Hi, is there any big difference of hosting a game with 5mbps up or 10mbps? I was ordering a new connection with 20mbps and I though it would be 20 both way but I had to check with them and its 20mbps downlaoding and 1mbps up! wtf so I know that to hos a good race online you will need at least 1,5mbps uploading right? Now I've got two options.. 30mbps downloading with 5mbps up or 10mbps both ways? I think I will go with the 30/5mbps but my question is, will there be any noticable differences when hosting a game online with 5 or 10 mbps I am completly noob at this point! thanks for any advices!!!

EDIT: Im ordering all this becouse I wanna play GT5 online again!! its all becouse of GT5 i dont give too :cencur: about anything else, tho it might be nice having a quick downloading speed. :p

EDIT: The 30mbps down, 5mbps up is a new thing called VDSL

I cant really answer on the difference on 5 and 10 upload, but i have 4mb upload and I have not noticed any problem at all even with setting voice and race quality to maximum.

A 20mbps internet connection won't give you 20mbps download or upload speed...
I have a 10mbps connection and my maximum download speed is 1.5mbps. I don't remember the actual formula how to calculate it.
And this is enough to play GT5 online. And host.

I pay for 10/4mbps and actually get 0.5mbps more then i pay for..

20 Mbps is not speed it is bandwidth :) GT5 will be no different whether using a 8MB line or a 20MB line.

My router settings say:

8061 kbps download (7.8 Mbps)
605 kbps upload (0.59082 Mbps)

I play GT5 online with no problems what-so-ever.

So really, you'll be fine with either, in GT5 I host fine with half a MB lol! :P If you don't download much stuff I would get 10/10 as it gives good down / upload performance.

You only need to get the 30MB if you download a lot of stuff, otherwise there is no need for it. Tbh if you could get 10/5 or something like that that will be more than enough for general internet use / online gaming. Don't be wasting tonnes of money on bandwidth that you will never use.

You see with Asymettric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) you get a high download speed at the expense of your upload speed which is really low!

If you go for Symettric Digital Subscriber Line (SDSL) you will get an average download speed with an equal (higher) upload speed, such as 5.5 etc.

I think I will go for the VDSL, its about 10$ more than my other option.

That is serious overkill mate but if you are happy to pay for it then go for it. For online gaming though / general internet usage you will probably only use 10% of that bandwidth on a heavy day. However, if you download a lot you'll be able to get a film practically on demand lol!
