Hello,

I'm a bit unsatisfied with one little thing. It seems that I cannot change any member title, because I have posted under 500 posts. Well, not to sound like a jerk but in my opinion that is simply rubbish - ones privileges at a forum should not be biased to how many posts you have got, but for how long you have been a member, and the content of your posts. Now, I would have accepted it if you had to be a member for two years and have a Quality Post-badge, fine, no problem with me.

However, when I can just post 206 posts (205 after this) with no content just to be able to change my member title, that's awful. I mean, I have no problems with it. The thing irritating me, though, is that this attracts more spam and off topic posts than if you reward people with the content of their posts and for how long they have been a member.

This is of course just a small tip from a humble guy from the cold north, but I am sure at least some people agrees with me - I want to be known for what I post and how long I've been around, not for how many posts I've got. And you might think the member title is no big thing to complain about, but remember, you might encourage the wrong kind of posts.

im not a member but spam and useless posting is discouraged and most likely followed with a warning or ban. 2 years, come on. if you wanna wait that long youd have way over 500 posts by then. ive been here for less than a year and i already have a little bit more than 500 posts.

the number of posts you have should show how involved in gtplanet you are. all you need to do is get involved. look around throughout all the topics and find stuff you like to get involved in. I myself have a gallery and usually look in gt2, gt4, and the rumble strip for interesting infromation, ideas, and to share my ideas with others. look at people like duck, famine, tvrferrarifan, i see their posts everywhere i look, if you get as involved as they are youll have well over 500 posts in no time.

This has been discussed previously. It used to be that after 100 posts, with no day requirement you would be able edit your title. The spamming and flooding to reach that point for many members bordered on insanity. The decision to change it to where it is now, is the result.

It reduced the amount of spam and made for a better forum.

We appreciate you airing your thoughts, but don't expect a change on this decision.

Precisely, but there's no way of moderating that. Reputation has (sadly) proved to be earned by who you know more than what you say in most cases, so post count is the only option. It can't be worked out by spelling or grammar, either. A very helpful post could have quite a few mistakes, and 30 completely irrelevant ones could be of perfect quality.

You've just got to make your peace with what the software can do. vBulletin can't tell the difference between a good and a bad post, so atleast nobody is being wrongly awarded. It's not perfect, but it's better than no title at all :)

Could this be a possible new feature for GTPremium?

For a short period of time, it used to be 1000 posts until you earned the ability to change your status.

It took me a year to do so.
