go eat yourself a fat bowl of macaroni and dicks.

arrogant jerk.

wow.....that didnt get auto-bleeped?

hope i dont get modded, but you can delete it or have me edit it, DA.

First of all n3wb, you've proven yourself to be an idiot.

Try to be the king of drifting in NFSU? HAHAHA!!! Dude, drifting in NFSU. That's the same as letting a baby sit on your keyboard. The car automatically goes drifting, it's so easy.

Second:

Drifting with your 1.6 in a carpark? That's just plain stupid. I wonder how much speed you can gain on a carpark with a 1.6. What, 5 mph?

I would recommend that you stop saying that you are a pro, cuz your name explains everything, and your drifts in a carpark are probably just a few braking slides that you see as freaking cool drifting. Wait till you see yourself slamming the brakes while you crash into another car.

And ofcourse, we really appreciate your help psionix. :dopey:

For those of you that didn't notice. N3wb hasn't posted on this thread or anywhere else for over 2 weeks now. I think it's pretty safe to say that he isn't coming back. No point in yelling at him now.

that mess is funny. YOu know what the sad part is....some people really can't see his sig!

It seems there are more posts on this thread than I noticed. I must have missed there was a page 2 or something.

Anyway.

Personally, I didn't have much luck with that RX-7 Type-RZ just now. I seemed to lose control of it one way or the other no matter what I did but I did only take it out for a brief "spin" (pardon the pun), and I think with some actual time spent practicing with it, it might work. I'll probably try it again a bit later on. But I am using the PSX Control with my PS2 for GT3, so that could be one reason I had trouble with it. It seems like the PS2 Control is too dull and unresponsive for me when I use it with GT3, and found the PSX Control to be much better for me. So as with every other setting or suggestion posted here, I'm sure it works for some people and perhaps not for others depending on methods and preferences.

I've found other methods to get side-ways, which are easy too. But with people like n3wB, it makes me wonder whether or not I should even post what I've found out since starting. Perhaps I'll get a rude thank you for trying to help just like Psionix did. It's guys like him that make some people who would post on message boards decide not to post even if they have perfectly good suggestions. I'm just naturally quiet myself.

As he's made quite clear for us all with his user name, he is a newbie, secondly, I have never played NFSU myself so perhaps I shouldn't say this but NFSU , while it looks like a fun game to toy with, it is an arcade racer clearly and therefore you cannot take anything you've done in that game and even attempt to use it in GT3. Gran Turismo games have always had the best attempt at a realistic physics engine that they could manage. Arcade racers are just that, arcade racers. They have no realistic application whatsoever except that flooring the gas makes the car go fast and using the steering wheel turns the car and brakes make a car stop.

I thought I would simply post my response to the suggestion from Psionix and I couldn't help responding to the blatantly stupid comments from n3wB while I was at it.

If the learners want a car that they can learn from... try this:

Mitsubishi FTO - LM Race Car
Everything and Super Slick tires:
Springs: 7|8
RH: 55|55
Shocks: All 7
Camber: 2|3
Brake Bal: 8|24
LSD: All 5's
Gear Auto: 31
Downforce: .64|.66
ASM,TCS: 0|0
VCD 10%

Go crazy with it, it'll teach you as long as you dont FLY into corners... once you get used to driving fast... drifting nice and slow will be really easy.

As we can see, u r still under the "new member" catergory in this forum. but its good that your got my point. really it is. we r all saved. thanks a lot

umm.... your in the "new member" catergory too

Well, I wouldn't say more harm than good, but rather, it sparked some serious discussion that devolved into a flame war.

I'll could close this and we'd move on from here. But...you do bring up a good point. I'll start with me as an example. What would be a good car to start with? I've never drifted (at least meant to) a course. I don't really have a desire to, as I'm still trying to improve lap times.

So if I were to take this step, What car would be good to start with, and most importantly why?

Let's bring this to an intelligent discussion.

AO

Ok DA, let's do that. Where should a noob start?

Well, I say start with a car that has low power >300HP and on sims. Period.

I know a lot of people say go out and have fun with whatever and learn about technique later. But to be honest, when I started I went to the drift settings depot, found my favorite cars' settings and then tried to use them. Needless to say I was more frustrated then I can tell you. The cars wouldn't drift cause I didn't undertand anything about weight transfer or technique.

So, for a new person that wants to get started in drifting and really wants to develop their skill and technique I say go with.....

