Hey people, need some help.

I was tuning my first car today :) , Viper ACR, (noob car, I know!)

Got a base tune from this site and did a lot of tweaking and got my time down to 9.037. Is this good?

Anyway, when I change from 2nd to 3rd, there is a hesistant lag while its trying to work up the RPMs, why does it do this? And how can I get rid of it?

Well. 9.037 for a black-screen launch is pretty decent. The problem might be that your 3rd gear is to long. So, try to shorten it, and stiffen up the suspension a little bit in the front.
EDIT: I don't tune exotic anymore, but this is what I would have done. Make sure to save your tune just incase it makes it slower (which it shouldn't).

I dont think I could shorten it any much more, it's, more or less, perfectly levied with 4th, 5th and 6th on the graph.

And will tweak my suspension and make it stiffer, thanks for that.

Than, maybe it's that your transmission gearing is setup too long. But, yes try stiffening and then tell me result.👍

But I would also try to shorten it. I have cars that are faster when gear 3 is higher up on graph than gear 4. It works with some cars.

Ok so, would it work for the ACR?

And thanks for the info.

9.037 with a black screen launch would easily be a high 8.99x ACR with a timed launch. Should give the top ACR's a run for their money online.

Thanks bro,

Couldnt have done it without your advice on PM.

Hows the AC Cobra? Right colour?

Hmm.. Will have to try and shorten 3rd then

I know if I get rid of this slow rpm build up, Il finally break into the 8.XXX.

Here is Dom's fast a$$ tune!

Dom00000
So I decided to be nice and along with these times will come the tune :sly::drool:👍

Retro launch 8.980 1/4 mile
Timed launch 8.993 1/4 mile
Black screen launch 9.028 1/4 mile
These times are with the same tune as follows.
Aero: 40
Ballast: 0
LSD: Torque-60, Acceleration sensitivity-60, Braking-5

Suspension:
Ride height: -20Front +40 Rear
Spring rates: 18.0Front 7.5Rear
Dampers extension: 1Front 7Rear
Dampers compression: 1Front 8Rear
Anti-Roll bars: 1Front 1Rear
Camber: 5.0Front 0.0Rear
Toe: -1.00Front 0.80Rear

Transmission:
Flip the tranny to a high 183mph with 6th gear full right and final at 2.000. What I mean by "a high 183mph" is when you flip it at 183mph go to your 6th gear and move it 5 clicks to the left, at the 5th click it should change to 184mph.
Gears:
1st: Full left
2nd: Full left
6th: Full right
5th: Full right
3rd: 2.746 or 0.35 clicks to the left from the number in the box on the right.
4th: 2.311 or 0.081 clicks to the left from the number in the box on the right.
If your numbers dont match then that means you didnt flip it right but thats ok because the gears should look like this.

Now here is how to launch it. Ill start with the easiest, the black screen launch is simply holding the gas before the map loads so you will get consistent launches every time. A timed launch is when you smash the gas right before it says go and the point of this is to get your RPMs to a certain number at the moment of launch. Lastly and most difficult is the "Retro launch", it only works on mr,rr, and fr, drivetrains. Stretch your 1st gear all the way and if the car is powerfull enough stretch 2nd all the way too. But the points is to do a timed launch like stated earlier but this time in 1st gear and then quickly change to 2nd after launch. This is very difficult to do if you have never done it and it will take some time before you even know you did it correctly lol. The best way to know if you did it right is to do a timed launch and pass the 1 mile with a decent time, then race again but this time there will be a ghost of your previous run which you can use to help make minor adjustments and see if you launch better than your timed launch by using the retro launch.

I hope everyone that uses this can appreciate it and the work that went into it. I am going to put up more tunes for popular drag cars and let me remind you NOT BASE TUNES. Until next time enjoy guys and girls!
PS: Feel free to Private Message me if you have questions or if you want to give back to me ;)

Stop leeching off of other peoples tunes and tune your cars yourself.

This. Let him tune himself, thats what he wants, he wants to learn how to make it faster.

LOL

I know about Dom's tune, I have to admit I considered using it but decided otherwise as I want to tune myself and apply that knowledge on other cars.

I, instead, used SlashFan's base tune and tweaked it to line up the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th with a consistent pattern between them.

I achieved a 9.037 with it and trust me, when you beat ACRs online, it's a good feeling when you beat them knowing you tuned it yourself. :)

Only time I was not happy about being beaten was against a ACR from a German racer (no offense to them), it sounded really weird and was way too quick and had minimal wheelspin.

I smell a rat.. E-Cheat anyone?

Yeah I us my own also, it's not quite as fast as Dom's it supposed to be but I am happy with it and it I mine :) .. But if he wants a good tune might as well point him in the right direction lol

Haven't been online.

Good to know people still use my tunes XD

I understand where you are coming from and I commend you for that. But giving a tune that is already good won't let me apply the knowledge I would have got tuning it on my other cars.

Hence, using SlashFan's base tune helped me on the basics and characteristics of tuning i.e gear ratios, powerbands, shiftpoints etc

Now I can then with more practice, not saying I know how to tune hands off now, categorize the info I learned and use it on other cars.

But, thanks for the gesture though. :)

The general setup is similar amongst most RWD cars but theres other little tweaks that need to be done to make those top notch.

Will try out the 3rd gear shortening and stiffening the suspension when I get online.

And let you know the latest.

Street Racer
Karo always said that he wouldn't give a good tune to anyone because they wouldn't learn.

Mad props to karo and you.

Also make sure you change at about .010 at a time on a gear. Or even .005 is what I do. Some cars at .005 can slow you down or make you faster by .03 sometimes. Had this happen before.

You should try moving it 0.050 to the left ( one gear at a time ) if you time gets slower try going the other direction to get the best possible gear ratios

After tweaking for 4 hours and using the advice in this thread, finally got the time down to 9.024.

This is, I think is the best I can do for now...

Thanks to all that helped me! :)

Now, my next project which is already underway, Nissan 300ZX 2 Seater 👍

I can't stand that. The leader board said 9.8xx I could get it only to 10.090. It is one of the most strange cars to tune I think.
