I was on the mopar website looking at stuff for the new neon r/t.
i was amazed to find that with a $300 stage one turbo kit the neon puts out 240 hp. a stock neon r/t goes from 0 - 60 mph in 5 seconds. i have not yet found the 0 - 60 time with the turbo, but its probably pretty good. it's a nice little car for $21,000, but in the end, it's still just a neon.

1) That's the Neon SRT you're talking about, not the R/T. The R/T has a 150-hp/150-tq naturally aspirated engine with a 2-stage active intake manifold that really beefs up the torque curve.

2) The stock R/T does not go 0-60 in 5 seconds. That's also the SRT, wihich is factory turbocharged. And it's 5.8 or 5.9 seconds, anyway.

3) It's actually substantially more than just a Neon. That's rather like saying a Plymouth GTX is just a Belvidere or a GTO is just a Tempest. And given that "just a Neon" makes it one of the best power/handling bargains in a new 4-door economy-type car isn't much of a problem anyway.

4) There's a forum for this.

I'd rather have a fast ugly POS Mopar than a slow ugly POS Honda.

Give me the price of an NSX to buy a Mopar. It won't be a Neon, that's for damn sure. Care to make any other stupid and pointless comparisons?

Lol.....now you bring price into it? I said a mopar was a fast ugly POS...not a fast expensive or fast cheap pos.......Get it right and stop bringing trivial matters into it...no one spoke of price prior...and no one should be speaking of it now.

You're comparing the Neon to the NSX. That brings price into it automatically, and not as trivia. If you don't want to mention price, then you have to stick to the same class as the Neon, i.e. the Civic.

In other words, slow ugly POS Honda.

I know...NSX's ae so slow...and ugly......Geez..what Pieces of crap.

Seriously - is there any non-drifting car you don't find ugly?

id take a RSX over the SRT-4, yea it costs more but still, it looks way better to me, interior is better too, and its not that slow either. if i wanna find a cheaper RSX, id go with a used one, yea id take a used RSX over a brand new SRT-4, that is if i was buying one of those cars. now if dodge could make the SRT-4 in two doors, and make it look better, i would definately get the SRT-4.

It differ's, Dodge gave somewhat low horsepower number's for various reason's. I've seen dyno's where the car's have made anywhere from 220-250whp. Their factory rated at 230 crank hp. SRT-4

mmmmm.... blue.... yes one day it will be mine.

I was at the Chrysler Proving Grounds on Friday and got to see a yellow SRT-4 test car roll by along side a yellow Viper test car. It was cool.. Yes, I was drooling. There was also a Prowler and a Crossfire with them but for somebody that has actively and every week driven one of those, the arent cool ;)

i heard that dodge has this stage 2 kit that gives around 240 to the wheels, while the stage 3 gives around 300, and you still have warranty on it. i also heard that not very many people know about it, because only people who buy them are told about those options.

hey that blue srt-4's not bad, i like that color.

They use a Mitsubishi turbo so im sure upgrades like the 16G's are possible. On of those in that car would make it pull pretty damn hard. I think they use the TD04 13B... not sure tho

Actually, that's the Mopar Performance Stage I kit, and it's published in the Mopar Performance Parts catalog. It can be ordered over the counter at anyd Chrysler/Dodge dealer or many other parts houses that deal with MP. I think it runs about $300, which is dirt cheap for what you get. It's not exactly top-secret skunkworks type stuff.

Yes, as Neon Duke said, its actually the stage 1 kit. It costs $400 and boosts the power to 240 hp and the torque to 260 lb-ft. It includes Bigger injectors and an upgrade chip. It also bumps the boost as well. A great first upgrade (which was my first)...
