At first, many compliments for your very nice forum, I'm a very big (and old) fan of the GT series and I was interested to get in contact with other people "living" for the same passion.
I tried to search for my question on the search engine but, even if I found a lot of very interesting topics, I wasn't able to get any poisitive result about the following demand on GT4:

Is it possible to link via LAN mode N° 3 PS2 using N° 3 different screens for a single player game session? The result could be similar to the SEGA F355 3 screens Arcade cabinet (have a look to the picture)?

zFerrari_F355_Challenge.jpg

I've found the following game's screen:

lan_settings_monpos.jpg

and I was wondering if it has something to do with my crazy 3 screens dream.
Does anybody know something about this matter?

Mad regards,
Sig. Kilgore.

I know it was done for GT3. The outside screens were set as spectators.

I've read in one place that it can be done in GT4, but it looked bad because the field of view overlapped from screen to screen. (You could see an object in two screens at once.)

It would be awesome to have GT4 playable on 3 screens.

I know the arcade F355 game. Its just awesome and I really like it.

I'm not sure what's the 2nd pic you posted but in a PD interview you could see them playing GT4 with 3 screens.

He linked to the image in my gallery that linking is not allowed.

This is the 2nd pic that he wants to show

:tIf there is a way to do it I would be interrested in knowing too since I have soo many tvs already in my game room. And if it was possible for GT3 I would like to try that then I could make videos and post for anyone who wants to see them. I have 2 PS2 but if I needed a 3rd one I could do that.
If it was possible I could try it on GT4P, GTC, GT3, GT4JPN demo too. 👍

I'm sorry, I cannot understand what you really mean.
(I hope I didn't make a mistake) :guilty:

With reference, in particular, to KoukiFC3S;
I also read about an old presentation of a pre-GT4 version running, for 1 player only, on several screens together . Maybe also the final version has this feature.
I made a small research on the web and I've found the LAN manual at this link:

GT4 LAN

If you look into the manual at page n° 5 you can see a picture with 6 :dunce: screens together.
As you probably understand, I cannot speak Japanese or Chinese (well, I'm also in trouble with English) so any help would be appreciated.

so 2 more PS2s + 2 more copies of GT4 + 2 more 20" TVs = $800
hmm I dunno

Nope I already have the tvs, already have the ps2's, already have several GT3 games. Just need instructions thats all= free. :)
If I need more copies of a game thats also free. :)
I also have everything I need to hook up at least 4 PS2 if necessary since I have a hub and all the necessary Firewire cables.

One challenge my friend...They're talking about GT4 not GT3.

My friend, Greyout said it could be done in GT3 so I assumed it could be done in GT4P, GTC, or any of the following. I also have the GT4 demo that I could try it on. :) Read a couple posts up and you will see that. :)
Also dont forget there are over 40 people on this site that have GT4.

And we'll all have it in about 60 days....I hope. But yeah, I saw that. But guessing that most members that have it don't live in close geographical proximity to each other, I imagine it would be quite difficult.

wow..... i should try that.... tv's should be no problem... PS2 & GT4 i have quite a few friends have them....
the only problem is none of us have the network adaptor for PS2... -_-"
i guess you'll also need a router for more than two PS2? dunno...

Geographical location of any user is irrelevant...because physical location of either you or I has no bearing on what the game can or can-not do....

All anyone is looking for in this thread is:

1. Confirmation that you can play the game on 3 screens:
2. If you can confirm it, how do you set it up?
3. And if you can confirm it, then indicate what version you got it working with...if it wasn't with GT4

Common Sense should indicate:
If it was possible in previous versions....say GT3.....then let's find out how & we'll test with all these newer versions of the game and if the tests works...then the most logical answer to the question Do you think you can play GT4 over 3 screens? will be a resounding YES!
NOTE: Don't forget that the question in italics above is, it self, a question with no yes/no answer at the moment, as no one has taken the time to come forward & even state it as a fact or not! 👍

Uh...you're going to need more then one copy of GT4 to do it. Unless you plan on buying multiple copies of the game, you'll need two friends with it. This is why geographic proximity makes sense until GT4 is released in the USA.

It was possible to do it in GT3 with iLink cables. But with GT4, there isn't iLink support. So what would you connect the ps2s/tvs with?

uhh... but there *is* iLink support.

There is no online network gaming, if that's what you mean, but you can definitely hook up a couple of PS2s with the iLink cable and play head to head.

As for three screens... I'm not too sure.

I doubt that iLink will be supported in GT4 because the newer ps2 models don't even have the feature on them anymore (to my surprise since i wanted to challenge my friends) and the network adapter or internal ethernet ports will be used instead. And since GT series is an official product of Sony, supporting an older system that's "obselete" wouldn't make that much sense.

I got really excited when I saw this pic and went to check on my game. Here is what I found:
The 2nd option from the top is HOST [yes/no]
The 3rd option is STYLE (or role of this specific ps2) [play/live(view as spectator)/monitor(act as a sub-monitor, as in multi-monitor mode, or more than one per player)]
The 6th option is the number of sub-monitors, up to ten.
But the 7th option is the monitor position with only 6 positions, so I don't know what the other 4 monitors could do.
Option 8 is the monitor type [normal/type-s(don't know what this means)]

So in order to play with multiple monitors, it looks like you will need 1 ps2 + gt4 per monitor.
Sorry, I have no way to test this.

of course there isn't i-link in GT4, and of course multiple screens are suported, this has been known for years (yes, years) GT3 had it... so why wouldn't GT4? the only difference is that you have to use LAN for it instead of i-link, why is this thread so long? where is the big mistery? hell, the thread even has a screenshot at the begining of how you want the screens setup... why did this thread get to this point? again... where is the big mistery? 💡 also.. remmember... the search button.. remmember....

