Just kidding, i just wanted to get some attention.

I'm just curious what everybody thinks of Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4. It seems like a car that I would put in a category together with Supras, RX7, maybe Skylines, but nobody seems to talk about them or, it sometimes seems, not even acknowledge their existence.

My friend has a 93 VR4 with a 99 conversion and the car simply blows me away everytime he gives me a ride in it, and he doesnt drive to impress( switches gears at around 3000 ).

IMO the car is awesome, I'm just wondering why its not as "popular", i guess, as other cars in its category.

Thanks for you input guys.

Well for one, they are a fortune to insure. Im a DSM guy for life so I have some experience with the 3000GT/Stealths. To me they are just too heavy. They are a great idea and look sweet but you need endless amount of hp to really get them moving. A stock T/E/L AWD blows the VR-4/RT's away off the line. The only 3000GT's ive seen that have been sub 12's were highly modded. It takes too much to get a 4000 pound beast movin down the track. But I still give the 3000GT and Stealth R/T's a thumbs up

You can get a bpu VR-4 into the 12's on street tires. A lot of people mention the cars weight, but they don't mention the ammount of hp and torque the 6G72 motor can make with basic mods.

They are also looked at by most people as being a "one trick pony", but they do that one trick well. :D

Honestly, I have no idea why so many people overlook this car..

I don't know much about their performance, they're rarely talked about, but I've always thought the 3000GT was a really nice looking car.

Does anyone use the 3000GT in JGTC? That might have something to do with it. The FTO is popular, but I don't think anyone goes after the 3000GT.

I don't really have anything against the 3000 itself. It's just that every time I see one it's driven by a 45-year-old divorced woman with a short frosted blonde dye job who's spending her ex-husband's alimnony on a "sexy car" after he already traded HER in on a newer model.

Those usually aren't the VR4, I know, but there are too many "sheep in wolf's clothing" versioons to make the VR4 seem interesting to me.

I'd much rather have a Galant VR4 and have 4 usable seats and a "wolf in sheep's clothing" instead.

They do have several tricks... Not only are they another "276hp" Japanese car (read 300hp+), and 4WD, but they have passive rear wheel steering and active downforce. I got passed by a 3000GT/GTO (this one was a grey import, so it was a GTO) on a right-angled turn. I was doing 40mph. He was doing 75mph and accelerating - and he shrugged the corner off like it wasn't there.

i quite like them, by brother use to have one and considering it was a heavy car it never really felt it. i admit pulling off with low revs the car sort of lumbered but if you gave it lots of power then it would go like stink. very comfortable cruiser to.

Im not a big fan of the base model and SL, but Id take a VR4 any day. They are bad ass mofos. Weight doesnt mean a thing when you have massive amounts of power to propel the car like a bullet. AWD helps too.

Well, no matter what people say about price, performance, weight, theres one thing we should all agree on....This car is dame SEXY

Don't worry, they are coming out with a new one in 2006...at least that's what i've been hearing. I hope they dont make it as ugly as the Eclipse concept.

I heard they are also dropping "the gentlemen's agreement" in Japan, so the new VR4 is expected to be making over 400 horses.

Thanks for everybody's input

Because the lower models are boats, and still were pretty expensive new. They also cost a LOT.

I never really cared for the look of the 3000GT, hell I've never really cared for the car itself, but I will say they are fast with a few mods. Also 4000 pounds isn't heavy, I've seen 7000 trucks bust into the 12's no problem. Anything is possible.

Lower models...you mean base and SL?

I agree, I'm not a very big fan of those either. I'm talking about VR4s

Sorry for the confusion

Didn't they make a VR-4 Galant or something along those lines?

I'd buy one of those, it would make the perfect sleeper.

I don't want to start a flame war on this one, but they are a little on the slow side. I have a stock 1996 Chevy Tahoe and a buddy of mine has a white '96 3000GT Twinturbo with the Aero package and I beat him in a quarter mile. And as a fact, my best friend rode in the car for the races, that's right 3 in a row, and he said the driver was gunning it every time.

I'm not saying it's a bad car, just a slow one.

Yes, they are slow, but not that slow. Something is wrong with his driving skills, or his car.

BTW- I've never liked 3000GT's. I'd rather have a Galant VR-4, or a TSi/GSX/GS-T.

Don`t even think about putting them into the same catagory as GTR`s, it would only be a huge offence to the team at NISMO, they are so far from it they don`t even quilify anywhere near the same class.

The GVR-4's are perfect sleepers. In my family we have a 92 GVR-4 that is a stock daily driver and a 91 GVR-4 that is a SCCA and TSD Rally car. They are alot of fun to drive

Hey! No fair! I said I wanted a Galant VR-4 first!

Well if this is any better, we have a 92 TSi AWD that is an SCCA and TSD rally car, that is fully gutted with corbeau seats and 5 point harnesses, rally lights across the front on a light bar, navigator map lights and all the gadgets for sale for 3,000 american if thats any better.
