This is bit of a silly argument Keef. I can say the samething for any car like 430 Scuderia such as, "Why bother building a car like the GT2 or 430 if 70% of them won't even see the track?"

They add all that technology in it so the owner can find what suits him. Sure, not every owner will use different settings, but not every owner will use the SAME setting as everyone else.
Good point. But hey, I had to come up with something besides the usual "I don't like Ferrari because they're all cocks."

Id take the Ferrari, its much more look at me. Like almost all Ferrari's. Thats why id want it. Its fast, beautiful, and screams, look at me! Besides, you know the difference between porcupines and Porsches? With Porsches, the pricks are on the inside.

The topic of this thread could have been "Are you a Porsche fan or a Ferrari fan?" and the results wouldn't be any different. ;)

Imagine you are walking down a street as a person who is not nuts on cars.

"Oo, A porsche"

"WOW A BIG SHINY RED FERRARI!"

If you buy a supercar for it not to be stolen and that reason only you can have a porsche :)

:D

The Scuderia, because it has that wonderful MR look to it, it looks the shizzle and doesn't suffer the Boxster effect.

You know, the one where you're talking in a pub about having a high performance porsche...

Ohhhhh...both are such good cars that I dislike them a bit. But reading some of the other posts, I'm going to have to go with the Porsche: It's aboslutely the most insane Porsche since they started building water cooled cars.

Ah, there's a point. Ferraris are pretty status symbols here in the US. Plus, if I wanted a super high-end performance car to rape on the track and I could actually afford a Scuderia...I wouldn't be able to get one. Ferrari doesn't sell new cars to new customers unless you pay an absolutely asinine price. No matter how much of a racing enthusiast or fan I am, I'm not going to be able to get a brand new Ferrari quickly unless I'm a previous customer or my name is on the top of some chart.

But I could walk into a Porsche dealer, work out financing, call the insurance company, and be busting the car's ass around a track within a couple weeks, or even less if there happens to be a GT2 already sitting at a dealer.

Sometimes the "exclusivity" is just a pain in the ass. Why go through all that if the car you're buying isn't that same amount better than the other? That said, the Scuderia obviously doesn't perform good enough to warrant the hassle that is buying a Ferrari.

Nicely stated.

I would have a chance at taking the Ferrari, regardless of the purchasing process, because it uses cues from the Sharknose Ferrari (Tipo 156), one of my favourite F1 cars. This enhances the styling and adds a bit of history to a rich design.

That aside, at least the Porsche looks like a Porsche, so I would most likely buy a Porsche before a Ferrari.

My real dream cars are actually RUFs.

That's true. Ferrari even charges a huge price just to get a car earlier.

However, as I said before, I'd like to so which car GTP thinks will come out on top, not personal favorites.

Oh yeah, we changed subject.

I personally think the Ferrari is the better performing car. It most likely isn't as fast, but it's braking performance is surely similar and it's been bred exclusively for modern race tracks. They engine layout almost ensures a more nimble and stable chassis. It's also probably easier to drive quickly because it lacks a third pedal. But again, if the track has plenty of room for the GT2 to spread its legs, like Fuji, I think the Porsche would come out on top.

I think the Ferrari will win.

As I stated in an earlier post, from all accounts the 430 is an astonishing car. Truely fast in acceleration, braking and agility. The Porsche GT2 is just, powerful.

From the reports I know, people go on endlessly about it's power in every gear, and phenominal acceleration and top speed. Where as the Ferrari is reputed to be an incredible all-round car.

And for that reason, I say the Ferrari will come out on top.

Its dead even now. Both cars are winners in my book, but I just end up preferring the Porsche for its "deadly" nature in the end...

Why the hell are people edging for the car that scares you to death? I would never want to be in something that I'm scared to drive. If I'm in a car made to be driven at the limit, I want to be there in the most comfortable and safe manner, fully knowing how the car will behave. I don't want to be on the road, fearing that the back will split out whenever it feels like it. When the tail comes out on these Porsches, you're pretty much done for, and when you're on the road? I want at least a bit of piece of mind knowing that my car won't literally try to kill me if I slip up the tiniest bit.

This doesn't mean the car is easy to drive, but with that much power, you're dancing a fine fine line between racing and carnage. A very dangerous line.

Personally speaking, that is what makes it fun...

But I can certainly imagine that throughout town the GT2 may in fact be more comfortable than the Scuderia anyway...

It's really fun to throw the basketball from half whenever you get the ball, and have everyone cheer your name when you get it, but it won't win you the game.

Something that is dangerous when driven fast and probably more dangerous when driven slow is pretty dumb to own. Sure, it is a challenge to go quick, but that kind of character would just make me nervous and always be afraid to push the car to its full potential.

:irked:

Either way, when you wreck them you're going to be out $200,000. People seem to have a desire for cars they're not skilled enough and never will be skilled enough to tame. There's no way you're going to learn how to operate a certain car if you're scared of it all the time. That'll just make you screw up even more. So the bottom line is that I wouldn't take either of these cars because they're far beyond my league. I just don't crave that sort of performance. At least not yet. But right now I'm trying to tame a Civic.

There is the point: the GT2 will whip you with a bullwhip when you get it wrong. The Scuderia will merely slap your wrists with a ruler, like a catholic schoolteacher or the 911 Turbo. Personally, out of the two, I'd rather drive the Scuderia. however, to know which car is the fastest, I'd have to have raw performance data.

The 911 hands down..

Since I was given a Matchbox 1:40 scale 911 Turbo in deep green on my 6th, maybe 7th birthday, that car has always been my one favorite car. Nothing, in my book, of course, comes even close. (I actually re-bought that same Matchbox model off eBay not too long ago - a little faded in color, but otherwise mint)

And I must say, I am quite happy that they've again build a 911 model that'll take your head off if you screw up - Just like the old 911 Turbos before ESP and whatnots would..

generally low wide Italian super cars aren't quite the numble yaris about town you know;)

but out of these 2 i would take the Scuderia, despite the fact that it isnt my favourite looking ferrari, it is definately one of the fastest and would surely make a fantastic weekend motor!

That's why I'm questioning why people want the car that they themselves describe as scary and deadly. Even though you were : irked : by my post, your reply doesn't address my point.

I'd go with the Porsche.

The F430 is a brilliant machine, proven as a road and race car. And since these two cars are so close to eachother in performance, the prize gets me lurking more towards the Porsche camp. Also, the design of the GT2 suits me more, the bodylines aren't as dramatic as the Ferrari's, and even though both cars look very aggressive, Porsche seems to deliver it in a nicer way 👍 On top of that, it's a Porsche! A Porsche!
