đź’ˇ I have a brilliant idea for Kazunori Yamauchi and PD working on the upgradation for the standard cars. Do you remember the Toyota FT-86 Concept II ’11 having the interior of a standard car but the outside of a premium car? Well. I was thinking about instead of PD working so hard of upgrading the standard cars into premium with interiors, why not upgrade the standard cars into premuim "without" the need of a interior but based on the "Spec 2.0" interiors of the standard cars. That way, it won't be to much of a struggle because if it were me, I would feel the same. :nervous: How do you think of my idea? :) Comment what you think about my idea. 👍 I was also thinking about what will happen if some of the less importent standard cars get taken out in GT6 is why I made this thread by the way. :)

That car dose not have an interior view due to it being a concept car, same with the gtr concept car, I will be very disappointed if there are ANY standard cars in gt6

Still would it speed up premiums if just the exterior was upgraded

Edit: actually ignore that the interiors are part of the premium experience

Yes I don't use interior view much online but I use it in aspec and love it, I would miss it if pd cut corners. Good idea and those who don't care for the interior view am sure would go for it.

Yeah I thought the same thing thats why I had to edit my post

I wanna drive a premium saleen s7, and with the cockpit view!! And possibly, with a more original sound

So are you saying that you would prefer cars to be excluded from GT-6 if there isn't a premium version?

I'm pretty sure in GT6 there won't be no more standard cars period that's for sure. lol, I was just thinking some of the japanese cars that looked like others will be replace by the new cars maybe? But now I see how importent interior view is to some people. :)

I just bought a Chaparral 2J which is a standard car. When I first used it I was pleasantly suprised to see a very accurate dash, wheel and tiny windshield. The gauges don't move but this car has the most open feel of any car that I have including the Morrison Corvette and the Cobra.
When I watch replays the car looks good. The white color is a good fit for the standard cars. When the view is very close you can see a slight drop off of detail.

it would be cool if the Cougar XR7 had a real interior view. i have this car in real but not the XR7 but still look very alike they could take pictures and put those pictures into the game

In all seriousness, it is probably down to what the 2nd post said. But a little bit of effort wouldn't have gone amiss.

I suppose that Toyota FT-86 Concept II ’11 has gone into my head when thought about this. I just thought it would have been much faster to finish. lol :D But then again the standard cars are becomeing premium so there has to be interiors for them all. ;) But I'm so eager to see them when there done though.

Sorry if I'm a bit slow off the mark here but has this been confirmed as happening by PD?

I dont think I have heard of any plans for standards to be made premium

Hmm. In GT Planet there was a post about it but if that's the case of adding cars to the game, I'm so cool with that idea. I don't really find the standard cars a big deal though, because through the updates they look slightly premium now. Despite them not having any interior looks like the premium cars, I guess they look just right. Adding new cars to the game sounds like the better idea. ;) Thanks for reminding me about that, I totally forgot about that post from before. I just thought if they were continuing the upgradation of the standard cars to premium, I thought I could share this idea with everyone just in case. :) I guess I see no point of making this forum then. lol

UM..NO thanks..And wrong car..Your thinking of the GT-R Concept, not the FT-86 II Concept..

Standard Cars have NO place in GT5.. Kaz is weak minded to add them for Sony..

@playnthru
You DO know it was just, "my opinion idea" right? It's not a big deal...

And you're thinking of the GT-R Proto, not GT-R concept. The GT-R concept is a standard car with standard interior view. The GT-R Proto is a premium car with NO interior view. And the FT-86 II Concept is a premium car with a standard (blacked out) interior view.

There is this concept in software engineering called code reuse.

The reason standard cars exist in the game is not because of interiors, it is because of the entire process it takes to license the cad files from the manufacturer, simplify them so they will perform in the game environment, and debug any polygon malfunctions as shadows are cast over them. The process is extensive.

If PD had the time, resources, and budget to make 800 premium cars they probably would do so. But with the state of the global economy, the gaming industry is suffering like everyone else. GT5 has half the sales of GT3, which means PD probably has half the number of employees dedicated to it and half the budget for improvements. Be thankful you are getting new car packs...but if you think 800 cars are going to render and debug themselves you are sadly mistaken.

Expect more premium packs to purchase and more premium cars in GT6, and expect things to flop again when the PS4 comes out. Otherwise, just don't use the standard cars because if they weren't available in their crude form, they wouldn't be available at all.

But if they say "No upgrades of standards to premiums"...
Does that not mean that we will NEVER see certain cars in future GTs again, like the veyron, or, to name cars I care much more about: Lotus Esprit Turbo HC, Renault Alpines, the RUFs, the Corvette C4? Unless they launch another "apollo project", as Kaz put it, and start everything from scratch?

Or was that what was meant with "flop again when the PS4 comes out"?

I pretty sure he means just for GT5. He has said in the past that they were gonna make more cars premium, but ran out of time, so they have probably been upgrading cars for GT6.

I think the conversion standard-to-premium is in progress but for GT6.

Too bad they didn't provide a patch to improve a little more standard cars poly counts.

Sure, new rims make them look better, but some looks like their done of 8 squares put together :-P

The weakest point of standard cars are aero modifications. But just like EVERY cars in GT5, there too few aero elements to put on cars. I'm not talking about visual tuning, but aero one. There is nearly impossible to ajust front downforce except race cars. That's a shame :-(
