9.5-10.2 second cars

hey lads, down south in aus many of the pros have given up on vipers GTRs and all the tier 1 and 2 cars and have started to tune more cars in the 9.5-10.2 second range.

eg: rx7, supra, subies, f430s,300zx, etc

often we run sport and semi-racing exhausts as the cars sound less like a vaccuum cleaner.

this thread is to discuss cars that run these times, tunes, exhaust tips, cool sounding drag cars or to organise break in sessions for these cars.

if it gets enough interest ill open a room with it for people here 👍 also no additional parkbench wings please

yea man, my new c63 is a beast, with semi racing it beats a good supra by a car and a bit

also my challenger is basically dead on with a good supra using the semi-racing

makes rooms very fun

Who gets paid to play down here? Why not just surprise people when you make a car with less power or less parts beat theirs, letting people know what cars run what I think is what kills the fun for others, sucks for me when I know a time for the car i'm racing and I know it's not comparable to the car i'm using. With taking parts off, there is too much variation of what people can do but if you want to do that on a more equal playing field, try not using certain engine tuning stages such as stage 3 or don't use stage 3 weight reduction.

This creates an unknown variation as instead ofjust adding ballast and being ablke to position it to benefit you, you'd probably need a completely different tune for it. I'll be doing this soon enough in my challenge rooms but it is a hard one to enforce correctly especially when some people just want to beat everyone else. Good luck.

I like using my RX-7 RS (FD) '98. It sounds so gutless on the starting line while revving between 2 an 3 thousand rpm. It's more of an even match for the average Supra you find online and still able to take down some (poorly tuned) Spirit A's

I know you said nothing about ballast but if you read your next sentence about people using detuned cars to race, how do you think they go about detuning them? If they were not able to use this ie: by using less weight reductions which could make it so they can't achieve the same level even with the use of ballast or power limiting, then the playing field would be more fair and need less scrutinizing.

When i'm running a car that I know runs 10.5 for example, it's pretty annoying when I know the car next to me runs 9.5 and no amount of lag, treeing or anything for that matter will change that. Is all I was trying to say. Although I did smack a decently tuned Shelby Series One in the face last night with my FD. Was quite a refreshing surprise.

I got a tune going on my Camaro today with sport exhaust. It does a low 9.9 I'm guessing.
Also did an lfa up. Leaving the stock exhaust I max like 670hp I think. (might be faster than 9.5)

You should try concept type 2 rx8. 70 or so kg lighter than the premo and mine has 589 ponies

I didn't mention detuning so much for evenness as so taking a pipe off to make a car sound better.

And if someone lines up to me in a clearly faster or slower car I will move away because it is pointless.

Less scrutinising? I know about you trying to get certain times taken down because they put up one picture. Practice what you preach

And if they were to detune for evenness then that's up to them. Whatever makes it a good close fun run. There's no rule book saying the car must be fully tuned. That's completely up to the user. It's okay with me as long as it is a fair race.

This isn't strictly my idea. Anyone can run these rooms. I didn't even really create this. Credit goes to AUSTRALIAN-MMA really. He's been doing this for ages.

I think your missing the point. You can't make a set regulation for this. The easiest way is to set a timeframe for how fast these cars are. Because pp and hp doesn't always correspond to run times.

Nullifying tuning takes variables. For instance if 4 gears floats your boat then you can do that. Or if you wanna run your car slammed with camber you can do that. As long as it fits the time frame to make a fun race and not be the SSDD we normally run its allowed in these rooms.

It's one of the standard cars and it's only 3 hp less than a Spirit A, but I think it's lighter too by 10 or 15 kg, You'd think it would run even considering it has the exact same trans ratios.

Another of my favorite cars is the Crysler 300C. Just under 10 seconds and if you listen carefully it sounds like its misfiring down the track. Painted mine matte black with chrome wheels and gets a few "gangsta" comments...rarely see them in lobbies.

Any. It just needs to fit between 9.5 and 10.2 seconds but preferably closer to the 10s and can't be a detuned supercar
