I searched a few ways and the closest I found was a thread from July of 2010 about this race, but GT5 wasn't out, and he didnt mention any cars im seeing in it so...

I tried the 19"wheel option SLR first, with just the weight gone and race soft tires I was fast enough to out due the GT1 S2000 turbo but even the race hard tires wouldn't last long enough. I could throw power in it and get far enough ahead to pit an be back on track in time to contend with him but decided against the pit twice as often cause im twice as fast strategy. Half hour spent.

Now my second attempt, this time in the RM lotus Elise 111R. Im in the lead by about 12 seconds, 2 minutes into lap 5 at 38 minutes with half my race hard tires left, I see the second place Lexus ISF concept just pit, but third an fourth didn't. Should've left the tranny at 180, its at 174.
Lap 1 9:07
Lap 2 8:44
Lap 3 8:52 (took lead)
Lap 4 9:03

I'll update this a a little over the next 4 hours, but Im thinking this ones in the bag as long as I keep the times below 9:00 since the tires last so long. I'm wondering what you used, how you decided on that car, some basic race info and the final result.

Update
Half way: 2 minutes up on second, third is with him (i changed map view) and i figured out I can get 8 laps per tire set using the in car view, the lap times are 10 seconds average slower but an extra lap so it's worth it.

yea, im not liken the search function here too much, i used the advanced feature too, set a date for a month or newer, searched titles an post separately, singled out GT5, included sub forums and never saw that one. It has a lot of replies too...

No problem, my thread helped me a lot.
I used a fully tuned Premium M3 '07 oil changes, aero etc.
I won by less than 3 seconds.

I used the S2000 GT1 Turbo thinking it would be a challenge. Lapped the others a few times and won easily. Think I'll do it again soon with a slower car.

If you use the same car as the AI, you're obviously going to win.
The AI is so painfully slow.

Yeah to be honest the search function does suck at times...

I'll probably be using a slightly tuned M3 (lightened, aero parts etc, nothing dramatic) for the 4hrs of Nürburgring.

I trust mine to survive too, I just don't want to put it through that. I think they should implement a save option but limit it to 4 saves for example, so it is still endurance.

Was that with the R8 LMS or the S2000 GT1? I noticed someone suggested to keep trying until these weren't in the competition to make it closer bestween the AI and allow you to use a slower car.

Done. Won by 4 minutes, 27 laps 400 miles, got an Audi R8 LMS, and its probably the best prize car ive gotten yet. less than 30,000 to lvl 33 now, started race at lvl 32.5 (almost exact). In my real first attempt, yesterday, the R8 was on track and fast, seemed faster than the S2000 turbo i chased in the SLR. I wasn't going to be able to keep up with the almost stock 07' Skyline. Thought to use the car an track as warm up for the Skyline 7 minute Nurburgring trophy, next time, tuned, yea. (then the X1, I also will try this race in the Suzuki GSXR/4 if the Audi an S2000 arent my main opponents)

I have a 40gig Fatboy, run it for 18 to 24 hours a few times or more in the last year, its been trouble free, I keep a fan nearby though, use it to.

Four hours is easy if you're not tired at the end of the day, if yer really worried get a buddy to trade with at pit, which is about every hour. Were turning the 24 hour Sarth into a BBQ dinner overnight an breakfast party, 6 of us in on it, I got to get the thing unlocked first.

I say use underpowered race car or an overpowered street car.

Joe160, 3 second win on a four hour race, thats amazing.

Against the S2000.
The Audi couldn't find it's way past the Amuse.

Just did this endurance again with the Audi R8 5.2 (just bought sport soft tyres, stage 3 weight reduction, air filter and exhaust). Still won easily by 1 min and 30 secs (S2000 GT1 Turbo came 2nd), messed up many times since it's very easy to block the brakes on this thing and it understeers often too. Guess I'll have to try in an even slower car some day.