I am saying the gallery has the non-linking rule at the server that you will get a bandwidth stealing picture than the picture you want.

All the linkable pictures are in my translation thread (but set to only for linking in GTPlanet.net).

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=52733

Thank you for your answer, now it's clear for me.
Unfortunatly, as I wrote in my first post, I've been searching for a long time on the search engine of the forum but I was not so lucky to get a simple answer about my request for the 3 screens mode on GT4.

Now, from your answers, it seems to me it is possible to link on GT4 up to 6 screens for 1 player using a PS2 with network adaptor for each monitor and a hub.
I hope I'll have the chance to try it (with 3 screens) in the next weeks and if everything goes right I'll post some pictures.
Thank you again also to Sneeze316, maybe I'll be helped for the setup by his quick translation.

Seems to be the case for linking the PS2, up to 6 was mentioned before. But I don't have enough resources to test as I only have one copy of GT4, although I have 3 PS2s (2 of them has NA). Heh !

At the auto show in Detroit, Subaru had a couple machines running a special promo version of gt4. The setup included hydraulic pistons beneath the cockpit, and three screens in the same manner F355 had them set up in the arcade, and they were using DFP's for the steering wheel. Pretty sweet setup, but I didn't get a chance to try it out as the line was really long.

The second branch of "The Detroit Auto Show" is coming to grand rapids this weekend and thats only about 45 minutes from my house. I went the last few years but didnt even consider going this year. Now that you mention the GT4 setup I might consider it. The bad thing is that its $8.00 a person and there are usually only a few really nice cars there. :guilty:

Damn it was 12 dollars for me. Is the one in grand rapids scaled down a lot?

But if anyone could figure out how Subaru set that up, that'd be pretty sweet. I'd personally love to have the same setup with a really good gaming pc, and a copy of GTR with a DFP. $$$$. I surely don't have enough for that though.

Yes it is. The last time I went to it they were supposed to have the Tomahak bike . The one with the viper engine and it wasnt even there. 👎 But they did have the SSR and the Ford Lightning which was sick in person! The Grand Rapids show is very wattered down. :guilty:

You seem to be annoyed with redundant topics that you deem useless because the search function wasn't utilized. It's ironic that you perpetuate the "uselessness" with retorts like this exhibiting equally useful content. Instead of acting like a know it all who can't even spell, exhibit some tolerance and self restraint, coupled with the answers people are looking for. Or simply don't respond unless it's constructive. Believe it or not, everyone on message boards like these aren't privy to the content posted from day one or even how to search for topics. They see a topic and respond.

Alternately, you could ignore this post and do whatever you want. Maybe even throw a personal attack at me for good measure. :dopey: 👍

On topic: I too would like to see an itemized list of required equipment and steps for configuration. (in game & hardware)

meh, i don't care about you at all to go on a full out attack on you, and i'll learn to spell english when you learn to speak spanish, it's obvious english isn't my native lenguage, i have never lived in an english speaking country and have never taken classes for it, how do you like them apples?

the reason i'm "annoyed" by people that don't use the search button is because they are in fact repeating stuff over and over again... which just happens to spam MY screen, as far as useless responses goes yours was completley irrelevant to the topic.. at least i pointed out that this topic is allready discussed and that all it takes to have their questions answered is... the search button.

again, i have no intrest in attacking you personaly even though you come up as an arrogant punk trying to be "intellectual" by pointing out my typos and using an "advanced" vocabulary, but to me you just look like a punk. bye, take care.
go out and have some drinks, and you know... drive home.

oh yeah, you want a list of the equipment required to run multimonitor setup? howbout you take my advice and use the search button before you ask? the answer's are out there... and just to save people like you time (lazy people) i'll type it again in hopes of this thread to stop bumping up.

you need a PS2 for each screen, a GT4 for each PS2, a LAN adapter for each PS2 (unless allready included on your slim one of course), a network hub/router/switch (whatever you want to use.) and of course the cables required and that's about it. it was exactly the same procedure in GT3 except that it used firewire instead of LAN... any more questions? well, tough $hit, use the search button before you ask.

Here's a cookie.
Ahora comienzo que aprende a cómo escribir a máquina inglés. El español es una segunda lengua de mía. <-- not perfect but you understand.

Sorry that things don't go your way. Eventually you'll learn that life is full of such disappointments. To me, your criticism and pontification beckons an identical reply, so I obliged. I was growing weary of seeing your complaining spamming my screen in every topic I was reading. This one just happened to be where I decided reciprocate. Your attempt to police this public forum to your liking is futile at best. There is too much misinformation and immature kids around here for it to work.

Thank you, but I had all the info I needed from searching. My question was an attempt to make people like you (pompous people) actually contribute instead of sounding like a woman with pms. Thanks for playing, puppet. Now play nice and don't let this get any more childish than it already is kiddo. :) 👍
