I always use X and Square for my gas/brake and the left analog for my steering. I always have my spare fingers readied up on the R buttons since I am one of those people that always has to look back to see the front of their car or the opposition. My fingers never relax during a race unless I'm 1 Lap + Ahead :)

Don't worry, PD seriously screwed up on the rally physics. They accidentally simulated a hovercraft...

   Really? I thought it was a shopping cart... the kind with all four wheels on casters.

I use both analog sticks, mainly because it's easier on my thumbs. I can push it a tad more if I use the buttons for the gas and brake I think, but eventually I'll have to switch to the analog.

It could be a four-wheel-caster shopping cart, but only if that shopping cart had a rocket strapped to the handlebar... :dopey:

been using left-stick for steering and right-stick for throttle for every GT game i've ever played... left and right index fingers are at the ready on the shoulder-buttons for quick shifting and rear-view stuff... after a while of playing, my hands and wrists are fixed in a slightly hooked position--makes me want to say things like "Hi! my name Corky!!"... or "Ti-i-i-i-immy!!"... :dopey:

Does anyone left foot brake with the DS2?

I use both analog's and I changed the button configuration a while ago and made R1 a brake button (I also have L1 as the handbrake), since I don't really use Nitrous much, but in all honesty I'm not entirely sure of when would be the right situation to use it. I've mainly been using it at fast kinks where I'd usually lift.

Are there other situations where it would be beneficial?

If so, can you give example on particular corners

Also, do you lift off a little as well? Or, are you always at full throttle when left foot braking.

I've recently changed my config again.
I'm using the Right analog stick for accelerator.
using the L1 button for the brake.
Works well for GT3 and GT4.
Has been okay for GT2.

how can someone use analog for throttle and braking? i used to use all buttons until one time in GT3 i was checking out the front view of the car while at a stand-still, and i noticed when i used the analog to turn the wheels, they'd turn much faster than with the buttons... the analogs turned the wheels quicker in GT3, not sure about GT4, since then i've been using the analog to turn

In GT1 & 2 used D-pad and Buttons. Thumbs would go numb after several hours.
In GT3 started to use R analog for Endros only, but eventually got more profiecent with only analog sticks.
Now with GT4 only analog will do. Plus thumbs don't go numb.

My left stick is for turnitation. The right stick is the trottle/brake. Logically, forward is go, back is slow. How do you ****heads modulate the throttle and brake smoothly and turn without being all twitchy when using the buttons?!?!? I'm smooth as butter with the analog sticks. I can only use Sony controllers, though; I tried using a Pelican wireless a while back but it's analog system is extremely nonlinear.

Wheel all the way. Took me a while to adapt, but i haven't really noticed that i am now subconciously always using the wheel instead of the DS2. I do miss force feedback though, as it stopped working a while back on my wheel for no apparant reason.
