A Dumb question a about online play

Im relatively new to online play and ran across a drag racing room, a car sits in front of you and turns invisible and then you take off.... but how do you turn invisible, they control it? I have a Ps3

I tried pausing and select and all and i just cant figure it out.

I tried pausing

This is correct. When you pause while at a complete stop, you will turn invisible.

but i see people driving around while invisible, and they just sit there. When i pause my car starts driving itself to complete the lap

you gotta hold the brake button a then push start.

When at a complete stop, hold the EBrake and press start you will ghost.. To drive around as a ghost.. Pull into the pits the wrong way, just go into them slightly (not far enough that it resets you) stop, hold EBrake, press start and go ghost.. Wait about 15 seconds and it will reset you on he track, when it does this press X and you will stay ghost until you pause again