An S13. Either 1800 or 2000 k's. Get all the mods except for power. Maybe just a muffler. And do all three weight reductions.

Use these settings.
Spring 10/7
Shocks 7 for all
Camber 3.0/1.5
Toe 0/0
Stabilizers 1/1

Brakes 16/18

ASM TCS at 0

Gears - Don't mess with them.

Now, I know that the S13 is very touchy. But that's the point. Once you start drifting well with a light machine like the S13, heavier cars like the FD become so easy it's not even funny. I also know that the S13 likes to spin it's wheels a lot when you're starting....it blows, but live with it. It will all come together later trust me.

As far as technique goes. Use Feinting! I started by doing just trail braking and turning in hard. Well, that's bad for two reasons. 1) Your angles and lengths of drifts are comprimised 2) It just looks really weak. Almost like you did it by accident. So go and try to learn how to turn out of a corner then turn in. It will take practice to get used to the timing, but once your do you'll soon find you don't have any real need for the brakes except for really tight corners(drifitng with the S13).

OK, wellI guess that about does it. I'm sure the veterans here have some much better ideas with more indepth reasons. But this is what I suggest. Feel free to comment on this as you wish.

I'm sorry to butt in. I am a new player no matter how long i have played this game. I tried drifting with many different cars. And this forum suggested that the FD was suggested as best use for new player. I do believe it is a good choice beside the 240 fastback or the trueno, but the FD is is capable of using the best of the best in power and you will still get a good result. For anyone that is reading this. I do suggest you use this car and place the sim tires on all four. Play Apricot Hill. If you want I just suggest adjusting the toes to 1.0 for front and rear. If anyone disagree then oh well. Like I say I am a new player.

Hey, u noe wat? as a new member, i tot i was a newbie here but actually u r the noob around here.
if ur so called suggestion is so good, i dont see why u r getting such responses frm the old timers here. lol
so pleeaassee, take a hike, stop acting like a pro and give such SMARTASS suggestions. I can survive without useless post such as urs thankyou very much. I believe others in this forum will feel the same.

WHAT?

i know n3wB is already gone, but there might be some other people like him that act all badass just by drifitng in NFSU. although, i give no diss to NFSU. but my point is...if you are a newbie that's seeking settings and basics, you should sucumb to the ones who are experienced that give suggestions.

Like me*evil voice* YOUR SOULS IS A TAVERN OF MINE*evil voice*

My car of choice for drifting when I started was the Escort Rally Car. I really had to abuse the E-Brake to get the back sliding. Then I started using the RX-7 Infini III. That was tough to start with from 4wd to Rwd

I started off in the 240sx but had a hard time. I switched to the RX-7 RZ and found it much better. Much more flickable. I also like the camaro SS for real long drifts just because of the torque it has everywhere.

i started w/ a 1000hp nissan 300zx..... it was tight, but im down to low power cars now....
I love my
212HP AE86 S.S.
2**HP RAZO Silvia S15
230HP 1800cc S13 Coupe w/ SR20 (hybrid)

230HP 1800cc S13 Coupe w/ SR20 (hybrid)

I have that same hybrid.... I like the wing on the 1800cc better than the 2000cc... I also made a 240sx fastback type X (RPS13) with a black-top SR20DET (S14), Skyline brakes, and S13 Silvia 1800cc chasis (lighter).... It's now one of my favorite drift cars....

I also love my S13 Coupe with an RB26DET (R34 Skyline engine), and Skyline brakes....

;)

I used an Integra type R and i used e-brake hehe after that i used a normal 350z in GTC it's so easy to drift there in atumn ring :)

In real life you have a S13 Coupe with an RB26DET...i myself am thinking about it but is it possible to get the RB26DETT installed after all its 4-wheel drive.any suggestions?

IRL I own a '93 240SX SE coupe... I was refering to a car I built in GT3 (using my sharkport and MK's)... I wouldn't want an RB26DET in my 240... That would make my car a nose heavy understeering beast, even with extensive suspension modification....

I am planning on doing an SR20DET swap (S14 black-top) in the future (hopefully next summer).... Due to it's weight, it is a better choice for the S13 chassis....

Point taken, my friend has an s14 shark eyed 240SX and has an RB25DET in there and this thing is crazy it pulls like nothing ive felt before so thats why i was considering the swap for my car , but i might still go with the SR20DET in canada we dont get silvia's in sted we get "trunk 240's" so im gunna get the front end swap for a S13 silvia then the engine. 👍
