1) At what time does the race start in game? I'd like to race at night when it's actually dark outside.

2) You can't see **** at night, so naturally you drive more carefully. Does the A.I. behave like that aswell, or do they just keep on going?

Thanks!

The race starts at the time it does in real life, around 3 pm I believe. If I remember right from Le Mans, there is a dropoff in AI times at night but they are consistent.

mcfizzle's got it right, and when it rains the AI lap times really drop off. As long as you're using a decent race car you'll win by many laps. Also, turning on the driving line and increasing the brightness setting on your tv will make driving in the dark much easier.

Sounds amazing. I really want to do this race, I hope mid-race saves come with Spec 2. :)

Also increasing the EV level in the pause options can make it bright enough.

Be sure to choose your car carefully, basically you want something that is obviously going to keep you in the running for a win (or steam ahead by a mile) and you want something that has decent headlights when the main beam is on!

I did 24h Le Mans a couple of months back in the 908, and at night I couldn't see a thing with main beam on! I didnt want to use the driving line, as it would be on constantly, and annoy the heck out of me, so went the hard way, but that's nothing compared to the Ring. Get yourself a few possible car choices that meet the specs of the other typical opponents you will race, and have a few practice sessions either online or offline so you can get used to the car, and also the Ring in the dark, and in the wet.

As the guys say, it starts at 3pm like it does in real life. The night section will drag on for what seems like forever! - with Le Mans, I wondered if it would ever end haha!

Are you planning on doing it yourself, or with friends? And also in 1 stint or in several?

What cars would you suggest to use, must have good head beam at night of course. I was thinking of the Mazda 787B ?

The 787B is good chioce but you will have to push very hard all the time specially when there is a R8 2001 behind you. It took me 3 hours to lap the R8 with 787B, and then i gave up, by that time i would lap the R8 about 5 times with X1 lol.
But i did it in the end with X1 and parked it later...

The AI are not affected by darkness. This is proven by the fact they can drive cars without headlights just fine at night.

You gave up on your 24 hour race because you were ONLY twenty miles ahead of your toughest competition after THREE whole hours? Niiiiiiiice.

More like 15miles :P

As for cars to use, go do some seasonals, get people to remote race your bobs, and go buy a few cars mate. Everybody will say use this, use that - but you might find that you dont like the suggestions :)

Find out the typical opponents specs, and find/build something that will be competitive enough to give you a great battle all the way through the race, but still give you the edge to win. There is no fun whatsoever in doing a endurance race in something like an X2010 as there is no challenge. Imagine watching Renault Clio cup, and having Seb Vettel racing all of them in his F1 car. It would get very boring very quickly :)

Yeah, I exaggerated a little bit. I've only run 2 enduros(well, I lost GV twice -- does that even count as an endurance race?) so far and won both by under 10 seconds, so whats another 5 miles on top of 15? :D

A third of the 24Hr Nurburgring track :P Although to be honest, it could be a 30mile circuit, I would still drive it, and love it like a son - Best track EVER!!!!!

Wow, I'm not awake yet... totally forgot about the Ring 4 hour. I "won" that one by a minute but I was a minute behind entering Döttinger Höhe the final time thanks to running out of gas earlier and the R8 was not due to stop for another lap or two. Never passed him even in the pit lane so I count that as more of a glitch than a win.

I let Bob out for a daytrip to do this, last lap, he was leading by about 40seconds, timer hit zero, he crossed the line in FIRST, and I was delighted. Then out of knowhere it dropped him to 2nd place..... Thankfully I had run it before and won, but still, odd all the same.....
