Worse. I think AC lacks realism in the gameplay. e.g. 70+ missles. I beat the 4th the afternoon I bought it.

(Note) I own Air Combat (<Badass game when it was new), Ace Combat 2 (<Sweet final plane), Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere (<the best.. AC2 is close..), and Ace Combat 4. (<Best graphics, but the most boring imo)

AC isn't trying to go for realism though. Criticizing AC for lack of realism is like criticizing CS for a lack of realism, both games don't try to be realistic in the slightest (aside from real world aircraft/weapons). The AC team concentrates on making the game as fun as possible by giving the player excessive amounts of ordnance for instance, because if we didn't have 50+ missiles on all planes, we'd be flying back to rearm every minute in some of the levels.

It didn't feel like they changed much in terms of gameplay, but it's something that I don't mind so much (a lot like how it's really hard to feel the difference gameplay between the Gran Turismos). I didn't get to check out what happens between the missions. With that said, I don't think we'll be disappointed.

I also think that Electrosphere was the best of the series, but having played the Japanese version, the US version seems so watered down - that just went to show me that story played a BIG part in enjoying the game.

theres probably the single best reason for me to get this game.. hope it has the SU-35 with forward swept wings(think it was this plane.)

The Su-35 Super Flanker doesn't have swept forward wings. The Yellow Squadron flew Su-35s.

The S-37 Berkut has the swept forward wings.

The graphics are improved. Instead of a flat texture for an explosion or missile contrail in AC4, AC5 uses PS2's hardware particle effects.

Yellow Squadron used su37, s37 (different from sU37) berkut has forward swept wings, was never built, prototype built in '70s

Uh, no. Not in my opinion. And the F-14 is really more of a high altitude interceptor anyways. (well that's what it was designed to be :rolleyes:

) The best looking american jet is the F111 strike fighter. Which is out of comission

But my fav jet fighter is the Mig-29 Fulcrum. If you took one of those and put American Avionics and such in it, It would be the best fighter in the world.

And this game does look SWEET! I will be buying this one!

Thanks to Seito for correcting me. The Su-35 and 37 look exactly the same, my bad. The 37 has Thrust Vectoring.

The F-14 is one the most bad ass looking fighters. While it might be a long range interceptor, it doesn't need to dogfight, it can just take out bogies 100 miles away. If it needs too, it can dog fight with the best of them, due to the swing wings.

Even with upgraded avionics, the MiG-29 would be blown out of the sky before it could get a missile lock, IMO. Thrust vector fighters like the F/A-22, Su-37, and even it's rival, the F-16 (not thrust vector) can take out the MiG-29.

See, your reference to the F14 taking out bogies 100mi away is silly. Yes it can do that. But my point here is that ANY aircraft could do that. Just put the right radar and missles on it. That's also what i meant about the MIG29. If it had the latest American electronics, it would give all of our planes (except F22) a very good run for their money in the proper hands. And, i'll have to still put my money on the MIG if your talking about straight up Dog Fighting with guns. I don't see a Gigantic Tomcat out manuvering a Fulcrum. I may be wrong, but i'm putting my money on the MIG until proven wrong. And I state again the 29 is still way better looking.

ps. oh and the F15E Strike Eagle is Americas best looking current War Plane. But probably the coolest looking jet of all time is the F-104 Starfighter.

I hate the fact that even the JP version of AC5 has English dialogues! 👎
It looks so great though!!
(That is why I think that the JP 2-disc AC3 is the best.)

Most likely, we'll be given a choice, like in AC4 with landings. If you're not to sure, let the computer take over. If you're a real hot dog, you'll choose to do it manually.
