240SX Performance Question?

my 2000 INFINITI I30 puts out 227 to the front wheels and its stock ahahahahahahah i like hondas but so many people have them. And people that do actually "modify them" they usually make it ugly such as dual exhaust on civics........THATS WORSE THAN A FART TIP! and alot of time people have huge rediculas spoilers on thier FF car. POINTLESS! i hate riced out cars.....nissan/infiniti and toyota/lexus are the best! as for american trucks im a ford person

im new to this forum so this post might be pointless..at this pint in time
first of all a stock KA will eat an DX civic...
but its too bad you wanna drag race ... you dont have to drift or anything but once you get your KA 240..
do extensive suspension work and tell ur friends to race you on a track... with some skills you can beat them in your underpowered 240...

on the high way no chance tho ...HW's are mostly long stretches and not much turns......
but whats so fun about drag racing?(just my opinion);)

what does GSR, LS, GS, SE-R, Si, Ex, and all other car names stands for, anyone know?

I THINK it's just a name for the type of car.. say 3.2TL is one model and 3.2TL Type -S is another.. 3.2TL Type-S A-Spec is another..

or Civic DX, Civic Si, Civic Si-R

um yeah toyomatt84, id like to see some dyno results for that 75 horsepower increase by only spending 350$ cuz ur so full of it...wut the hell is a bomb muffler...i have a hotshot HEADER, one header, not headers, its a 4 cylinder..., HKS exhaust, injen intake, B&M shirt shifter, and there is no way any of that will make my car gain 75 horses... no bolt ons are going to get u any kind of horses like that...bull****...o yeah with the idea of swapping engines, its nothing easy, its just a pick up and put in project, theres alot of wiring work and computer changes to deal with...try do a tranny swap...its a lot of work

not all 240's have a fuel cutoff as someone said cuz i know mine dont but that could be cuz i swapped out the auto trans for a manual trans and had to do some rewiring with the ecu

and ,maybe u guys shouldn't be discussing this type of gearhead stuff on a video game site...:banghead: try zilvia.net for all ur 240 needs or plenty of other real sites where u can get real facts...

night_drifter....if ur really gonna buy a 240 ur gonna end up dealing with a high mileage car, lucky i bought my 89 with only 56,000 miles on. you'll want to do a complete tune up and check the timing chain cuz that usually rattles with high mileage 240's. u should think about sticking with the stock 240 and just doing basic maintnence on it before u "soup up" ur bad boy. i have just bolt ons on my car and know that it isnt fast, fast is a corvette or a viper, but just upgrading these little things will help u learn about the car a little more than reading about it...just my opinion

on the fwd verse rwd....off the line if the two cars have the same hp then the rwd will beat it no problem...because in a rwd vehicle when the clutch is dumped the frictional force created by the rotating wheels on the ground produces a for opposite the motion of the car which causes the weight from the from of the car to shift to the rear of the car, F=ma, so that when the weight is trasnferred to the rear the frictional force is increased making it able to propel the car quicker off the line...
fwd cant do this cuz the rear wheels are not wut are producing the forward motion and the weight is transferred off the front wheels lightening the mass and reducing the force on the front wheels making it slower...simple physics...i left out all the rotational forces produced by the wheels but focused on the car ground system....

The KA24DE comes stock with the American 240SX. The SR20DET comes stock in the Japanese Silvia. The American KA, should not be used for a couple of reasons. It is heavier due to an extremely oversized block, it has a lower rpm capability, and in order to turbo it correctly you have to tear apart the block and build up the connecting rods, the pistons, the rings, and probably polish the head. Since the SR20DET is already prepared for turbos, it is an ideal candidate for swapping. Yes, the CA18DET, which was the non-option stock engine for the S13, has a higher rpm rating, the lack of displacement is where it loses hp. It does have a cast iron block tho, where as the SR20DET's is part aluminum. I wouldn't keep the KA for more then you have to, try and go SR asap.

If you need some quick hp, search ebay for some cheap headers, cold air intake, and a bomb muffler. Then go to a local Meinike or other Muffler shop and have them sell you some piping that is 2.5" diameter for the header to the muffler. Get rid of the cat. and get an O2Simulator off ebay if you need to have an O2 sensor after your cat. Other than that, don't do crap to the KA, it's just a money drainer.
WHAT?!? It's only 50 pounds heavier, has a cast iron block(good for lots of boost), higher displacement (good for a turbo application, think about it, the more fuel you burn the more exhaust you're throwing out to spool that sucker up faster) Weak bottom end? What!?!? The KA comes stock with forged rods! I'd take a turbo KA setup over the SR20 anyday ;)

I was planning on buying a 240sx, under $3000, im not rich, if im not planning to go fast, then i might as well be a ricer and do front conversion and put on some body kit to look like a silvia.

if your gonna be a ricer and be proud of it, please buy a civic...just to let u know though, u can get bargain 240s, i bought mine from an old lady with 56,000 miles on it for only 1,800$

Going SR or going KA, will both set you back about the same amount of cash. Just remember the SR20DET will never be legal for use in the United States as it is in violation of the federal clean air act, so use at your own risk, quite a few people have had their cars taken away, some have scrambled to put their KA's back it and then put the SR back in after emissions.

I been searching for the cheapest S13 front conversion and i cant find it less then $900 bucks, does anyone know a place for the cheapest S13 front, i really need to know, or who is selling it in California. When i get my financial aide money from school, that should cover the whole S13 front on my 240sx coupe.

GSpeed Corp up in LA sells the front conversion for 700 or so, and you can usually talk them down to about 600. ShogunStyle Performance in vista CA sells them for around 700.

hey sorry, i didnt mean on the drag strip but i mean on Highway long runs, a civic DX and HF can go more than a 240sx or about the same depends on year. For me, all i care about the 240sx is the looks, it just look so nice, its like straight and i dont know, i just think it look very nice.
