Hey, I was just checkin' the use car lot in GT4 on probly around day 990 or so, and saw a car that I though "who screwed up here?" It was a purple 96' 240SX hatchback. Well, hatchbacks where discontinued after 95' and this car is obviously S13 chassis as it looks just like the purple sil-eighty we all know and love (minus the silvia front end of course).

So did polophony mess up? Or did nissan continue making S13 based cars after the S14 chassis came out? The whole thing seems really strange. I can post some pics if yall like (you won't hurt my feelings by saying you don't believe me, cuz I still can't believe it myself).

Later

well true the 240sx HB was Dicontinued in 94 not 95....but in Japan the 180sx(LHD 240SX) was contined till 98....so if its a type its the name and not the year....it should say 96 180sx

I'll post some pics later today. Sorry about the wrong forum, I didn't realise till just now I could post in the main GT4 page, I thought the sub-catagories where the only catagories. Thanks for moving it.

And thanks for the correction yes, 94 not 95. But the dilema is as you say, either the year must be wrong or the name, not neither, not both.

Tada! That should be enough pics but more will be on the way if anyone wants.

On another note, little off topic... Why can't you turbo the 88' (might be 89', can't remember) nissan 280ZX. Those cars came with optional turbos in 93' with the same chassis with a different head. It's still very popular to turbo the non turbo motors.

Both, kind of.

Nissan DID continue to make S13-based models in Japan after the S14 was released. The S13 hatch in GT4 is an example of one of those, and keep in mind that all the years in GT4 are when the models were available in Japan. The S14 years in GT4 don't quite line up with what we got it North America, where we got the early 'Zenki' model in 95/96 and the later 'Kouki' in 97/98. The 94 240SX was an S13, but was only available as an AT convertible.

But PD took a shortcut when they localized GT4 for North America: the S13 '240SX' is just a renamed and rebadged JDM 180SX, and the S14 240SX is a rebadged Silvia. In GT4, both are rocking the SR20DET that was never available in North America. :indiff:

While I'm spouting Nissan nerdisms I'll point out that the SilEighty was never officially released by Nissan, that's why it appears in GT4 without a manufacturer name on it. If anyone can find any Nissan brochure scans that show otherwise, please let me know!

I was under the impression that Nissan sold the sileighty in japan only. I might be wrong.

It seems as though the whole thing is srewed up and I wonder about PD's knowedge about the american market...

'91 Sil Eighty and (???) was on sale in japan. the Sil Eighty was basicly the 180SX with the nose of the Silvia. The (???), (I
don't know the name) is basicly the same as the S13 240SX coupe but with RHD (right hand drive).

Don't know how accurate the site it. I'd probly on believe it 100% if I saw the nissan brochure.

Can anyone here honestly say they have seen a sileighty. I live in Japan been here for 11 years and aint seen one of the 500 that Nissan never built. Everybody in the states is using the Japanese vin letters for there cars who cares. There are no sileightys in the states say what you want call it what you want. And the only reason that they go by those here is cus not one of them dinks could even get you an oil filter with out it and a handfull of other info from the car.

Again, not a nissan source... I'm not trying to prove you wrong, because I actually thought they were never made as well. I just thought it deserved a little research, and i still have yet to find nissan documents....

...the search continues...

Actually, they have different headlights. The 240SX has S15 styled lights, while the Silvia of the same year has plainer ones.

Sileighty was actually sold by Nissan but only in Japan and only at a very limited number (and only in the form that it appears GT4).... most Sileighty's on the current market are cut and shunt jobs. These Sileighty's also comes in other veriations such as the straberry face (S15 front).... and of course the Onevia (180 front, S13 rear and well is not a Sileighty but deformed offspring of the leftovers).

I kinda thought the some thing but as I got proved wrong in this thread. You should find the info your looking for on the thrid page. I'm not tring to be an 🤬 but I wish someone had let me know this info a little bit sooner.

I'm not sure what part of my post your referring to or whether you're talking about GT4 or real world, but since no S15 240SX's were made, no 240SX was ever built with S15 styled lights. 240SX headlights were either flip-ups on the S13, rounded on the early S14, and angled on the late S14 (like mine, pics in sig link).

And for the SilEighty, the info in the last couple pages of henessy's post seems to be the most reasonable theory to me, and I've seen a lot of people debate it and look for proof only to come back empty-handed. A small number were built by Kid's Heart tuning shop and sold through their dealerships, but it wasn't built or officially marketed by Nissan. They're still considered Nissans of course, but they didn't roll out of a Nissan factory...

I don't think a matter of them not knowing about the American market, just a question of how far to go (and how much time & money to spend) on their localization. It'd be less confusing to me if they'd just left them as 180SXs and Silvias, but that didn't happen.

I have a question for the PAL folks though: are the S14s badged as 200SXs in GT4?
