If I had a choice between grinding through the insipid mind-numbing drivel in career mode, or paying a very small amount for some in-game credits to buy cars, I'd choose the latter. I think £1 for 1,000,000 credits would a be a reasonable price to pay, & should be an option so that those of us who don't like Grind Mode can just bypass it altogether. The prices they're currently charging are disgusting imho.
That's the point though; its the devil's alternative. Forced to grind and ruin your enjoyment of the game or pay and pay and pay... Its the principle for me, not how much they charge. Like @Johnnypenso said, the credit glitch was a hallelujah moment for my game.

For me, the grind is far more painful than paying out a couple of quid for some credits. I have nothing against Microtransactions in principle, just as long as they are actually micro in amount.

Yes and No for me. Early in the game's life not needed or necessary. Toward the end of the game's evolution and you're just starting sure why not.

I believe it's €50,00 (= $86,50) for just 7mln credits. That's no micro transaction, that's more than the price of the actual game 🤬
It's insane, especially considering you can grind 7 million in about 2 hours.

Actually, I timed it: 6,852,000 per hour, including all the screen clicks between races.

So if PD is paying that value in credits for 1 hour of X2014 driving, those aren't bad wages!

How do you grind almost 7mln per hour?
I grind the first race from the x2014 standard challenge, which gives me 260.000 every 4.15 minutes.

5 races + 1st place bonus (1 mln) gives you 2.2 mln - it takes an hour to do the whole thing 3 times thus 6.8 mln/hour.

I should have infinite credits when starting the game. Paying from credits is insanity.

I find GT has too many solidus coins swimming about for the way I potter about in career mode. If I didn't enjoy the races I do maybe I would be a bit grumpy at having to repeat boring races... And the lack of a Used car lot and a limited car pool means that there is no rush.

Need a car? It is always for sale anytime... any colour... And I don't see the point in buying a car NOW if I have no intention of actually using it in the game.

I understand that other players need to have every car right away so they can play online and chop and change every race - and that is why they cheated the game like so many GTAV players did. (Didn't Rockstar get these virtual fraudsters accounts closed from their servers? - Bet some GT6 players are glad PD are easy going, good old boys that never meant no harm.)

---
Time investment.
Fair enough you just want to drive that Ferrari GTO - but don't enjoy the licence tests and the rest of the game. Chuck PD a few Solidus and you can short cut the game to get the content you want.

Wonder if they will do the same deal with Paint Chips... presently you have to wait to "earn" a gold to get a paint chip unavailable to normal play -

Where do you guys get your credits from? I can't find any races worth grinding except for "Like The Wind" race 3. Even with the 200% login bonus, at $140,000 per race, it still takes 4 minutes per race.

I can only stand to grind that race maybe three times in a row, tops, before I succumb to eye numbing boredom and can't look at the screen anymore.

My problem with a game like this is that there is far too much content for the prize money involved. I paid $60 so I could have a chance to drive and tune 1000+ cars, that is the fun part, driving and tuning. Not $60 so I could work the rest of my life grinding away at the same piddly prized race 10,000,000 times to acquire the 1000+ cars I paid for.

This is where their marketing scheme comes into play. They know you paid for the content in the game when you bought it. But, they can make you pay, infinitely, if the content of the game is not acquirable by reasonable in-game means. They know if it is hard to acquire the in-game content, you will pay more money to acquire the content faster.

A lot of you may not agree, but, IMO, the prize system is greatly imbalanced with the amount of content in the game. This is by design to make you spend money, period.

At the rate I'm going, I won't drive even half of the cars in the game if I play the game for the rest of my life.

Then you haven't done the Red Bull events - I saw a post saying 7 million could be achieved in an hour.

And it's nice to see someone actually saying there's too much content - I think that's a first.

I haven't acquired the Redbull yet. Honestly, I don't want it. I haven't done the events and honestly I can't do them. That car is impossible to drive without a wheel.

I don't feel there's too much content in the game (Hell, I don't think there could ever be enough to satisfy me) just too much to be acquired by in-game means. Unless it is your full-time job and your way of life to play this game, it is just not feasible to acquire all 1000+ cars, or even half, without paying extra money.

