Alright i need some help im looking for the toyota corolla a86 twin cam, the last model made that has rear wheel drive. 1) i need to know what the last year made? Im looking for a daily driver can anybody help it seems all the ones ive been finding have front wheel drive or maybe im looking at the wrong year....

You mean "AE86".

The clue is in the name. The last year they were made was... 1986. Sorry, the only year they were made was 1986. (truism)

Have you tried Google?

haha, sry, but i bet you're kicking yourself now for making your name "a86noob" now that you found out the car is an AE86. By the way, the 84-87 toyota corolla gt-s's are AE86s.

The 1984 Toyota Corolla in Europe was the AE85.

You do know that the "86" does'nt refer to the year?

The reason the name was changed (Not by fact, by basic logic) is that Trueno and Toreno can be confused. Since the Toreno is American and the Trueno isn't, it has the right of way.

I heard it was the AE92. Also, the full name of it (im pretty sure) is "Sprinter Trueno Apex GT (AE86)" .

*Edit: Also, a86noob, what do you know aobut the AE86 or did u just see it in Initial D or movies off of KaZaA? :lol:

I have seen a couple Corolla GT-Ss around, but they're in coupe form, not HB, are they the same drive componenets as the infamous white and black seen everywhere??

You should get a mid-80's Chevy Nova. It is built on the same RWD platform as the AE86. And whatever draws you to the AE86 (although I fail to see the draw of a lowly econocar that is almost 2 decades old) can also be found in the Nova.

Fake ass Initial D.
Thats why the car is so popular.

It sucks in real life....

Its not a bad car for having fun in. the AE92 is the next model up. hence the "9" refers to 9th model type of thing, the AE102 is the next then AE111

AE86

"A" = engine type = eg 4AG, 4AG e, 2A C etc A series engine
"E" = model type = Corolla
"8" = model = 8th corolla
"6" = model trim\ body type e.g. 3 door, 2 door, trueno or just plain sprinter etc.

This is roughly how toyota give chassis codes to all there cars.

Supra

JZA80

"JZ" = engine type 1JZ or 2JZ
"A" = Supra
"8" = 8th model (continued from celica)
"0" = there is only one body style

Supra
MA70

"M" = 7M engine
"A" = Supra
"7" = 7th model
"0" = only one body style

just some examples.

is there somthing wrong with you or are you japanese trying to translate to english or what that post is screwed, and by the way the only way i have anything to do with initial d is the FC3S model car i have, and i only have that because its a FC3S, and not cause its from initial d.

Wow some people just watch too damn much Initial D and not enough Speedvision. Also, the whoever knocked the AE86 up there....y? The car doesnt suck, in fact i find it drifts quite well when its stock, although a little better should you get newer and harder suspension. A weight reduc could do well too but that applies for any car. The AE86 has near-perfect 50/50 weight and has a stunning chassis. The only downside i can think of is if you got an automatic, aside from the fact its a ***** to do any form of motorsport in one, the AE86 seems to have shift problems when accelerating even without wheel-spin.

The facts on the "6" in "AE86" are wrong.
The Levin was also an 86.
The 4 door was also an AE86.

I didnt give facts on the "6" just examples, the final digit is up to toyota what it gives and why. They usually give different numbers on drifferent trim types. but in the AE86's case the used the "6" through lots of different trims.

It's fascinating how people memorize codes that no one in the auto industry even uses or gives a damn about. The only people who use those codes are total posers who wish they wrote for street racing magazines. Totally all time.

What if someone actually told you they were retarded...then what would you do? :sly:

Hey I work with\fool around with alot of Japanese imports, all the people that import cars parts etc use the codes, there not hard and is easier and quicker to pinpoint models.

BTW I couldnt give a rats ass about street racing magazines :rolleyes:

Well the Ae86 is really over-rated. The 86 is a economy car turned into a drift machine. I like the Ae86 and its because of initial d. I see a lot of these cars in my city, They are all turned into drift cars. The 6 inch exhaust the, the primer paint job. A friend of mine has the 86 coupe, he did his senior project on it. He even did a panda paint job. It was a really bad paint job, but the performance was ok. The exhaust was really loud, but i dont think it made a big difference on the power. Well this car is way too exagerated(sp?), thanks Suichi Shinego!
