Abarth 500 tributo ferrari

What do you think of this special edition of this 500?

is going to be limited to 1300 units: 800 red, 300 yellow, 100 blue, 100 grey.

It has a 1.4 turbo engine that delivers 180 hp and a "flappy paddle gearbox"

It should be fun to drive! Im going to test drive one of the first model delivered next week-end ;-)
 
I thought they already started building these months ago? :confused:

No the first Rosso Modena (red) ones, were delivered late July 2010, the yellow november 2010, the blue and grey ones will be delivered June 2011
 
I quite like it actually. The pros are that it is a great looking and undoubtedly great performing car. The cons are that it will cost a bloody fortune and who would want to risk someone getting door dings on it to drive it everyday. I see these being garaged for 30 years.
 
I like it, it looks like a baby Ferrari. Is this any faster than the stock Abarth?

I think the normal Abarth 500 has 140hp and the essesse has 160hp, so yeah it's more powerful and probably faster too. And it looks like a pint-sized 430 Scud, which is a win in my books.

I'd love to have one, but we haven't even got the Abarth in Australia yet so I doubt none are actually going to be brought here anytime soon, if at all.

By the way, the red cost €40.000 with tax the others costs a couple of grands more.
It is a collectors car, and I think in 20 year it won't depreciate.

For the performance side it should be good, I have been on a Abarth 500 esseesse (160hp) and is fun to drive, very responsive feedback from a quite small engine 1.4 liters; the cons are a quite high seating position, even with the bucked seats, and in the public roads the ride is really stiff, really.

Will let you know how the new automatic behaves on the Tributo Ferrari next week, I will post some picture too.

I'd tap that. :D Especially if they'd do the wise thing and give it AWD to manage the power delivery to the road.
 
The 500 is a great car, but this is just another cheap marketing exercise that continues to devalue the Ferrari brand.

^ This. Although at the same time, there'll be people dim enough to pay £30k for what's essentially a Fiat Panda in a red dress, so fair play to Fiat if they find a market for it.

Me, I'd either get a regular 500 Abarth, or more temptingly spend a third of the Tributo Ferrari and get a Fiat Panda 100HP, which would certainly be more than a third of the fun. And it's a bit more true to Fiat's small car roots - small, fun and cheap rather than small, fun and expensive...
 
Very beautiful little car. the seats are .... well, perfect. Flappy pedal gearbox is a nice feature what what kind of gearbox is it?

€40,000 for the cheapest without tax is waaaaay too much. It's more expensive than my car and it has also very beautiful seats. :D

Standard 500 wil do just fine.

I agree, the 500 Abarth is a good car and I like this version too, but yes this is just another poor marketing operation and if that devalue something is not the Ferrari brand but the 500 brand itself.
 
I think it was a topgear refrence....... should have dona a pagani and just lied.
I echo the comments on the seats there wonderful in person on the regular abarth, but i would still rather have a clio then a 500, and instead of this I could list a large number of cars.

If that's supposed to refer to the requirements for manufacturers to hit a certain CO2 rating across their range, then you're way off the mark.

This is a special edition Fiat. It is not a re-badged Fiat a la Aston Martin Cygnet to lower the company's emissions...

Then I must have It wrong, But I was under the impression that this was the basis for this 500LTD.
Anyway I do like the car but for the money I could think of many other cars I'd rather have the 1st one being the mighty new RS 500 Focus If I was to pick a LTD edition.
 
Say what you will, but this baby Ferrari 500 is brilliant. I really want to see a 500 and F430 Scud photo-shoot. Much more desirable than the Cygnet.
 
Too many hot 500s. Now the Abarth doesn't seem too special.

Not really. At least the Cygnet gets an upgrade from Aston Martin's interior specialists. What does this get - a Ferrari badge on the dashboard? It's about as much to do with Ferrari as Oregon Scientific alarm clock I had when I was 13.

-New Turbine
-New "Monza Record" exhaust system
- Slip differential
- Stiffer suspension (than the Abarth 500 ss)
- Upgraded Brembo brakes
- NEW sequential gearbox, apparently this is being produced thanks to Ferrari technician's expertise

Aesthetics:

-New Bucket seats, designed by Seabelt - carbon fiber.
-Carbon fiber dashboard
-Carbon fiber mirrors
-Custom paint job to match the Ferrari's Scuderia
-Abarth&Ferrari badges
-Ferrari designed wheels

I like the Aston cygnet but that one is like a IQ with a fancy dress, and to be honest I don't feel comparing the two, The Abarth, is an Abarth that wants to celebrate his good relationship with Ferrari by releasing a special ed. model, The Aston cygnet is a courtesy car, very similar to the 500 ferrari dealer edition.

Then I stand corrected - they have made quite a few changes, but the only things Ferrari are still aesthetic. It's a 500 Abarth with red paint and some wheels that look like they've been on a Ferrari at some point. Everything else (including the seats which have been available as an option for over a year) still has little to do with Ferrari. Well that and the sequential gearbox, which is about as pointless-an upgrade as everything else they've added here.

But yes, I'll concede that it's more than a simple stick-a-Ferrari-badge-on-it job - it's a stick-a-Ferrari-badge-and-eleven-thousand-other-pointless-bits-on-it job.


...and incidentally my alarm clock was red and had some carbon fibre bits stuck to it, so it's *still* really no more Ferrari than that.
 
And it's thirty grand. Fair play if anyone likes it but I think it's both extremely tacky and ridiculously expensive.
