I just want to share my contradictory feelings about the external view and bumper view.

I`ve been playing GT since GT1, and always with the controller, I always played with the external view, because I loved to see the car from outside, because they are so nice looking, but since I bought the DFP, the best and the fastest view is the bumper cam. It is a pity that I have to drive a F40 and cannot see it, this is the only think I regret about buying a wheel. Driving with a wheel it is not compatible with the external view

I don`t know if you have realised that the external view in GT5P demo was right at the back of the car (this is the view i like) and in GT5P the external view is like a bird cam.

In last GTs, I spent some time trying to decide what color I liked when I bought a car, but now I do not care anymore, since I cannot see my car.

Just my thoughts...

same here man,but since gt5p came out i swiched to on board mode cause this is what i have been waiting for all these years!!!and now im used to the onboard view i cannot and will not go back to bumpercam....the onboard is so fantasticly real that if i play bumpeview now it feals really like you are sitting between the headlights of the car and that just feels wrong....:)

I understand where you guys are coming from but just a few observations i've made........ bumper cam in gt5p is different from past bumper cams. gt5p bumper cam definately feels like it's right on the nose whereas in the past it has been back further.... incar view is superb! i just love trying all the different cars and viewing all the different interiors... never used outside the car because personally it never gave me a true feeling of controlling the car... but each to their own..... i normally enjoy choosing the color of my car so i can watch my replays over and over if i do a couple of good laps :)

You are right in everything you have said, "it never gave me a true feeling of controlling the car..." I just miss not to see the modeling of the car from outside. They are so nice.

I just hope that PD include the same outside view like in the demo, just to drive once in a while from outside with the DS3.

I always race in car, but when i'm cruising around I love looking at the car in 3rd person, especially when you look behind on the demo and you see details in the background you normally miss, or the way the driver moves around.

I see where you are coming from, and I've been using the same external view since GT1 for the same reasons. But when GT4 was released, I started to get use to the bumper camera view... and I now mostly admire the cars by watching replays and using photomode :sly: … don’t forget about Photomode!

I still like to choose my color of a car, I have a wheel and I drive with either the Bumper or cockpit view. But I need a nice color because 1 out of 3 times I watch a replay :)

Pretty much the same here. Although I find the interior view a little to dark sometimes.

I always use the in-car view now since it became part of the GT series, I love to see the dials go up as you put your foot down.

I used to have the exterior view in previous games as I also was astounded by the graphics, I still use the exterior view but its rare that I do now.

I always used the Bumper cam on GT-GT3. On GT4 i switched to the bonnet cam which showed part of the bonnet of the car.

I found a few things with this view that made it great.

It gives you a sense of being immersed in the game, without the visibility problems i found with the bumper cam (a bit too low to see well and to judge the edges, more on this later). It's similar to the roof mounted cameras you see in WRC which give a real perception of speed, but you still get to see the body movement of the car under accel/braking.

It also helped with being able to place the car even more finely than the other views. Bumper cam always gave me a feeling that the car was wider than it was meaning i missed a couple of apexs etc. The external view as people have said, just felt a bit disconnected from the action at all!

I'm looking forward to trying the cabin/cockpit view in GT5P, hopefully it shold move things up another notch. It does also raise several ergonomic issues that you'd get if you were actually driving the car, with things such as mirror and pillar position and their effects on visibility. you'd never guess that's what i'm studying for my degree would you?! :p

Speaking of that actually, is the driving position in the cars just generic, or is it the position Kazunori Yamauchi drives from?? If items such as driving suits/helmets etc may be able to change driver features like anthropometry. It sounds a silly question but hey, someone has to ask them!

I'll be interested to see how laptimes compare for the same person using bumper and cockpit cams. I'll defnitely be comparing my performances.

On GT4 i switched to the bonnet cam which showed part of the bonnet of the car.

I remember that cam, the best bonnet cam...

MAZDA 787B, it almost was like going inside de cockpit.

I will also miss the flames from the exhaust (I don`t not how to write it) on the outside view.

Just think about it tho. IRL, we buy a car, and suppose that we drive to work everyday, and leave it in the parking lot. We drive it back home, leave it in the garage and go upstairs/inside/however-your-place-is.

We don't really see our paintjob all the time, but we still make a big fuss over colour selection when we are buying it at the dealership.

And with traffic jams, we see it even less often (percentage wise).

The cockpit view is probably one of the most sim like feature of this game; Not using it to play, IMO, would be a crime. ;)

I also love racing in 3rd person to see the car, but sometimes i have to do bumper cam or hood cam cause it lets me judge corners better. I don't have a wheel either, but if i did, this is how i would think about it.

When i watch racing on speed channel for example I realize that those guys never get to see their car, yet when im watching them race, and i can only see the outside of the car, I realize how cool it looks when other people watch you.. (i sound sort of stupid)

What i do is just save my replays and watch it after the race and its pretty cool to see what lines you take and its like experiencing the race from a whole different perspective... I think to my self... "That was me driving that car... im pretty good" lol

hood veiw was the best for GT4 for the reasons stated before, and i disliked bumper cam the most (but you do get a quicker lap time). When I play enthusia I do it outside view which is different (better) to GT4's......but for GT5p it will most certainlly be interior veiw.BTW in real life I can see the colour of my car whilst driving!

You are right, I now I remember that the interior of the Tuscan Speed 6 changes depending on the external color.

I can see the colour of my car when i drive... That's because it's a Ford Ka and they have lots of exposed metal to keep the cost down.

I love me Ka! It's like a go cart, i've embarrased several big hitters with it down a couple of the country roads near my house and in Mid Wales. Best memory is walking past an Impreza in it on a big downhill and sweep uphill on it (don't worry, it's a BIIIIG uphill and you can see what's coming when you're on the downhill! It's all about preperation and awareness). The look on the guys face was priceless. Not bad for a 1.3 8v with 63bhp! :D
