So I have noticed a lot of acronyms being thrown about here about cars in the game that I am too dumb to understand.

Can you all help me define them? Maybe we can put it in the FAQ thread.

EDIT: DTM: Duestche Touring Masters

EDIT: JGTC : Japanese Gran Turismo Championship

Group C Race Cars (not an acronym but would like definition)

EDIT: LMP: Le Mans Prototype

EDIT: LM: Le Mans

EDIT: LMS: Le Mans Series

EDIT: D1GP : is a production car drifting series from Japan

Any explanation and detail would be AWESOME.

Thanks People

What is PIT?

I don't mean the pit lane, but when the AI crashes into you and people refer to it as being PITTED, is this an acronym, or just a saying like "I'm damaged now and must pit".

Precision Immobilization Technique, Pursuit Immobilization Technique, Pursuit Intervention Technique, Push It Tough, Parallel Immobilization Technique, and Precision Intervention Tactic.

It's what cops use, when you put your from fender (right or left) on someones quarter panel and spin them.

Group C cars are le mans prototypes built before 1992 and after 1982. They are characterised by extremely high power and low weight. In GT5 group C cars are;

Peugeot 905 Race Car ‘92
Nissan R89C Race Car ‘89
Nissan R92CP Race Car ‘92
Toyota MINOLTA Toyota 88C-V Race Car ‘89
Mercedes-Benz Sauber Mercedes C9 Race Car ‘89
Jaguar XJR-9 LM Race Car ‘88
Mazda 787B Race car ‘91

never knew it had a name, uk police dont realy use it (it is deemed too dangerous for the public and the criminal)
Aha!! I think I learned this in a mission from one of the Grand Theft Auto games.

Thanks guys.
Love gta! but anyway I cant get this technique to work against gt5's
ai drivers no matter how hard i push they never spin !

FGT = Formula Gran Turismo - a mock F1 car made by PD for the GT games.

PD = Polyphony Digital

The "Group C" refers to the FIA regulations concerning the particluar series, in particular the differences between Group A/Group B/Group C was primarily how many cars needed to be built to Homologate the cars for the series.

Group A - 5000 examples, e.g. BMW M635csi/Rover Vitesse/Lancia Delta Integrale
Group B - 200 examples, e.g. Ford RS200/Lancia Delta S4
Group C - no limit, so teams were free to design anything they wanted.

After this a further Evolution model could be built for racing/rallying, where 10% more needed to be built, hence Ford Cosworth RS500 etc.
