After spending some time with the tv (not that I am a freak that doesnt watch TV, but I prefer to spend time with my PS2 or the internet), I got the chance to see an episode from the Real World, in which this melodramatic girl was pissed because she had heard the word "******" to describe a crocodile in one of the many vacation tours they take. So, she was talking about the discrimination against Black people that still continues to exist.
I agree with Josh on this one, who the heck calls a croc a "*****"? Also, Real World is not a high-quality show, and everything they put is subject to interpretation and criticisms, and who wouldn't think that girl was a little whacked in the head?
Now I think. There was this ****ty movie ("Beverly Hill's most wanted" I think) in which this white hip-hop-wannabe kid was trying to get more in touch with the ghetto. In my opinion this movie was a total piece of trash, not only because the actors plain sucked but because the whole plot was a total crap. Isnt this discrimination against white people?
How is it discrimination against white people? The movie did suck from what I've heard (never actually seen it), but I still don't see how a white kid trying to act all ghetto is discriminate to whites...
Then, we have this thing about only black people being the ones able to call themselves as "*****" or ******". Every other people that is not black calling them with these names is an automatic discrimation. But black people are able to say "whitty" or some other discriminatory word.
Nigger and negro are racial terms, if you use them in a racial context. Negro, however is also Spanish for "black," so you have to be careful about context. BTW, you spelled "whitey" wrong...
Another thing that pisses me off, is when we come to use the correct "hate"-free word to describe African American people. I know that "negro" is a banned word, no problem with me, but we cant also call them black, or colored?. Now wtf are they? Is is some sort of cynism or what?
It's not politically correct to call the African Americans by the color of their skin, as is apparent by the banning of the term "negro" on the boards. I agree that saying African-American every time you're referring to a black person is a bit tedious, but I honestly have no clue what the politically correct term is...
My final take is that now it is bad for us to discriminate African American people but it is ok for they to discriminate or use hate words against us?
African Americans are considdered a "minority" so in the political realm any criticism toward them is shunned greatly. However, if they choose to badmouth the "whiteys" then there's nothing stopping them (that's the way it is politically, I don't like it because they shouldn't be badmouthing whites, but I can't go against the system to that extent). And you're right, this will be a heated topic until the point that it is locked...
