That rocks balls.

So, I feel somewhat ignorant. I know that Senna died prematurely, but I've never had anyone tell me how. I assume he died during a race, but the only results I've found online are thousands of pages simply mourning his loss.

What's the story?

He crashed at more than 180 mph on a left sweeping curve on the Old Monza, he hit the walls and one of his tire flew in the air and hit his head.Which killed him.

This is a VERY global summary of his death.

And untrue.

He left the track at 180mph on a sweeping left curve on the Imola circuit, San Marino GP, he hit the wall at ~136mph and a bit of the suspension pierced his helmet and entered his brain. Which killed him.

That was a sweet, battle, it looks like senna blew his engine right after the race?

I love the part at the chicane after the tunnel (2nd lap of the vid) Senna really closed all doors on Mansell.

The f1archives.com site has some really cool videos too although some are offline.
I recommend the 1991 Suzuka press conference video, makes you appreciate what Senna was all about.

The '86 race at Jerez also has a very close finish between Senna and Mansell. Much closer than the one in this vid.
I have the video... but I got it off of one of the p2p softwares floating about. Don't know any URLs for it.

But Mansell wasn't crawling all over the back as he was at Monaco. He had to change tyres earlier and he just caught up to Senna with about 2 corners left. The finish line had been moved forward before the race and Mansell actually led over that.
