I want to know how many people driving with and without active steering?

What do you think about using AS?

Do you think that is fair?

Nope. Never have used it. Would rather the car is in my control. There was a thread somewhere with what people use, ABS, TCS, Stability etc.

It's fair, only I prefer to drive without. I find it hard to correct oversteer with it. It feels like the AS wants to do it for you. That may sound ideal, but the result is that I overcorrect and land next to the track :O

If you rather drive with, feel free to do so 👍

P.S. Please post topics in appropriate section. Moved to main GT5:P section

I don't use active steering, you feel more in control without it.

I use no driving aids except for ABS which is set to 1.

I don't use it, just ABS = 1 for me. I think it's fair, if it is set to strong then the car can't oversteer so the handling will be bad. Anyways i auto correct, i.e, after turning a corner i automaticly countersteer. Even in FWD cars which means i crash them.

It helps keep the rear from sliding out. It keeps the car more stable. I use it strong.

you mean strong force feed back i presume...:sly:

spyrrari.

Thanks for the note, didn't know that without you've more control, will give it a try and tell you about it...

Turn it off for better accurate ride of your life. It really helps to have it off then ON for me.

I turned active steering and stability control off about halfway through the C events and never looked back.

I´ve never even tried using it, just like ASM. I usually go for no TC and no ABS aswell, allthough I do make exceptions.

I tried it once to see what it did and OMG what a load ####, It is like someone grabbing the steering wheel why you try to drive.

i can't believe anyone would use it as an aid, I can't see what benefit it gives you.

I have only used TCS & ASM in the past, but as time has gone by, I now use no aids apart from ABS 1.

Take for example online time triall (Suzuka/Blitz or Fuji/GT40)...

Try with and without AS and see time... Look at how much earlier you can squeeze full gas pedal...

For me, AS is the legal dopping.:)

I don't use it.

i've never even tried it, wasn't sure what it did. I play with G25, everything off except abs=1. From day 1 i've always had everything off. Only thing i used for a little while was power-assist steering when i was first drifting. After i got pretty decent i turned it off. :)👍

I've never tried it, so I don't know how it would act, but as others have said, I like having the car under control the highest way possible, and because of that all aids are off except for ABS, which is set to 1 because I haven't mastered threshold braking yet and don't feel comfortable with my driving enough.

Active steering is worthless in my opinion. Like others have said, it feels like someone else is trying to drive your car.

No AS for me. just ABS 1, and for the fastest cars, I'll throw in Traction Control @ 1. I plan to remove that soon though. Its going to take time.

what the hell does the as do , i got a g25 but never noticed ass doing anything when i have it turned on or off
active steering keeps the wheels pointed in the direction u wana go like steering assist. Imho its just there for beginers or babies that cant handle the wheel.

That's completely false. From wikipedia " Active steering is an automotive technology utilised by BMW which varies the degree that the wheels turn in response to the steering wheel. At lower speeds, this technology reduces the amount that the steering wheel must be turned -- improving performance in situations such as parking and other urban area traffic maneuvers. At higher speeds, the performance is such that steering becomes more responsive and provides improved directional stability. "

But not only BMW uses it. I drove a Infinity that had it.

Active steering in GT5P does not function the same thing. There is explanation on it in the 'manual' menu. Can't remember what it is but it is some sort of steering control to reduce excessive oversteer.

I drove with it a lot in GT5P at first when I was less smooth with my steering works, too heavy footed and always exited sideways (especially with high powered RWD cars). It improves my lap times initially as it helped me to exit corners nicely shaving my oversteers. But as soon as I got comfortable with my hand + footwork I never went back to it.

I would say it had helped me when I was a noob!:sly:
