24 or 12 hour race/fun ride would be cool

Would'nt it be fun if GT5 had a 24 or 12 hour race fun ride online event?!?! You could race if you wanted or you could just drive around the track at your own pace. Apply the possible damge, headlights, and wipers and it would be so fun. Any other thoughts?

Yes, i have learned the hard way that the console crowd is not really into this..
Every darn time i tried setting up a 1 hour endurance race (just 1 hour!) people would just leave after 10 minutes and go back to play 2 lap races or gears of war... it sucks.

There is a very little crowd that is into this, and you will need to set these races up first through home (hopefully) and/or the internet/forums like these.

It's always the case with online racing.. even short races, people WILL leave as soon as they realise they have no chance of winning the race.. they will either start driving backwards and screw up everybody's race, or just leave the game.

It does get annoying, this s why whenever I raced online(in F2) it was normally part of a league or with people from the league.

True, true. I've personally experienced this whilst playing Race Driver: Grid. The fools drive backwards and the people who try to get 1st place should at least complete the entire race.
 
I wish they are implementing trackdays into GT5.. you know?

I am always down for a endurance race, and we should set it up (list of clean endurance racers) once the game is out.
 
When the game comes out, maybe we can schedule things for the gtp folk on certain weekends. You could also come and go as needed.
 
Track days is possible. Just like the events on Xbox live though I wouldn't race but drift and do possible crazy things in a tuned 240sx that will most likely lead me to be kicked from the room because people don't like it on Forza.

There are too many cheaters on Grid but on the other hand I have had some great battles as well - not everyone rams you off. But all it takes is 1 guy to go backwards and the whole race is ruined...

As for the idea about a 24h thing, I guess you could have an event where people can join mid-race and just drive for fun. When they join they'll start from the pit lane, and when they leave there'll be another vacancy.

I'm starting to think though, that 24h is a little extreme for a "driving session". Maybe down to 8h or less. Though I would want the weather and time to go by faster than realtime, that way we would get to drive in different conditions. Once again, Damage, Headlights, and Wipers would just make this so awsome (And Complete:):) Ahhhh).

I love Enduros, the lemans is so dam epic, my favourite races in GT4 and previous ones were infact the enduros, I did participate in a sim-racing.de 24 hour last year in June this was a Rfactor Lemans event and it was good fun even though we didnt finish, but the team work is amazing not to mention the pressure :P, and those stupid GRID drivers who drive backwards can be sorted, just let polyphony add sometype of system where if you drive the wrong way for more then 10 seconds you get DNF'd right away.

In GT5:P backwards or erratic drivers are ghosted anyway - so that *shouldn't* matter anyways.

Indeed, but PD should sort out the issue of errant drivers who (once having crashed into you), don't get a penalty for idiotic driving.

Race kind of got lost back in the beginning of the thread, but I said up there race/funride.
 
i would come home after a big weekend or after playing at a rave still awake 2 days in and i would do a 12+ hour race just cause i know i wasn't ready to sleep yet ;)

I would guess they will have this in this one also... they cant not have it in there if le mans is in the game.. c'mon now haha
 
If there were 24 hour endurance races (or any kind of endurance race really) you should be able to like, switch drivers over an online game. For example: Driver A and Driver B are on a team. Driver starts the race, and when he pits, Driver B takes over the car and does his stint, and then Driver A takes over again when he pits.

That would be a cool option imo.
 
The only way I'd play a race that long is if it was a LAN thing with several friends. A few of us play together (against other people online) for a few hours while the rest of us just, ya know, do other stuff :p Then swap every few hours. I could never sit alone in my room for that long playing 1 race on 1 track with 1 car without feeling extermely depressed by the end of it that I'd wasted a whole day :p

You know, I kinda feel that way also a little bit. Like I said though, maybe 8 hours or less. That would be better.

EDIT: Also, it would only be GTP people (I hope).
