Why this hasn't been done yet, or maybe someone is already working on it and I'm not aware of it?

Imagine connecting your phone to your wheel, pedals, shifter, etc and making all the adjustments via a well designed iOS or Android app. How about pushing the firmware updates, too?

I don't think it's something very difficult to do. The connection can be made via Bluetooth, WiFi, hard wire. Just dock your phone on the side of the wheel and visually see what you're adjusting.

I could list all the possibilities I have in my mind, but I hope you already have the picture of the wide prospective and endless features.

i can see where your going with this and sounds like a good idea but i think the connection would be the issue

wifi/bluetooth - doesnt this mean the wheel, pedals etc will need a wifi receiver in each one? remember currently pedals, and wheel connects to the PC seperately and not together. not sure where you would stick a wireless network card or something in the wheel base or pedals. same with bluetooth.

hardwire is probably the best way, you would therefore need a cable.

Thomas was mentioning something along these lines on the YouTube video where he shows the CSW.
He was pointing out mounting places on the wheel (not the rim) where u could mount a smartphone to be used as, I think he said telemetry etc.

a bit different to what the OP wants to do.

Also a probably more "must" feature is to get all these hardware makers to play nicely with each other. The lack of compatibility does not bode well for consumers.

I absolutely agree.

It will be a major selling point implementing in the hardware and will allow users to bypass the existing tricky adjustment process.

I hope this will attract an additional attention even if they already considering developing this kind of feature to provide with their future products.

If you look at Fanatec's comparison chart you'll notice the CSW will have something called a Direct Data Output Plug. Right now its function is still a mystery, but an iOS outboard tuner is a pretty cool idea. I'd like to see all these functions in a Fanatec Command Center for iOS and Android. Advanced tuning, saved input telemetry, shift indicators, and more.
