Few days ago I has returned to play online at night (several months of laboral stress and other things has gone at last!).

At first I has joined to a lobby that was first in my list, with a simple title "505pp nurb street" and was incredibly funny... 👍 I'm not a great driver nor a great tunner, but still has enjoyed it a lot. But my surprise has come when the next night I has discover many and many lobbies with the same motto :)

So, several nights having fun, but my curiosity has ignited: ¿Where this 505pp thing has begun and why "505"? :dunce:

In advance, thanks to who can bring me light on this! 💡

505 is just a good level for Nurburgring. It's not too fast and not too slow. It keeps things close and there's a lot of cars to choose from.

I suspect that like you, many enjoyed it and... monkey see monkey do.

I assume it's 505 just so people can tune cars right up to 500 and not have to worry about the pp increase when cars 'break in'

As above, it makes the racing more fun and close. I only really race in Green hell rooms online between 500pp to 520pp with roadcars, M3 CSL's mostly.

Anything upto 580 pp streetcar at nurb stays super fun :) the ferrari's , lambos and Ruf's come out then.
But as most say 500 pp is more controllable and many more cars to choose from.

My favorite GT5 online racin is Nurb 450 - 580 pp :)
Everyone who doesnt like the GREEN HELL should do the AMG Academy to learn the track and enjoy it.

There are people who don't like the Ring?!?!
Blasphemy.

Dante's working on a new ring specifically for those people.

Everyone should love the ring, always a good race.

Great tip! That event has changed my driving style, and help to make me enjoy the ring fully.
It's not only about being fast at the ring... you really need to be consistent and be very concentrated, and of course try to learn the different sectors.

I have had a look at some of the gt5 online races, I have not had a go yet but would love to. Great tip for sure doing the AMG Academy, It sure is a fun track the Nurburgring, having done track days there many times myself even really crashing there into Breidsheid bridge in my 205GTi its the most intresting track to drive. Am loving having spa too as thats a fantastic track but have not had a track day there yet. I will go online soon but need a G27 1st lol.

You, lucky guy 👍 ... my envy has climbed at insane levels :sly:

It's very competitive at 505pp, always trying to find the balance of car, tune, driving skill, and safe passing, to finish the lap in under 6:55s ~ 7:00s in a no AID assist, real grip 12 - 16 player race. I've seen 6:47 in a S2000. LFA and NSX-R , M3 dominate for consistency on this track. I use a Lotus Evora and love the consistency it gives me. Some cars excel in certain areas of the track than others, end result, very close races to the finish. I have a replay with top 4 of 12 , finishing in less than 1s split time, 4 different cars.

This is all I play GT5 for nowadays, are 505 pp Nurburgring races. Each week, I'll pick a random car, tune it to 505pp, and give it a whirl. I feel as soon as the Aventador and Spec 2.03 come out next week, I will be moving on to either Racing Hard tire limited, or unlimited pp 2 lap races with tire wear on.

505 or go home, if u dont play 505 online then u dont play gt5.

m3 isnt a real 505 contender, unless its the csl

best car for 505 ring r

hsc (purist's dream)
nsx r 02 (truly a masterpiece)
shelby series 1 (most underrated car, and my personal fav)
evora (lovely car all around, 6:45 capable)
ruf 3400s (surprisingly fast, and agile)
Lfa (decent car, but a soulless piece of junk imo, no presence)
elise (little elise, big pressure on track)

There are a lot of 505pp rooms but most don't run tire wear (annoying).

I started racing these rooms because, like people said, its a great level to keep competition close. Also, I noticed a lot of good drivers show up to these rooms.

505PP with racing slicks, no tire wear and the same small group of cars fighting it out for victory might be fun for a night or two but that's about it..on any track. Limiting it to Sports Softs or harder would be more interesting and bring out a lot more tuning and driving skill.

All noob cars... I ban them in my 505pp 24h Ring room. I also ban all prototypes and concepts. Thats when the varity and fun really begans.
Tire wear and 3laps, can't beat it.

500-520 pp on the ring and my esprit turbo HC comes out to play.

It never wins, but the racing is always fantastic. Exactly how GT should be played.

^ The Lamborghini Miura (is it considered prototype?) is the fastest consistent contender I've seen so far. If you find a good driver in it, enjoy the drafting from start to finish in 6:47s.

small note, as of Patch 2.05, tire & fuel wear on (any racing tires), all I can say is "good luck!"
may this Thursday's upcoming maintenance shed new experiences once again.

Why are the fastest cars considered to be noob cars. I do understand that is annoying to see the same car over and over. There will always be faster cars just like there will be faster drivers.

My biggest complaint would bring bringing a Ferrari or an LFA down to 505. Makes me want to punch a baby.

I more than agree with you on laps and tire wear though. Hardly anyone runs tire wear anymore, which is very noobish.

They're considered "noob" cars because even noobs are fast in the M3 GTR/CSL, Evora etc, NSX's etc. Faster, more experienced drivers looking for a challenge might choose cars that aren't quite so good to see if they can keep up with the newer guys in the hot cars. But on RS tires, almost every car is fast because the tires so overpower everything else. You don't need much of a tune either, which makes it easy and more fun for more people, but less challenging.

I almost always race on the ring in the 500pp range with my two favorite ring runners.....the GT Academy 370Z and/or the C6 ZO6.

i never even saw your ROOM! i wonder why
Lol at banning all the good cars and ur idea of fun, dude its just a game, people play this game to have fun. i play like 2 hours a week, why would i get on to drive a car that i dont like? Racing with the same 505ers on nordschleife using whatever i feel like is my idea of fun. why would anyone join your room and wait for 30 mins to race? i doubt u can get a full pro room with 3 laps.

480-560 pp is my favourite Racing class.
And my favourite ride is the Trial Celica.
It´s a FWD Car and therefore you get some laughs but you will teach them a lesson.
Topspeed isn´t one of the strenghts of the Trial => you´ll loose because of the Döttinger Höhe sometimes.
(Maybe not against the CSL, NSX-R with a Vettel style driver but almost).

Also the Toyota FT´s and the 86 GT are superb for this category 👍
Many fun are the small race-cars (Lupos, MM-R, Beetle, Honda RSC) at the ring for Cup races.
But maximum 2 laps because of the lenght of the Ring

If one is looking for an easy room, where tunes don't matter and most guys are driving the fastest cars all the time, than a 505/RS room is the way to go. But not everyone drives only 2 hours a week, some guys are tired of running the same NSX's, Elises and tuner cars over and over and want to try out some of the other 1000 cars in the game. Making longer races with tire wear and eliminating the easy to drive fast cars, makes for more of a challenge.

Now if PD would allow hosts enough room to explain all that in the room title I would enter a room like that. As it is I avoid the 'Ring most of the time online because most of the drivers are terrible and it's one wreck after another in the first few corners.

this with tyre wear of SH-SM and 2-3 laps sounds good IMO looking forward to test this when Im back online:O)

lol you are more likely to have snafus when people are tuning their crappy integras. comon, Would u rather be drafting a lfa or pontiac gto. Would u rather save a 30 min replay of yourself with no other cars insight, or a clutch, clean 1 lap run? I want to make the best possible time each race, so breaking behind someone who is trying to perfect their tune isnt my idea of good time killing.
but I guess if you play like 10 hours a week, it would get pretty mundane driving the m3.

Another thing:

Why is it that no-one here likes racing the faster cars online?

They speak of using Ferraris and Lambos like it's a bad thing...
