I know there's a million of these threads but i need a bit of extra help on beating this, i managed to make it all the way through the 24 minutes in the Mazda 787b and in the last corners before the pits, the car's tires just gave up and everyone overtook me and won.

Can i get help with a tune for the mazda for its handling or anything? or any suggested cars for this event? i have the R18 TDI as well by the way.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated :)

Peugeot 905b, the old gasoline one. Race Softs and pit after the 3rd lap, add a little extra gas than the computer suggests and again with the Race Softs.

Personally I ran out of gas at mid 3rd lap with the 905b. I won it with the R8 race car '01 BUT I ran out of gas at the second to last turn before entering the pit losing about 30 sec but I managed to win by about 30 sec! I think the key is to pit only twice since the AI rabbit do so. It also depend of which car line up you get at the start. After many attempts, the nemesis in my winning run was also an R8 '01. Good luck

I forgot to mention I turned the downforce down as low as it goes and make the 3rd lap fine.

I don´t know if I somehow managed to maximize the AI rubber band effect but I managed to win easily despite just driving extremely poorly and pitting three times with the most awful pit strategy. I found no way deselecting tires when pitting so put on new hard racing tires every other lap ;) My Pescarolo could only do 2 laps on a fuel stint so I had to pit three times without excessive fuel saving. But due to the rain I opted for max wing. I have done a real 24h lemans in rFactor 2 at SimHQ previously and there we of course used a low wing setup.

I am sure you can tweak the rev limiter in the setup or it´s just enough with very low wing to do 3 laps but anyway despite my three pit stops I got out of the pits together with the second runner and then it was just a stroll in the park.

I had 5 visits in the sand and I think I lost some 30-40 seconds on accidents so I was like a big question mark when I got out on the last lap in the lead...

I did some previous attempts in a rocket but I got so owned on the first laps by the lmps I never thought that could work. But if the AI is like this very possible.

I think the critical time is the final stint... I opted for a pit stop every second lap... but on the final go I had to stretch for 3 laps... I had to fuel save on the final lap, up to top gear early, short shifting... When I was pitting after two laps I had to take on 67litres of fuel (From 100) so I guess it could have gone 3 laps... just.

If you do run out of motion Lotion you will lose power and crawl along at 60mph (What ever it feels escargot slow.)

Tyres - In the wet, Race Hards lasted very well and gripped the track enough ... when the track dries, they can chunk up alarmingly - smooth braking an short shifting will prevent ... okay reduce tyre wear if you run TCS=0 ABS=0.

I ran a Bentley Speed 8 - I don't think it has any advantages over anything - I think I just got lucky the AI cars pitted that were out of synchronisation with me. If the race was to the end of 8 laps rather than 7 I would have lost my race pitting for fuel or on track running out of fuel!

Bonne chance, as they say in France.

I used the 2013 Deltawing and was able to win without needing to pit at all

Done it twice today with two different cars.

Deltawing - racing softs all around, it'll last almost the whole race.

Bentley Speed 8 - racing softs all around, pit on lap 3 for a full tank and fresh set of racing softs, and then again at the end of lap 5 to carry through to lap 6 and 7. Very very easy win with this one..

.1 - Use the Pescarolo Courage C60 - Peugeot '03
.2 - Buy some Racing Softs and the High RPM Range Turbo kit
.3 - Set the Max Speed to 230MPH, Racing Softs and Traction Control to 1
.4 - Start the race
.5 - Pit at the end of lap 3 for 95 litres of fuel and a set of Racing Hards
.6 - Pit at the end of lap 7 for 50 litres of fuel and a set of Racing Softs
.7 - Win the race comfortably by over 30 seconds

Setting your strategies aside, what were you winner's respective lap times like? 3:50's, 40's, 30's?
The rubberbanding on the Mulsanne is killing me, and trying to stay with the top two cars just gets me run off the road anytime I get near their great 'GT Granite block immovable object AI physics'. ARRRRggghhh:banghead:

No idea, never looked at them :D
All I know... I was first by lap 3 and never looked back. I could have avoided the last pit too, as I was well in front and had some fuel and tyres left, but I pitted just in case.
So, trust me, so far, this is the simplest way to win this race IMO :D

I used a stock Sauber C9 on racing hard tyres, it's easily fast enough, just pit every 3 laps and you'll still win by a mile. Think I ran 3:36.xxx for most of the race.

The R18 is not a good car for the race as the lights do not work very well at all.

The Audi R8 stock with RS tires made it a cake walk I even pitted a second time just to make sure I had good tires at the end and still won easily by 30 seconds and I did not really drive it hard

3:30-3:40 range for non-pit laps, 4:05-4:15ish for pit stop laps.

The most success I've had has been with 3-stop strategies, typically winning those runs by well over a minute ahead of 2nd place.

In my frustration I forgot to mention I was using the stock Bentley.

However, I jumped in the Sauber C9 and just walked away from everyone, So I'll just accept that as my solution. Changed the transmission to 249mph and ran racing softs with two pit stops on laps 3 and 5. I will add that I didn't realize how much the stinkin' wiper blade was imparing my vision with the Bentley. Having the greater field of view in the Sauber helped immensely during the dark hours minutes.

3:30ish on the stock Bentley.

so the deltawing has a bigger fuel tank or he just don't use that much fuel???
you don' have to pit with that car

i tried with 2 different cars (minolta en audi R10) and i have to pit every 2 laps for fuel

DeltaWing just doesn't use much fuel. It's a small engine, making around 300-400hp depending on which model you're using. Small engine, light weight, minuscule frontal area = great fuel economy.

I did this a few days ago with the Gillet Vertigo Race Car '04 And made it around the 3rd lap with just enough fuel to reach the pit lane.

I used RS tyres for the first stint, pit at end of lap 3 for RH tyres and a full tank of fuel, and then a quick pit stop at the end of lap 6 for RS tyres and 35 ltrs fuel.

Pull up at the finish line at the end of the 7th lap and when the time runs out [If it hadn't before you got there] cross the line, second place should be rolling up the pit lane by then so you have to get the timing spot on or he may take the win from the pits.

I don't know if this scenario works the same with any other cars because I have not tried any others yet, but I will at some point.

Use the Audi R10 Stealth Model. Its 1200+hp and pit in every 2 laps using racing hard. Cut the corners on the long straight and use Racing Soft on the last 2 laps.