I had an easier time getting credits in GT5. (I want the seasonal events back! The new ones are a joke compared to the old ones) When I was this many months into GT5, I had more than 500 cars and was having a blast, I had more than one car for every type of race. Two months into GT6, I only have 75, and I am struggling badly to increase that number.

Then if you don't like the Red Bull events the only other option that's faster than Like the Wind is NASCAR at Motegi - it takes 3 minutes.

And many people have been able to complete and grind the Red Bull events with a DS3, I did it.

One other thing - your garage in GT6 only allows 500 cars, the rest have to go into the Stockyard if you plan on collecting all the cars in the game. But until trading returns (or if it returns) you're stuck grinding for credits to buy the cars that you want. Everyone has to do it.

I like the road car 20 mile races at Willow Springs and Ascari. (Super area)

Once you know the AI - you can get some tough races as you have to make up 20 seconds on the leader and also manage your tyres and fuel depending on the car.

Willow Springs is only 8 laps - And some cars (Light cars) can run none stop.
The AI is "very slow" - but you could say "The AI don't want to crash their half million pound cars." But it dose let you run a lot of cars - Stock 450-650pp - maybe a 350pp car tuned up or even a 700pp (ROAD CAR) detuned.

Ascari is 10 laps - and a longer event. The AI are not super fast so the same sort of theme runs for here too. And Ascari is a nice track to learn. And again fuel depletion and tyre wear makes the race as hard as you choose.

Red Bull Events are nice change of pace - and sound nice too.

Don't grind - Find a race you enjoy. A test that pushes your driving skills to the ragged edge.

If you haven't acquired the car, how do you know you can't control it without a wheel?

The RedBull Jr. cars are the easiest in the game to drive. The Junior championship pays 1,398,000, and takes less than 25 minutes to complete.

The Standard cars are not much more difficult once you get used to them.

I have no problem racing normal cars. The Redbull was near impossible for me in GT5. I completed every "Festival of Speed" event in GT6 with Gold Prize until the very last one, the Redbull. It seemed harder to control than in GT5, so I gave up.

Sounds like I have more work to do. Sucks that the two most profitable races are with the two cars I hate most in the game. Nascar just doesn't fascinate me and I always felt like I was cheating with the Redbull in GT5.

Anyways, thanks for the help guys.

Redbull is very doable with a controller. You can even get under 3 minutes on trial mountain for 248,000. One of the tricks is turning the steering sensitivity up to 7. Brake before the corners and coast at the highest speed possible around them. Most can be done by just letting up on the gas. Once you find the best gears for the corners it gets much easier.

We're talking about different cars!

I have not obtained a gold at the Goodwood RedBull event.

On the other hand, I achieve gold in each race of the RedBull championships 9 out of 10 times, and win the overall points (and 1,000,000 bonus) EVERY time! And I'm a crappy driver.

Give it a try.

5 races + 1st place bonus (1 mln) gives you 2.2 mln - it takes an hour to do the whole thing 3 times thus 6.8 mln/hour.

Thanks. But too bad I suck at race #3 in that championchip, and also mess up race #2 sometimes. So that means no 1mln extra bonus at the end :(

Not an option there for me. Maybe I would have considered it as a one time thing but probably not.

No for me, I don't like the idea of dishing out money for something I can get on my own. Car/track DLC, fine, those are unlikely to be obtainable through natural progression unless you buy them. Credits on the other can are.
 I almost missed it. Nice. Regarding the topic, I've purchased credits but I'm in a position where I'd rather have the freedom to spend than the need to ear. I didn't until I completed the career and special events, though, so I'd already earned most of what I would through game progression. However, after having seen a record of the purchases on my credit card statement, I just might be done doing that...

