I decided to create this thread because I need to clear something up.
1.When braking in a straight line, I can feel the controller vibrating, is this a simulation of the vibration in real cars?
2.Do different cars have different limits for ABS, because I feel the ABS on Subaru's usually come on sooner then the ones on BMW's.
3.Do ABS systems help to reduce tire wear?

Thanks for replying! (I hope there isn't a thread like this before, I checked thou and there wasn't any that could answer theses questions):ouch:

1: i dont think a real car will vibrate when braking, at least it hasnt for me >_>
2 and 3: Is there any ABS in this game? i never noticed it

FYI, the game uses an ABS system for stock unmodified cars like other driving aids.

1. Yes real cars do vibrate when braking hard in an ABS equipped vehicle. You can feel it through the pedal as the car will pulse the brakes very quickly (hence ABS).

The reason the controller vibrates when braking is to simulate tire sqirm.

2. Not sure if it varies between cars

3. Should, if the tires slip in game you will heat them up faster.

Yep, and with older cars it's very noticiable... The first versions of Antilockbrake systems could shake your toothfillings off. My first real life experience with ABS was a Citroen CX -88 2.5 twinturbo... ...and the whole car use to shake rattle and roll on hard braking.

i don't think you've drive your car hard enough. ABS is vibrate violently if activated.

yeah in real life the cars steering wheel and clutch can vibrate when the wheels need balancing

We are talking about the vibration that is created by ABS, and not vibration caused by wheel misalignment.

Thought I would chime in. I know what the creator of the thread is speaking of. Now I noticed the vibrating, which happens in all cars, a long while ago.
It happens when you threshold brake, you can still attempt it even with ABS. I was tearing around the Nurb in the BMW Maclaren, had to slow down for a corner, depressing the brake button i noticed that the controller started rumbling and then it registered, this has happened many times before, always under high speed braking. ABS is pulsing at an increased rate, but before ABS kicked in I was already braking close to threshold, and the controller started vibrating. If you notice this doesn't really happen under full braking, you tires will lock up and give you understeer, yes ABS ain't all that.

Try it, those of you with excellent thumb control, drive at high speeds and then brake, watch the meter and make sure it doesn't go full red, while you are depressing the brake you will feel the vibration. Happens often at high speed, give it a whirl.

if im not mistaken, wouldnt the BMW McLaren NOT have ABS considering it is a race car? so in that instance, you cant avoid the wheels locking up.

In GT4 all cars have ABS, you can lock any cars wheels given enough moment, with or without ABS. ABS tries to prevent lock up, but it doesn't stop it totally, if it did, they would call it total control braking. ABS works well at low to mid range stops, but higher speeds means it has to work overtime, because the rotations are more frequent. I do wish that GT had the option to disable ABS, because it would make threshold braking a lot easier to do. As is said you can still threshold brake, but it doesn't last very long, you will get that shudder and the controls rumble for a little bit then ABS takes over, works well in a game.
