Concur. Barrichello was also injured at Imola that year I belive. Imola '94 was a joke. Thought about starting a thread like this, but refrained.

According to GPupdate the 'Senna: Movie' begins filming next week. All footage kindly given by FOM and profits to Senna's charity.
 
Ratzenberger was so happy just to be in F1, he was such a nice guy. He defended a woman who was being threatened with a knife in a nightclub in japan in 1993, speaks to his character..
 
Sad stuff, especially considering today is my 18th birthday.
 
My dad used to tell me a lot about Senna. I only discovered Roland Ratzenberger by accident. But now that I know he isn't just another driver, but a legend, RIP Roland. You will live in our hearts forever. F1 is alot less without you.

EDIT: We're not going to make an Aryton Senna thread tomorrow, are we? Because if you do alot of people will get really emotional.

Does anyone have the pics of the grid at Monaco, where the first two spots were painted with Austrian and Brazilian flags? Can't find any myself.

Can scarcely believe it's been 15 years - a significant part of their legacy is the incredible safety record of the sport in the years since their deaths, and despite some massive accidents in those years, Senna remains the most recent F1 driver to die in an F1 car. I think it is fair to say that neither driver will be forgotten, but that Senna's legacy to the sport of F1 is incalculable.
 
Well said, I think the safety record speaks for itself and we'll never forget the impact of that weekend.
 
Aryton Senna, the hero of F1. He is the greatest F1 driver of all time. Although none of his F1 records still stand, he still stands in our hearts and will forever. I always wish I could have seen his racing rather than hearing about him from my father.

Fiday May 1st marked the tragic death of one of my personal favorite F1 drivers,Ayrton Senna,March 21st,1960 - May 1st,1994.While browsing U-tube,I came upon this,which I thought was really nice.The 1st video is just a memorial tribute to Ayrton Senna.The second video does show the untimely crash which took his life.There is no gory detail,media hype or any of the such in the 2nd video,but it does serve as a reminder,that being involved in motorsports is dangerous and it should be taken seriously,reguardless of the form of motor racing involved.

Ayrton Senna,you may be gone,but your memories will live on.



 
I know my thread wasn't completely obvious in its title, but ya know.....a couple of days late, no offense intended of course. My thread is only the 10th one on the 1st page, its not like its hard to find...;)
 
This is a late tribute by most standards, but this is about remembering the carismatic,talented Brazilian.

This weekend, The Monaco GP, is the most prominent for me. In 1984, driving for Toleman a virtual unknown, stormed through a field of turboed cars, in a non-turbo from 13th in a heavily rain affected race.

As this driver passed car after car, with apparent disregard for safety, in perilous conditions, the name of this driver became imbedded to my memory, lap after lap. Unfortunately the race was red flagged, robbing the brilliant Brazilian of his maiden victory.

Lap 31 was the red flag, Ayrton had passed Niki Lauda for 2nd place on lap 19, and was cutting into the lead of Alain Prost, at a rate of 4 secs a lap.

Ayrton Senna my favouritve driver of all time a master of the sport and an idol to many.
He drove and won in the time when safety was more of an afterthough and speed was the main priority, to drive you had to have balls of steel, and a mind quicker than a jet fighter, no driver aids just you and a machine. He was a true hero
