I'm not trying to be bitter, but I just want to vent a little and tell you guys something. I keep seeing all these posts about "what car is better?", "whats a good setup?", "whats a good track to drift on?", etc. Well I got news for you guys. It's not the car, it's the driver. It's not the setup, it's the driver. And it's not the track, IT'S THE DRIVER!
Nothing will make you better but you. All the trick setups and hp in the world will not make you a better drifter. Practice will. LOTS of practice. I started using the S13 with stock hp and it seemed impossible to me. Now I can drift any car, with any hp, on any track in any condition, with any setup.
Just practice and find a setup which suits YOUR driving style.

It's only 10% car, but it's 90% driver.

That is all, thank you.

......Actually you'd be suprized how much it depends on the CAR.. Since FF cars CAN'T DRIFT You can't go and use a FF car....See what I mean?.

I'd say it all really depends on the little green monkeys that turn the wheels. When you get the good ones, it's mostly them doing the work.

Of course FF's can't drift. I posted this with the understanding that everyone already knew that.

well visit some other posts and you will know that NOT EVERYONE UNDERSTANDS THAT lol

Most people don't consider FF cars to be driftable, its mockingly called Ass-Dragging.... because... thats pretty much what you do... but then theres those stubborn people who will tell u a bicycle is driftable under the right circumstances so... ^_^

It is possible to drift with an ff, call it ass draging if you will but many fr style drifts work with ff. Examples: braking drift, inertia drift, and feint...call it what you may but its a sort of drifting...

Yamez,,,Feint drifting in a FF car ends up eith a pointless chirp of the tires, or you rolling...You NEED the brake in FF anything

..... okay that's bull. FFs can drift. If you can't feint drift an FF you're just a non skilled no good wannabe drifter. I know cause i have 6gigs of drifting vids on my pc and there's a lot done with FFs. The ass dragging that you people do is hardly drifting cause you just lose speed when hitting the e-brake. When drifiting an FR the the direction of the force pushing the car is to the inside of the turn, and same with FF drifting. When racing normally, the dircection is to the tangent of the turn.

Oh and about the topic: yes i totally agree. It's all about the driver. The drift settings are hardly useful compared to real skill.
I've drifted pretty much everything, including the suzukis and some lowpowered FFs.

hey its huzba.... i have heard about your ff drifting skills... can you please explain your style of drift... how fast you go and y you do it...

i told you Shinez, FF's can and will drift.

yeah bustwave.....but you have to remember...it's a video game....Second...it's a FF car drifting through about 3-4 consecutive corners...So you KNOW it's fake..you'd have to be going near 150 MPH to do sucha thing IRL and as I said..The minute you release the Ebrake..You're drifts over

This is so funny. You are arguing over something that has already been found out.FF drifting is @$$ dragging!!!!!!!!!!

I use the usual tactics... the stuff you see in japan. I've got this japanese "superdrifting techniques" video which showed me some stuff that really helped out with FFs. The most basic thing is brake control and feint. Usually i use feint to start the drift and then just control the traction balance between the front and the rear by using the accel and brake(note:not e-brake). That's what they do in real life when drifting or rallying. By far the easiest thing to do is just letting go of the accelerator. The engine stalls the front wheels a little bit, which makes the rear slide, simple and easy. I've actually made a few educational clips about FF drifting, but i haven't put them up yet.

How fast i go? Well it depends on the track, but usually i get about the same times as with FRs. In Seattle FFs are faster since there's no corners that induce understeer so you can use FF to it's full potential. For example on trial mountains few last corners there's a lot of angle on the road so the cars weight goes to the rear where FFs lose some of the traction that keeps the car turning, while FRs can drift faster due to the same thing(more grip on the rear wheels).

Y i do it? For fun??? I dunno... i made the "infernal four" vid just to show how good the small cars are.. i never thought about the drivetrain, they just happened to be FFs.

(BTW dori, read my previous post on this same topic)

I have seen real life FF cars drifting very smothly i wish rememberd where I found the movies but they were japanes i think it was on best motoring. Yes, lots of e-break but it was smooth and was very fun to watch. Even to the drivers from best motoring were impressed.

Edit: And they were twin drifting (or twin Ass draging or whatever) the whole way so they must have had perfect control.

ok if you want... but y insult something as beautiful as fr drift.. and i dont believe you are thrusting anything so d*ck pushing as you put it is just not good enough
