It's either...

a) Just you, or
b) I live in a different universe.

I hated it. And the book, too.

Having read the book, and seen the movie, I must live in a third universe somewhere between the ones you guys live in.

I enjoyed both, though the book was a tough read. But I can't say they rule the universe.

All in all, I'd have to say I liked THX1138 a lot better.

The first time I saw the movie, I caught it halfway through. It made little sence, but I was an unusally captive audience at that moment... :D I tried to read the book, but it was hard to follow, and I lost patience after the first 50 pages or so.

The second time; I finally saw it from start to finish. it was something different, it's more about sex and violence's impression on people. It's become so ingrained in our manners, our media, how it's totally unacceptable, yet we don't manage to give much of a second look at it when we see it on TV or movies, etc. It showed the mockery of correction facilities, and how absurd it is that some people get a much lighter sentence than what they deserve.

You go from hating this destestable Alex character at the beginning, to almost feeling sorry for him in the end. After all, The State is never wrong, Ludovico Method or not.

But the soundtrack is really funny (read: warped!) to listen to.
