NASCAR Series... that's it? No NASCAR endurance races? Wait.. none at all? What is this crap?
"And when I said realistic damage they said it wouldn't work, I said make it possible." -total false claim. I haven't seen the slightest realism in the damage/rolling. GTA3 did a better job. Not a mistype, yeah, I'm talking about the horrible damage in Grand Theft Auto.
More false claims - "The Real Driving Simulator." I read somebody put it well in a post today, it's more like the real steering simulator, that's about it. -someone else stated that PC games have been ahead of GT for.. decades.. GT just has the power and the names. The physics were so disappointing after all the hype the commercial gave me. And don't even get me started on the fuel consumption.

~Needless to say. I'm not trying to bash this game nor am I going to boycott PD. I just think the YEARS delay it took them to make it ''perfect'' It's so far from perfect. I really hope many of these gripes will be solved in patches... but perhaps that's some false hope. I would love more NASCAR events though.

Just what I was looking for, another complaint thread.

Let's see. The duping complaint threads have been done. So have the X2010 threads. There's the birthday glitch, replay shadows, lack of leaderboards, "why are there standard cars?", "why isn't MY favorite standard car a premium?", crappy trees in Deep Forest....all done....:indiff: What can I think of?

Damn! I know! How about a NASCAR complaint thread? And I'll remind PD that perfection is attainable! And that they should please nobody else but ME!!!
Yea, that'll show 'em! :indiff:

...Hey I'm just messing with ya, OP, don't take it personal. :D I would agree, a NASCAR endurance would make a lot of sense, since NASCAR races are often run for hours....same driver, too. There's no driver changes like there often are in GT racing.

Haha, I knew you were jokin' the entire time, I have a knack for sensing text saracsm... > >

But, yeah. I know perfect is totally unattainable but when it's so far from perfect and they had SO LONG you'd think there'd be a bit more content. Oh man don't even mention the Standard Car insult.

Have you noticed that commercial isnt on TV anymore? I havent seen it since the first week of release. But damage is a whole other story.

As far as Nascar goes. I dont think they ever claimed the whole series to be in the game. Why would there be? There isnt an offical GT, WRC or any other series. Just single events tied together. Its all about the cars.

But I do agree about an enduro. I would of loved it in there. A Daytona 10 just didnt do it for me.

I was disappointed the indy 5 race wasn't a Formula GT only spec race....

I also miss the fact that rally is non existent, only being able to win a rally once and be paid for it....?

I can vividly remember seeing it at most 2 weeks ago. Maybe it was a Canadian Channel but I'm not rightly sure.

I remember an interview with KY where he said that "NASCAR's will be able to be smashed into little pieces"... Not quite

The implementation of NASCAR on the whole was a massive failure

I'm tempted to just grab some PC NASCAR game (If they exist) for my NASCAR fix. To think that GT5 was gonna be the only game I'd ever have to play with my G25. Far from it.

Check out NASCAR The Game:2011 coming soon. With all due respect...if it is anything even CLOSE to what the trailers and interviews have shown, I can't wait to hear the GT5 fanboy comments about it. 43 fully-detailed cars (including full cockpits) on track at once with realistic damage modelling and awesome sounds. But the PS3 isn't capable of that? I guess we'll find out. :)

At the very least the video trailer in the link above (real or not) should help non-NASCAR fans understand how "going in a circle" can be so exciting. (Notice how GT5's version of NASCAR is NOTHING like that?) :)

BTW - It will be released for the PS3 as well as other platforms. Release date is being advertised as March 29th.

Well, i suppose it was a very cheap attempt to get more sales in US (and maybe Canada.. i don't know if Canadians like NASCAR or not >< ).
But i would say it's kinda failed, 560k sales in december in USA, not that good at all.

Well, I'm Canadian. And my friend is Canadian. And we like NASCAR. XD But I don't think there's too many of us.

@ calan_svc
I'll check that out! thanks for the tip. The PS3 is my dads so I don't get a whole lot of GT5 time but If I grab something on the PC I could play all day.

I'm actually looking forward to this, especially since EA are no longer involved

EA Is no longer involved?! I have to see this with my own eyes to believe it..

*researches*

E: At the end of the trailer I didn't see PC along with the platforms.

You forgot B-Spec, not enough A-Spec events, Updates that don't give people specific features that THEY want, paint complaints, livery editor, photomode, endurance races being too long, regular races being too short...

Generally theres enough complaints to lower the presidents approval rating on this one title.

Unless the driver is ill or has other things to attend to like having a child, relief drivers have been used in NASCAR. In any case, NASCAR runs primarily ovals, and one of the roadcourses they do run on, has been removed from the game entirely.

I think its Being developed by eutachnyx (Or something like that)
Same people that made super car challenge I think

I was also really disappointed at how NASCAR was implemented in this game. The are missing all of the things that make NASCAR interesting like flags, pit stops allowing chassis and tire pressure changes, and long endurance races.

Check this description out:

Damage was realistically modeled. The effect of crashes varies depending on severity. Very minor impacts have no effect. Heavier impacts can cause sheet metal damage, which hurts aerodynamics and may cause engine overheating. A crumpled hood can also make it difficult for the player to see the track. Heavy impacts will damage a wheel or even blow the engine. Damage can be repaired in the pit stop, except for blown engines which are not repairable. Damaged sheet metal is removed, making for an imperfect repair with impaired aerodynamics.

Repairs require a considerable amount of time (generally 1 minute or longer) to complete. This combined with the impaired performance means that damaged vehicles will not contend for a high finish, but can still race for points which accumulate in the season standings.

The engine will fail if over-revved, and it can also fail from overheating (but such a scenario is rare).

Yellow flags could also be turned off and players could run any race distances of their choosing. The speed of computer opponents is also adjustable, providing a competitive race for players of varying skill levels.

Driving physics are realistically modeled in the game. The adjustable variables have a significant effect on handling, and the tires themselves will grip differently depending on wear and temperature.

Tires are modeled in much detail. The game keeps track of 3 temperatures for each tire, reflecting temperatures at the center, inner, and outer edges. Numerous variables can influence tire temperatures. For example, an under-inflated tire will tend to heat more at the edges rather than the center. An incorrect camber setting can cause one edge to heat more than the other. Temperatures are also influenced by many other factors such as weight distribution, toe-in, driver behavior, and the cornering characteristics of the race track. Tires in the game perform optimally at elevated temperatures, but if they heat excessively this effect is lost. The player can view current tire temperatures using an in-game keyboard command.

Dedicated players can spend a great deal of time optimizing the car's setup to perform at its best on a particular race track. This testing process is normally performed using the game's Practice or Testing modes. The player's setup can be saved to disk for future recall, and the game also provides a few prefabricated setups for each track.

A separate program called the Paintkit was included with NASCAR Racing, which allowed users to design their own race cars and import them into the game. As well as this, players could change the car type and the brand of tires used.

That is from the NASCAR pc game that came out in 1994!

That sounds like the nascar game i played as a kid. Never again did a good nascar game come out. The damage was one of the best and still hasnt been beaten i think lol. I remember also going on AOL and downloading skins for the cars, good times!

Welcome to two months ago. Nothing new to see here, move along, move along...