I've read and agree with most everything you've said, but do know the log-in bonuses and seasonal races came out quite a bit after GT5 was released; so it was the same hard grind-it-out game this is for the longest kind of time. If you didn't have time to run an endurance race (once you'd unlocked it by ranking up) you were screwed. I can't tell you how many times I ran and variations I put on the 500 mile Indy race lol. the chances of racing for even a few hundred thousand credits in this game are so far severely limited (I have to be "in a mood" to go for the Red Bull races, and like you have yet to conquer the last Goodwood event after attaining gold right up to the Red Bull event with few problems, so, I get you there). A suggestion? I just discovered that you can enter darn near anything in the S series 24 minutes of the 'Ring and win if you know the track well, which hopefully you do from GT5. I even just beat that event in the Trans Am (only 606PP, too!) by over 30 seconds (and yes, the BMW F1 GTR was at the head of the pack). With 200% it gives over 600k, so a bit better than a million an hour if you can stand the nighttime part that long. The best tip for winning this race I can give you is go as fast as you can on the more open straights, because the BMW really won't put up with lagging about, but the cleaner you drive in the corners, the more the AI backs that Beemer up. Once you have the lead, clean driving really pays off over getting every last millisecond out of the corners. The benefit to this race is it only has the one super-high-speed straight, so as long as whatever you bring can hit 200mph, you stand a good chance. The new Ford GT500, about any GT500 race car, Corvette C2 Race Car, lots of fun vehicles under a million can win this. Just remember there is rain involved and the tire attributes are screwy, so go racing soft for the first lap, and racing hard for the last two (assuming you can do a lap with less than a half tank of fuel) with your TC at maybe 2 or VERY good tuning especially for non-racecars. And it beats paying for credits any day.

I answered yes, once.
I kinda like to get my hands on a few special cars.
And, yes I know this is bad, but in ex. GT4/GT5 I had opportunity to grind my credits.
Currently this is not possible as the rest of my family demands attention also.
This means that I cannot drive whole weekends, or all the evening.
And this is also the reason I went all out with the Aniv. pack and 1mill cr.

Never. I paid enough for this game, they won't be getting any more of my real money until they give me something I really want (like better cars).

With current prizes of credits and what you get I would never consider purchasing them. But if they would give me 50mln credits for 5$ I just might do it.

Would you do it if the price was right? Or you would never do it because you're contrary to any form of micro-transactions ? Maybe you simply don't need/want them ?
I just can't believe they want to charge a person $49.99 for $7 mill. In online credits, that's more then the actual Game!! Are they nuts? Cash cows is what they become!.

On top of that one would think they would give you ALL THE $20 MILLION dollar cars fully tuned & then some, why don't they just charge a certain amount like Call Of Duty, Battlefield 4 etc. Titles do like the expansion pack for the whole season.

Think about it $ 7 mill. REALLY? For what FXX, Bugatti, & a Huarya for $49.99 in real money THAT'S 3 CARS PEOPLE! and you still have to purchase tuning options on them to max them out That is CRAZY what a JOKE!!

Yeah, but they also gave us RedBull, which pays about $7,000,000 per hour. So unless your hourly wage is more than $50, it pays to grind.

More than likely been said before but it's probably down to the microtransactions that we don't have seasonal races (massive payouts in gt5), have very few prize cars and have to buy an entire car just to get a paint chip.

Microtransactions inevitably change AAA games to surreptitiously lead you towards spending your own money... again.

Sure the developers always say you can get just as much fulfilment without using them and that their games are equally balanced but in a lot of cases that simply isn't true.

Like many, I refuse to use microtransactions in any game unless it was free in the first place.

The redbull junior is really easy to drive with a DS3, It's not that fast and sounds faster than it is, Its probaly the best part of the offline game too.

As for credits i've asked this before with no answer so i'll ask again, Why isnt it free? PD say they are catering to people who dont have time to play or just want the stuff straight away, Well £60 initial layout fee should cover that shouldnt it? If they care so much why are they trying to leech customers, With credits there is no exchange of service, I give you money, You fix my toilet, I give pd money, They change a few digits? This is dodgy practice and should be made ilegal, There is literally no valid reason to to not give the player this option free of charge and they knew some people would want total access and thought hey lets shaft them not once but twice.

The micro transactions are offensive, but certainly not necessary for success in this game. I own every car that cost more than 6,000,000, and I have 50,000,000 in the bank. Thank you, RedBull.

But look at EA's Real Racing 3 on mobile devices. It would literally cost thousands of $USD to buy and upgrade every car if they did not leave so many gaping holes in the code to exploit by clever use of its "features."

GT6 is extremely reasonable by comparison.
