this is a 'taster' event, to see how well it all comes together.

I'm going to run a practice room tonight around 8pm GMT, I'l post up the room number.

Alternatively add me on PSN - HMSMotorsport.

EDIT I'm having a practice run atm if anyone wants to join in - room number is:

1472 - 6118 - 3658 - 4758 - 7159

This is an excellent idea. 24 laps is long enough to bring all sorts of strategy into the race while still being short enough to not impose on people's lives too much. I like the multiple class idea also, keeps the cars mixing while giving the people in slower classes something to shoot for.

And I just bought a M3 GTR the other night... :)

Can't we have touring cars or something?

Also I think you shoudl remove the option for the yellowbird, mine is under both of those requirements but still goes 227mph

I've got a question, are the weight/HP limits the maximum allowed, or the minimum allowed? The limits for LMGT1 are 700 HP and 1200 kg, but my Zonda R (which you list in the category) is 829 HP and 1070 kg with modifications removed.

They are set as a limit, so you can not go over them, granted they need a bit of revision.

Ah, thanks. Another car that's listed but doesn't fit the limits is the Ford GT LM Race Car Spec II, it's stock weight is 1130 kg and the limit for its category is 1200 kg. (and the RUF BTR too)

Im interested

In all honesty I think 3 classes is too much for a 16 car field. LMP & GT1 should do

I'd be interested in this, depending on time. I'd be looking to use either my Alfa 8C I think, which I could probably tune to either of the GT categories. It just depends on whether you want to keep GT1 as just proper racecars or not.

Count me in, I'm going to use my 908 HDi FAP, all standard with no modification.
I've been using it a lot, it got around 7k in the odometer so far, love that car.

I would like to get in on this. I would prefer LMGT2 or LMGT1. I think the LMP1 cars are a bit beyond my capabilities at the present time.

I'm interested. Just make sure we do this on this coming Sunday or AFTER that. I won't be at my PS3 until then. (I'm in NY right now. I live in AK  )
I'll try and grind credits as i perform my plan to restart my savegame to get a Peugeot 908 HDI. I'll run LMP1 for fun and also because i love the 908.
