Hello boys!

[My background, you guys can skip reading it]
First of all, are there any girls on this forum? There must be! Anyway, I picked up a used ps2 and GT4 back in 2007 when I got into racing (credit: my brother!) and have loved the game! I have been karting since I was 16 (I'm from the U.K. originally). My second car was a 1991 Rx7 nonturbo. I have also owned, modified and tracked a 94 civic (it was light and fast), and a 240sx. I currently own a stock 97 miata :-D.

My favorite cars in GT4 were (all modified) BMW M3 CSL, NSX-R, Ford GT (probably the fastest road car with the downforce/power/handling combo), STi 22B, Acura DNX concept, in that order. These cars, for road cars were such a delight to drive and were the fastest in my opinion!

[Read from here]I know from gt4 that downforce is very useful. So in your experience, which road car is modifiable to yield the most downforce overall (especially in the front)? I got the 09 spec v being very excited. Although it was really fast (modified), even after optimizing the diffs, the slight understeer (not bad at all for a 4wd) wasn't settling well with me. I should have known from GT4 that a 4wd won't make a delightful car for me. I thought the spec v would be different. It was, but I like cars that TURN (i hate understeer) but also don't require an overwhelming amount of inputs at the limit. My arms get so sore=( it's almost as bad as with prolonged karting.

Right now I have almost 700K. I'm looking forward to owning the 458 italia and modifying it. I have a feeling its probably going to be the best handling and fastest roadcar for me. Other cars I have thought about are the 430 straddle, 670-4 superveloce, ZR1, Viper ACR, Z06RM (would this work/be ideal in the GT world championship and be an overall good racecar?), Altezza Touring (i liked it in GT4) and Skyline R34s (mine's, Nur, Amuse carbon R).

Please help me choose a bunch of cars. I have laid my preferences:-)

Please, to the point, helpful reflections from experience only. I'm so excited about all this!! So far i've been going online with my ft-86 concept under 250hp and owning everyone (i'm really fast. i lapped tsukuba in the ft-86 at 309hp and racing hard tyres in 57.3 sec).

Welcome to GTP.
To answer your first question - several including a mum, although she doesn't race. :D

The ZR1 is a great car, even better if you race modify it. I also like the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione (not really a fan of any of the other alfa romeos so that's saying something!). The S2000 GT1 Turbo, Audi R8 are also good cars. I'm no expert here. Take a look at stormbringer's list here for some in depth discussion on some of the best cars!

Mclaren F1 Is by far the best road car costs 1 million though.

Really good car two.

Welcome to the forum :)

You can probably make your GTR handle more to your liking by tuning it...

You can tune out a lot of the understeer most of the cars have by playing with the toe settings (adjustable if you fit fully customisable suspension)... try setting the rear toe to 0.00, and if that doesn't work try it at -0.10. You can also add +ve front toe to make the car turn in more quickly. Also, add a bit of camber... -1.0 to -2.0 is a good range to work in.

With 4WD cars try fitting an adjustable center differential and adjusting to a more rearward torque bias.

I would recommend the 430 Scuderia '07 over the 458, just a better car IMO.
My personal favorites:
'10 RM Camaro SS(Favorite car in the game, so fun to drive. It's pretty nice even before RM.)
'07 RM Lexus IS-F(Very fun to drive, especially with it's 8 speed tranny)
Mitsubishi FTO Super Touring Car(I don't remember how much it costs. this thing takes corners like no ones business)

The most useful car, I've found, is the ZR1 RM. The racing mod allows adjustable downforce, and it works great for several A-spec events. Plus it's a joy to drive with a decent setup.

Welcome To GTP.
You might want to consider the McLaren MP4-12C, It's perfect for most of the professional and expert events.

Welcome tot he forum! To answer your questions, my wife is pretty good racer, and in my humble opinion, the McLaren MP4-12C is a VERY good handling car, Both the McLaren AND the 458 are fantastic handlers!!

I have the FErrari tuned all the way up with 728 HP, and it runs circles around just about any of my other cars (some which make ALOT more horses) just by virtue of the balance.

The McLaren MP4-12C is arguably the BEST handler right out of the gate from the dealership, it is extremely hard to get this car out of shape, I mean you REALLY REALLY have to do something quite ridiculous for the car to lose it's composure, and once tuned up it is VERY competitive without losing it's innate handling nature.

