Hi guys,
First off I will start by saying I am hugely passionate for Cobras, and my dad owns a replica in real life. I have seen the Caterham club get lots of sucess, and considering the Cobra is one of the most replicated cars in the world, it must be able to pull in as many members as them!

Hopefully people will take joy in racing these pure racing cars.

The races will be held whenever it suits people, and the cars will have to be ran on the following set up: (GTAuto Wheels Are Not Allowed Due To Enhancing Performance)

Racers are expected to follow these rules:

No intentional ramming/collisions with other drivers. If ramming happens during a race, and the person responsable does not let the victim regain thier place, or if the collision is deemed violent (Replays will be used to check) then the suspect faces expulsion from the racing events.
If someone has overtaken you mid corner, do not cut across them. 1 block is allowed per race, and they are only permitted on straights. Do not attempt to initiate more than one block, as replays will always be watched.
Be careful when passing not to crash into peoples blocks.
On Qualifying runs, Let the people on hotlaps through.
Cutting Corners is not allowed, however, we see that if the braking zone is missed, or someone is hit across a shortcut in an accident, then they should be able to continue the race without being penalised

I'm Game, I too love the Cobra. GTP_jswilli1. I believe you are only 2hrs ahead of me (Eastern). I have been wanting to buy the Guardsman Blue with white stripes! I already have the Chrome line and a grey Cobra I got from one of the races. See ya on the track:tup:

I'm still laughing at that , stick every hp raising part there is on a car, then say you can't put different wheels on it because they enhance performance.

laugh all you want, but for those who want the classic cobra look are not wanting to slap boy racer wheels on, are they?
 
Not clear how this works.

I guess people that feel like running Cobras just go to the MyLounge of TeamLotus_Europa (I'll send a friend request), if you are the first you chose the track, otherwise you join in on the running action?

At this moment I just want to run it with my Chromeline Cobra, will look into your rules later and set up a machine like that.

Seriously though, what is your problem? Ofcourse I am not putting a ban on colours.

Do the math. 15 inch wheels on the original are somewhat bad for performance due to the thick tyre wall causing friction in turning. 17 inch wheels or so from the GTAuto have low profile tyres, thus reducing tyre resistance, thus enhancing performance.

I'll play you out, buddy...

It will be more planned than that, once we will get some more members, we will actually set tournaments and such. :)

i do have a question though. what type of driving aids are you going to allow?

as we all know, real Cobras don't have TCS, let alone all the fake additional Skid Recovery, etc crap that GT5 allows, so if this is a club for people who really love the Cobra, it would seem to follow as a matter of logic that we disallow all driving aids.

however, that being said, the amount of additional power that can be added by tuning the cars makes them VERY difficult to drive in the game without at least TCS turned on.

i would propose a compromise, allowing TCS and ABS ONLY - no NO SRF or ASM. driving line i don't think matters, and might even the playing field for those unfamiliar with a given track, so i could go either way on that one.

Abs is fine, TC just takes the fun away :)
 
I'm interested in racing the AC Cobra, but not with that absurd tuning. This car is an all-time classic. What's wrong with racing it stock? It already has an exceptional power to weight ratio requiring great patience & skill to keep on the track. Adding the extra HP & racing softs turns it into a completely different beast - you may as well race a modern car.
