A funky problem with a hopefully simple solution.

Our laptop has a 'G' key on the keyboard. You use it to type a 'g', like I just demonstrated. Fairly typical.
It also has a WinKey to open the start menu. It works just as advertised. Also fairly typical.
However, these keys have seemed to become one. What I mean is this; when you press the 'G' key a 'g' is typed, how convinent. However, the start menu also opens, fairly inconvinent. This does not happen when the 'G' key is used in conjuction with other keys ('Shift' or 'Ctrl', for instance). The computer also emits a happy little beep when this happens.

The cause is unknown, any help would be appreciated.

It's strange that it's only doing it with the G key. The only explaination I can think of would make every other key do it too. Have you tried using a different keyboard?

same problem with my laptop keyboard, anytime I hit "e" or "r", it's instantly has two or three letter "s" at the end, ssso I'm typing likess thisss, orss thiss.

Sounds like it may be a physical problem with the keyboard. Maybe it neeeds to be cleaned.

Agreed.

I would also check to see that only the keyboard for your language is installed on the system.

I figured out what happend with mine, I went to clean it out and the resistance peice (that makes it harder to push), had fell out of place and caused it that when I hit "R" or "E", that it would also hit the "S".

I would, but there's no PS/2 ports and I ain't got a USB keyboard.

I would think that too, but the keys are a good distance apart and the computer beeps. I needs to be cleaned anyway, so I'll do that soon.

Thanks, anyways.

Well, the problem fixed it's self. But not after we had ordered a new keyboard from Dell. Oh well, a new keyboard is nice.

I had a problem with my keyboard (desktop).
Some letters wouldn't show up on the screen. You really had to hold your finger on the key for a period of time and hope it showed up.

The problem was that my cable was pressed to my desk to firmly
The electrical pulses that are generated when you press those keys couldn't pass through it most of the time :)

You can order a new laptop keyboard? I'm assume that came through tech support or something? I wouldn't expect them to give out replacement parts like that without actually doing the replacement themselves, even for something as simple as a keyboard.

Yeah, I didn't actually do the ordering or complaining, so I don't know exactly what was involved.

It was only US$15 + shipping, though.