I recommend the 458 OR the MP4-12C as your choices, either one will make you ALOT of money in B-Spec mode, and do not be shy from tuning either of those cars all the way up, they can take AND still handle fantastic.

Best of luck!

Setup is the most important.
Don't forget to goto the GT Store and buy Aero, you can get front, rear, and a wing, which will add downforce. Make sure to then goto setup and adjust the downforce accordingly, I start off with full down force. Also, practice the track before hand and make sure that you are using the entire transmission. Don't forget you can always look up other people's car setups on this website and then adjust from there.

The F430 Scuderia is an awesome car. Its about 1200kg and 660hp when fully tuned. It is super sticky and responsive. If you don't setup the suspension you will get alot of highspeed understeer, like exiting the last turn on the Indy road course for example.

But the jack of all trades is the ZR1 RM, or Race Modification. over 900 hp full race body work. You can win a majority of the races in A-spec. I don't know what driving assists you have on but in that car I run 1 ABS and 1 Traction Control with everything else off. If you run like that the car is NOT forgiving, if you make a mistake it will punish with you.

For your GTR Spec V
-2.0 to -2.5 Front Camber
-.03 Front Toe
up to -.5 rear toe. Adjust as you like it. This can produce lots of over steer depending on how negative or toe-out it is.
Up stiffness in the rear anti-roll bar by 1 or 2
Adjust like 30-70 or 25-75 Front-Rear power ratio
Full rear wing downforce
Up 1 in front braking
Lower it most or all the way but have the rear around 2 higher than the front

That should give you more oversteer and really cut down on the understeer. They are just guidelines though, everyone has a different driving style.

Hope this helps good luck. Message me or whatever if you need anyhelp.

After having my @rse handed to me repeatedly online by them, I would highly recommend the 'Vette. It's stunningly quick under acceleration, and corners better than anything else in the 1200kg+ category.

I'm still too stubborn to NOT buy one, and continue tuning my Ford GT LM Spec in hopes of getting some Ford revenge!

Although your post is more about downforce, you may find better driveability in cars with good mechanical grip.

The RM Lotus's, RM Camaro's (New and Old) and the Ford GT 2006 (if you liked it in GT4, you'll like it in GT5) Although many aren't specifically roadcars, they will give you great turning when tuned well, and the RM is optional, it just helps the weight balance that much more. The Mp4, F1, F430 Scuderia, F40, Enzo, Subaru WRX STI with aero parts or RM, Lancer with aero parts or RM (both of the latter are 4wd) Mustang with aero parts (The newer one) and the NSX.

As a side note, Increased front downforce can be counter productive in certain cars and promote understeer.

The ZR-1 RM will absolutely demolish the GT World Championship and it wins many events later on in the game. It takes a some getting used to and some tuning but it has massive potential. The Altezza Touring Car only costs about 35,000 in the used car dealership and it's a nice lower end race car. I know you mentioned the Murcielago but I'll swear by the Gallardo. I can't remember the last time it snapped loose or refused to turn on me. As far as supercars go, it's easy to drive. And you'll need one for an event in the Expert series anyway. The Ford GT with a rear spoiler is, like in GT4, a strong car.

Some of the best people I've raced against are ladies.
Holds true in GT5 and real life.
My autoX club has over 150 drivers that meet weekly in the summer and one of the best, and often FTD, is a lady in her mid 40s that drives a '96 Corvette Grand Sport in BSP class.
Forum member Kai is quite a good driver, and has a great setup with multiple wheels!

I think I love my F40 the most. I only have stock, but its freaking perfect. Not much understeer, if you push it thought it smoothly transitions into oversteer, feels great when you do that. You feel invincible, like you can never enter a corner too fast. 👍

I think you should get the Altezza Touring Car, if it shows up in your Used Car Lot. It's not very expensive and fun to drive. Was one of my favourite cars in GT4, too:)

You could also consider a Lambo Gallardo instead of the superveloce.

i concur, the ZR1 RM is an awesome car. the mclaren is kinda pricey but worth it as well. just a matter of what you want.

Keep an eye out for the Tommy Kaira ZZ2 in the used car dealership. It is a mid engine, four wheel drive coupe. It has an RB26 Skyline GT-R engine and is very fast and very cheap. Rebuilding the engine and chassis is really cheap, and most important of all, it comes with fully adjustable wings, front and rear. With a good tune this car can take out Race cars like JGTC, DTM, GT's etc. It has around 550-600 bhp but can be tuned to 750-800.
It is also quite easy to drive quickly and concistently

Hey there,

Personally the Ferrari italia is an excellent choice, very different from the GTR as it corners really well but might bite you on the backside for accelerating out of corners too fast.

