I recommend the ASUS monitor. I have the ASUS 24" monitor and love it. I bought mine from Newegg.com for $199.

I have 3 of the exact same asus monitors you linked. I really like them, but there really the first decent monitors I have owned so I have nothing to compare them to. I don't regret the purchase though. for the price they seem like a really good deal.

thanks!

follow up q... i will put the monitor on a computer desk and my wheel attached on the same desk... would you still recommend a 27" or 24"-25" is ok? I think the 27" will be too close to cause eye strain.

I have my 27s, 20 inches from my eyes. The middle screen sits about 3 inches behind my steering wheel. My knuckles almost hit it when I turn. I literally couldn't get it closer to my steering wheel.

I actually had a friend come over today to try out my monitors because he is going to get triples. He is use to a dell ISP 27 inch monitor but it broke so he's thinking of getting something different. I think they are around 1000$ new and he was amazed at how my 1080p monitors look. He's thinking of going 1080 now because he said they looked great and had alot less input lag then his dell ISP. I was really wanting him to come check them out, because I'm so use to 1080 I wondered if they would look bad to him after using that super high end high resolution dell for so long.

I do think though he might go 120hz just to see how it looks compared to my 60hz. I still though can't imagine being able to run many games at 120fps on triples to get the most out of 120hz unless you ran no AA and toned down the graphics settings.

I would really like to see a 120hz set in action. My 60hz look great I can't imagine monitors being much better unless they were plasma somehow.

I just went from using a 46'' to the Asus you mentioned above and I had some concerns regarding sitting too close to the monitor but now, after using the set for a couple of hours, I'm very satisfied with the change. 👍

I don't miss the large 46'' and my experience is that the monitor is sharper and faster which makes me see the track, the bends and the apex better.

I also intrested of a three screen set up and the plan is to complement with two 24''. We will see if it happens. :)

thanks Bevo and Rosen! I went to a local Bestbuy just to test out how big 27" monitors. Personally I don't think it will cause strain from viewing less than 2' away. I found that the 24" may be small for me. For a 1 monitor set up, I've decided to go for a 27".

On the other hand, isn't the ASUS older than the Samsung model I mentioned? If so, would being an old model makes a difference in the world of monitors?

Check out the official Playstation monitor at BestBuy. I believe it's 27". My buddy picked one up and it looks great, 240hz LED 1080p plus it has active 3D and comes with one pair of glasses. Extra glasses are like $30 which isn't bad for active 3D glasses. It was on sale for $180 when he got it. Can't beat it really.

I currently have 2 26" monitors outside of my 32"

I have vizio e260mv. They are slim and light and look good.

I found them on eBay repaired or scratched bezel for $60-90.

Very cheap.

Veiwsonic offer some good monitors, i have a VX2439WM and can honestly say its great. Must say the official monitor looks good and comes with 3d function prices here in the UK have dropped significantly. Im sat no more than 30 inches from mine and think anywhere between 24 and 27 should be fine.

Better do some research before picking this up. Sony has discontinued it because of issues. It seems they dont work very long. As in a month or less. 👎

I will only use 1 monitor for playing GT5 and PC gaming in the future...

If you can afford it now, I would purchase 3 of them. In the not so near future you might want to set up triples for PC gaming, it will be hard to find two more like the one you are about to purchase.

iRacing with triple monitors is the best sim racing bar none, perhaps you don't want to make the leap just yet, so perhaps a HDTV might be another alternative for you at the present. I run triple 55" HDTV's but mainly because of the great deal I got on them.

I saw your rig and it's awesome! I wish I have the space and money to set up mine like yours!! 👍👍👍

Right now, I don't have the space to set up 3 monitors... kinda breaking it in to my wife before i splurge...

More like... "see honey... it looks very good and the images are sharp!" then postman knocks with 2 more monitors in hand. :ouch:

:) ya my wife gave me a choice, it was either her or the rig she said ... I hear she's doing great these days. :D

GUys i keen to buy 3 x Asus VE278Q http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-monitors/asus-ve278q/4505-3174_7-34321075.html for iRacing - Is this more than enough to get a budget experience at quality price?

Doing my head trying to find good quality 27" as my outlay on 3 x monitors wont be a cheap exercise.

I also noticed a few videos on youtube that people are using these monitors for iRacing and seem happy.

Any help will be appreciated.

I was considering the VE278Q but have opted for this model ASUS VG278HE - it's their 144Hz 27" model.

They arrive this week so will let you know how they go.

i have an asus vg278he for some single screen 144hz or 3d gaming....fps.
tomorrow my 2x asus ve278h arrive for some nvidia surround @ 60 hz. cant wait.
hopefully they will match the vg278he perfectly, acc to the specs they should anyhow.

Why @60hz.. the VE278H is a 120hz screen - can't you run all 3 at 120Hz ?

yeah no the asus vE278h is 60hz max.
youre thinking of the vG278h which is 3d 120hz, couldn't afford two of these, nor could i afford the video card to run 3x monitors at 120 hz, so 60 hz nvidia surround will have to do me.
but using my center screen at 144 hz sure is smooth...
anyhow got the screens today and they match asthetically perfectly, just need to get the angles right, currently my surround monitors are at approx 60 degrees, ill drop them back to 45 deg tomorrow which should help in colour and should make my in car dashboard straight.
60 degrees seems fine for center car steering wheels tho' like f1 cars etc.

so im using :

ve278h (60hz)
vg278he (144 but at 60hz)
ve278h (60hz)
for racing

Yes I'm quoting myself, sorry..

I set up my 144hz screens last night and all I can say is WOW..!
What a difference in quality and smoothness. Very hard to describe except what a leap in improvement.

I've run single 1080p Plasma, 1080p Projector, Triple 27" 60Hz and now these and by far they are the nicest I've seen in terms of picture quality and smoothness - will be very hard to go backwards from here.

Just ordered my Sim Project PC Build today and went with 3 x 27" ASUS VG278HE 144Hz aswell, today it was a expensive purchase but should be a rewarding one for gaming in the future.... Next is Monitor Stand for the tripples

It really is a nice display. I've read on iRacing forums that if you cap the frame rate at 144 it's better. I used to leave mine unrestricted and it would go up and over 200fps, not noticing much difference with it at 144hz but I guess I won't experience it go from 190 to 130 and potentially affect control.

Anyway, congrats on the purchase - my machine is all ready except for the dual Titan's which I've been told arrive this week...
