Please, ensure you read and understand all requirements for this competition. Failure to follow
the rules may result in disqualification. If you have questions, send me a Private Message.

This Thread will answer many possible questions you may have.

• It is recommended you host your image on ImageShack, Photobucket, or Flickr.
• Not sure how to post a thumbnail or preview image? Read this sticky!
• Please use a clickable-preview to full-size, not a separate text link for it;
it makes poll creation much easier!

• One entry per user.
It must be your own work, and never previously used in a comp.
• Do not ask other users to choose your entry.
• Mark your FINAL ENTRY clearly, with red text.
• You may change your entry once. Do it clearly; edit out your previous entry, and
either post the new one in a new reply, or in place of the original.
• When submitting, use either a thumbnail or a preview image, linked to the full-sizer.
• Preview images can not exceed 500 pixels in either direction.
• A preview image must be representative of the full-size image. Do not add effects to it.
• Do not post "Honourable Mentions" or outtakes - just your Final Entry, that's all.
• Winner gets to choose the following week's theme, as well as the Top 25.
• Winners cannot enter in their own theme!
• The Host may ask for the original image and it must be submitted if so.
• It's recommended to save the original image (preferably in-game) until week's ends.

• Crop and/or resize an image.
• Adjust the level or curve values.
• Alter the colour tone of the image (gradient maps, photo filters, colour balance, etc).
• Car body colour change (all stickers/design features must remain, see "Remove Items" rule).
• Adjust brightness, contrast, exposure, shadow/highlights.
• Enhance shadows or highlights (dodge and burn tools in Photoshop, for example).
• Add noise and/or diffuse glow.
• Add a post-game tilt-shift blur, or apply a motion blur to a stationary Photomode shot.
• Make use of Layer Blend Modes.
• Use a Sharpening filter and/or tool.
• Scale or enlarge rims.
• Remove or modify license plates.
• Remove the GT watermark.
• Add a personal signature.
• Clean up or fix jaggies, texture pixelation, or colour separation.
• Add a vignette effect.

• Artistic filters are allowed; that means green light for lens flares, ghost effects, etc.
• Weather edits are allowed but do refrain from using it on every single entry you put out.
• Multiple photos are allowed, HDR and photo-stitch away!
• No images outside of GT5 is allowed, lens flares and vignettes excluded.
• Selective colouring and masking of the car or background is, however, allowed.

• IMPORTANT: Winners, to unrestrict the competition, please let your theme be more open, say in 1-3 words; Elements, Time, Shadows, etc.

Please refrain from distancing away from the theme with your edits, saying if there is not really a need for a weather edit, it is recommended that you don't add it in.

Note that the rules are still under construction and haven't been finalized. Please provide feedback on the rules and we'll see a final ruleset soon.

Failure to follow these rules will result in ignored entries and/or disqualification!

So here it is folks.

Do provide feedback on the rules still, and hopefully this will be able to last a long time.

Banner pictures provided by Gtuned and ShaolinMasta.

Have fun.

Great work Taiga. ;) I think that the rules are good for start. Maybe with after a couple of competitions we can add/modify one or another.

This will be great :)

EDIT:

I'm a bit reticent with that rule that don't allow images from outside the GT5. I say this because there are brushes very very realistic that can (combined) produce an image very complex. And if brushes are allowed without restrictions it may be a problem to whom (like me) doesn't have many brushes (due to crash of my HD lol). :)

Probably a stupid question but would entering still be ok with minimal 3.0 editing just to show support?

I think it's more than OK. ;) Will be nice to see everyone improving with each other feedback and criticism.

Great job with the banners

My 50 cents:

Theme: I would remove the car, location and unique restrictions thing;

Rules: I would just change the top 25 to all in the poll, since this competition would require some time to have the entry done, and would be unpleasant if all that work goes for nothing. Either that or if it is more selective, maybe a top 10. It's up to you ;) ;

Editing: It's kind of confusing. I would remove whats there and would add the following: You are free to use any tool available in GT5 and photoshop or any other image editing program only. No outside images from GT5 are allowed (if that's the case from what I am understanding).

I'm smiling so hard right now :)

just for clarification, we are allowed selective color changing right? as in changing parts of the body color (racing strips, etc)

• Background swapping is not allowed, but drawing it out yourself is.

• Altering the geometry of the car is allowed, but restricted. Drawing the livery/part in the software is allowed, but not cutting and pasting from an external image.

Sounds pretty good so far. But I'm unsure as to what these rules mean exactly.

Drawing it out yourself? Does this mean creating your own backgrounds is ok?

And Drawing the livery/part in the software? What is meant by that?

Sorry if i'm being a annoying just feel like I need some clairty on these in particular.

FINAL ENTRY

Please click.

Trying my luck with a simple 2 second edit

That would be allowed. So long as you don't use any images outside of GT5.

Sorry for being a tad bit unclear. It means selective colour changing is allowed, so long as you don't bring in any images outside of GT5.

That does make a point. If the theme is to be made as open as possible, the requirements thingy should be taken off. We'll see next week. :)

And yes, sorry for not putting that in originally, no images outside of GT5 is allowed. (Lens flares, vignettes excluded) But if you're creating images by using brushes and masking layers, that's fine.

Rules are still under 'maintenance', so do keep that feedback coming!

Right so if you were to create a livery graphic within photoshop but not use a existing file that would be ok?

Or if you we're to create a background completely in photoshop but use textures and stuff is that ok? Or that taking it too far?

The background issue is really a hard call.
This week, as the rules have stated, you're allowed to do so, so long as you don't use any images outside of GT5. So if your textures are within photoshop, that's fine. But this rule needs some serious review.

I'd say keep the requirements part of the description, i often go to it when someone's theme isn't particularly clear.

I'm guessing the red and purple editing details are just to distinguish what is allowed usually in 2.0 and what is now allowed in 3.0?

PS The banners look awesome:)

Yes, you are right. The rules in red text is what is now allowed in 3.0.
Thanks cph.

The entries so far are examples of what 3.0 can produce, good job. 👍

Is body modification allowed? I.E. Extended fenders, adjusting wheel "fitment", adding vents, etc?

Yes. But only using the tools available in the editing software you use. You are not allowed to cut and paste from an image out of GT5.

Figured I'd give it a try after getting Gtuned's Christmas thingamajig. It's alright for a first try, I guess

Final entry:

Hmm but could you cut and paste from another gt5 image into your work, like a vent or such from another shot you've taken? :sly:

But just for the sake of saying it, I can theoretically take the wheels off of my Gillardo and stick them on my camaro or the entry, as long as it's all from GT5?

and are multiple cars in photomode alright? I guess this kind of plays on ^ question too.

You could, you might end up with something like my AM V12 Gran Vantage S from ages back. :sly:

Not my entry btw. :)

I think you can use as much shots as you like since they are from GT5. :)

You guys sure found loopholes there. And yes, I guess that would be allowed, cutting and pasting from GT5 to GT5, since they're technically images within the game.

Haha well not that I'll definitely do that but I just like to know I have that option available if I so desire. :sly:

I was already imagining a beach-side shot but it will have to wait (cote d'azur suks xD) :D

Were you not also the creator of the V12 Vantage limited edition truck? lol
