Yup, been at 553 stars for a bit now.
The only stars I don't have, are all Kart races, lol.

Has anyone found any secrets to winning these yet?
I know some adjustments were posted before the last 2 updates happened, I was wondering if there's anything up to date that works?

Man, I can take anything in this game, lol. I can tune decent, I can turn pieces of junk into winners, there IS no AI anyway that I can't outwit. I even do pretty well in online rooms. But these karts, . . These karts are my downfall.
No matter how hard I try, I can't get the feel of the way they drive.
If a car felt like that, I'd tune it so it wouldn't. But I can't on karts.
That said, if a car performed like any kart, I would sell it and do something else, lol.
They used to be annoying, but NOW they are keeping me from game completion, and I'm not happy.

Any (up to date) help is appreciated. Thank you,
~D€MON~

All I did was to add ballast to make the car 50/50 weight distribution. I found the GT arena ones the hardest.

1) Add weights up to 15kg, I used only 5 on rear. Rear bias = To prevent spin out. Front = To make it understeery? Higher weight added = Less acceleration. Lower weight added = Higher acceleration.

2) Longer straight on track = Higher top speed. Shorter straight on track = Lower top speed. (some use higher top speed in GT Arena to prevent spinning out)

3) Intentionally increase top speed regardless of track to prevent spin outs.

4) Feather brakes and acceleration.

5) Don't accelerate hard when turning.

6) Always brake in straight path.

7) Avoid the A.I.s at all cost.

8) Avoid the A.I.s racing line. They're program to "ignore your presence" as if you're not in the track with them.

9) Don't race the A.I.s. Just do consistent laps (clean) until the last 2 laps where the leading A.I.s will slow down. Now's the chance to beat them.

10) Avoid rumble strips and outside of track at all cost.

11) Adjust steering sensitivity.

12) Practice and Patience.

No tricks to the karts except to set the top speed to where you feel comfortable and practice. Once you get the feel, you will get quicker. Biggest thing to remember is you have to be smooth, don't gun the accelerator in curves and stay cool. Each loss will teach you something. Took me about a week and a half to get it right. You'll get it. Just don't give up. Also, that weight trick will not work in GT arena, only on the first two shifter tracks. It will make the cart too slow to win. Hope this helps.

I found braking earlier for corners, taking a tighter line with the reduced speed, and then on the power early helped. Especially with the shifter karts, their balance under braking seemed different to all other karts, even the RedBull karts could be forced to obey your will by throttle and braking at any point in a corner, but the shifters needed different driving, for me anyway.
But the only place where I really found karts difficult was GT Arena. And putting shifter karts to automatic makes them worse, rather than bringing parity with other karts.

Do you have tried them back since 1.04 update ? With the update, Kart are really easier to handle !

I past 2 evenings on the shifter GT Arena race just before the update, getting as best result a 2nd place.
On patch day, I was going to have a new 'awful' evening with this race, but …. in only two tries I got the victory (first position at lap 7, so 1 full lap as first :))

I have found using adding ballest to rear of kart does help prevent spinouts. I use 0 steering setting havnt heard what steering sensitivity setting has worked for others. I am still workin on getting gold on 125 karting IB arena race bonk:(
I tried shifter once so far it was a lol show. These machines are like wild stallion taming or something. I did find out they make the best dounuts in gran turismo lol.

I realise you posted this a while back but only just seen the topic. That weight trick is only really relevant at GT Arena and it works very well....why you insist it won't work is beyond me and something I cannot work out at all. I put 13KG ballast on my Shifter for GT Arena, reduced the top speed and won the race, yes I lose out in acceleration but I make up for that with better cornering speed and exits.

I used everything stock, and managed to get them all gold with 8 tries max. per test.
It's crucial to take all inside corners close but never touch the kerbs ... in GT-Arena especially turn three and four are hard to get by ... just cruise through it (and brake as little as possible)... gradually get back on throttle in each corner ... the trick I think is keeping it from spinning and maintain a high average speed....
as I said on an other thread : the more I spun the more I learned to love it....

Hope it helps.... Enjoy!

The absolute best advice I can give is practice and adjust gears to where you almost redline at the end of the longest straight. Never brake and turn at the same time, and be smooth with all major inputs. They're a handful, but by far not the hardest thing in the game.

And also, if you start to get frustrated, just back away, you'll just get slower.

At the time, some members were using 50 kg of ballast placed at the rear of the kart to prevent spinning out. This setup did work on the first two tracks, but not the arena. Less weight would make them a little more stable, but the kart would still skid. This became a moot point with more practice because I finnally learned to drive It without any added ballast. Also, everyone has their own style of driving. What worked for me may not work for all.

LOL. If Mark Webber really wanted to prove that he was a good driver, he wouldn't go to Le Mans in a Porsche, he'd go to Pirate Bill's Super Fun Land and Mini Golf Course... After proving he was the greatest driver in the most difficult racing series in the world, he could go enjoy some ice cream and maybe some laser tag...

If I ever meet a programmer for PD, I'm going to run them down in a shifter kart...
