So, heres my senario...

A friend had invited me over to his house since he wanted to see how my style of drift was, and I was also curious of how he drifted, and here was the conclusion...

After we had a battle at Trial Mountain, Deep Forest, You know, touge courses, I was horribly killed along with my FC and Impreza 4 door...

But what I've noticed was that my drifts were always to high angled ones and 40-60mph drifts, BUT his were assisted with ASM TCM, and with assist of turbo, his fully modded Trueno was able to keep a good racing line with no problem yet his drifts were noticible to a point since he makes the rear slide a bit but not as much...

Now my question is, how can I control my drifts for it to be almost at a high angle, and be stable to keep a good racing line w/o the use of drive assist?

Bascially, practice. A high angle drift can be done on a racing line. Since your friend has asm, your friend's car can be stable throughout his (or her :)) drifts, and since tsm is on, the car can be full throttled easier without losing control. Drifting with drive assists can help you drift faster, but doesn't give you full control of your car and of your drifting.

What you can try to do is find a racing line using grip driving on whatever car you like. Once you find the line, you can drift that line by increasing your entry speed. This pushes the car's tires beyond it's limit, therefore breaking traction (which is kinda hard on cars that understeer, so you can initialize it). Try not to stray too much away from the racing line when initializing the drift, like when you're feint drifting.

Hope this helps 👍.

Get a low angle and more speed will come and then tell your friend to take off the assist and challenge you, if he declines tell him he can't drift j/k just practice

yeah, just challenge your friend again with no Aids and you'll see who wins(by that i mean you).
to be honest, im having the same problem, i usually work with aids on until i get it down, then slowly decrease them until nothing is on and practice that way.
^_^ hope this helps.

I think youre friend is still a noob and you should have slated him for using asm tcs and said that drifting with those is like as one person on gtp quite rightly says "drifting with aids is like riding a bike with training wheels" or some thing like that no pun or flameing intended.

tankspanker said it first, i found the direct quote.

“Drifting with ASM Understeer on is like riding a bike with training wheels” ~ TankSpanker

Thanks for the reply guys, since first reply was made, I started practicing...

Just to ask out of random, what are your guys average speeds on a drift?

average speed,
well in tight corners maybe 40 mph
in good 3rd gear corners, which are my favorite, about 75-80 mph (drop down to 60-65 mph if i screw up in the entry or in mid drift and didnt spin out)
in really big sweeping corners, maybe 90-100mph, not much of an increase
(EDIT: when i say 90-100, its closer to 90 usually)

depends on the car, power, and transmission settings, but thats about what i am comfortable at.

when i drift i see i have a style of more like d1 drivers than the formula d drivers i guess cause i watch a crap load of option videos but, my drifts are not as high angled but the long and fast drifts and smokey.

haha FC and impreza quite different drifting style...
one is 4WD one is FR...
thats already not bad...
and plus, your friend has aids on...
i mean...driving aids...not STD aids...
anyways back to serious...so it was kind of not fair for you, so basically you won in a way.
you should've caught him on that...
he would have nothing to say...:p

If someone wanted to race me, I'd pee in their face until they turned off the driving aids. Seriously.

Thanks guys...

Well I prefer BOTH FR and AWD...

Like really since I got GT4, its always been Subaru Coupe R and SilEighty...

before I expiermented on close to curb drifting, I've always been in the middle of the course...

Also, don't you think that before in GT3, that drifting with Racing Tires was a glitch? like really? I don't think you can drift with Tires they use in Nascar o.o

It's relative; if you have S5's in front and S1's in back (S5's are super-softs? I haven't played in a few weeks) or even S3's all around, you can keep grip with the front tires with the back ones sliding. There's just less margin for error.