I hope you realize that your positive (+) toe numbers are for toe in, not out. A negative symbol will mean toe out. You are effectively worsening the understeer by adding more toe in. Yes, I realize this is a 4WD.

Welcome to GTP! ^^

Now about that car.
Just buy C6 or ZR1. Upgrade it to RM. Upgrade it's engine to tier 3. Put on a supercharger and medium racing tyre. (Upgrade all if you want.lol.)

BAM! They do go fast.
Personally, i won't recommend you 458 Italia (and Ford GT unless put medium racing tyre). It's kinda hard to control compare to the others.
Just my opinion. Buy it if you like it. :)

Pretty much anything that can be race modified. Very few other cars have any front downforce, and even the ones that do are only a small, fixed amount (the Cadillac Cien and 458 Italia are examples of this). If you're looking for good tunes to make your cars handle better, check my tuning garage. I have earned the pedigree through years of Gran Turismo'ing and tuning to be able to recommend my tunes.

The Lambo Superveloce, my suggestion.

Give it a try, I'm suggesting that car keeping in mind both the downforce matter you're saying and especially the turning capabilities of that wondrous car. Once set for your driving style, there's no match against that speed demon in almost every type of track. Seems designed very weel for people who hate poor steering capabilities: this can take any curve as you wish and with not so much application, guaranteed.

Also, you can restore most of your money spent, there are so much A-Spec events you can win with this car that soon you'll be even with expenses ^^

Then, you can proceed to the ZR1 (C6) doing proper RM for more harder events.

Thank you for spotting that. I will correct it. Silly mistake on my part

changed that for you

Yeah I have a RM'd ZR1 and it feels as fast as my suped up Enzo. Although it under-steers quite a bit. Both are only slightly faster than one of the Nascar Stock cars that cost only $500,000. In fact for a road course race against medium fast cars I'd choose the Nascar because its so easy to drive.

Z06RM (would this work/be ideal in the GT world championship and be an overall good racecar?)

Get the ZR1 RM. Tune up the HP. Look in the tuning forums in the set-up for the "like the wind" race that you can win with the ZR1 RM. Use ZR1 RM. It's awesome.

Also any NSX. RM is better. And a Furai. You can win it in the Roadster Cup in B-SPEC.

Out of the ones you listed, I would not go with the Murcielago SV if you don't want understeer. My 2nd favorite car in the world, but its understeer is a huge pain.

Then a couple of those I don't know about.

If you can handle a truly beastly car, go with the ZR1. You can also RM it which is always useful. I'm guessing your a pretty good driver, but even then, it can take some getting used too. Any C6 Corvette would do pretty well

The Ferrari 458 Italia is always an excellent choice. Beautiful, fast, sounds fantastic, and easy to drive (even for me). It drives perfectly. I've experienced no understeer and I can choose when I want oversteer for decent power slides. The 430 Scud is a good choice too, but it's a bit slower. If the F40 has stayed similar since GT5P, that's a good choice also. I would also suggest the Lambo Gallardo, Mclaren MP4-12C, and Merc SLS out of the road cars. They all drive really well, haven't encountered much (if any) understeer with them. There plenty of others, but I just can't think of them right now

thanks for all the replies! after reaching lv23, and owning many cars, including all mentioned in this thread but the altezza touring and mclaren f1. this is my take: nothing handles like a 458. its so beautiful! no one has been able to beat me on autumn ring in a street car when i was in the 458.

also, for lambos, lamborghini really did something to the superveloce. it's hands down the best handling lambo. the gallardo definitely handles better than the lp640, but the superveloce is in a different league! very little understeer out of the box and it sounds just, ughh...

now i'm trying to get the altezza touring...it was one of my favorites on gt4. other than that, i'm not really into superfast racecars so im kind of bored of the game. anyway, it was an incredible experience while it lasted! i have a lot of cars if anyone wants them:-) im going to be giving the ps3 back to my brother and...

I want to sell my Logitech driving force GT. It's barely got two weeks on it. It's basically in new condition. How do I put it up for sale on this site? Is there any other sites that i could put it up on?

Again, thanks very much guys! Happy Gteeing...
