someone was telling me that if u street race with an wrx it ****s up its all wheel drive system...is that true? (street race not ralley)
and another thing...i been thinking bout getting a new car...a subaru wrx sti or an acura RSX which would be better? and for what reasons would u pick one over the other for

Subaru - Plenty of power, not FF, sounds marvellous. BUT has to be serviced by Subaru, you've got to leave the engine running a minute after you arrive wherever you're going and is likely to get nicked for a ram raid, with massive insurance costs.

Acura RSX - Looks good, wouldn't know it's an FF, Honda's bulletproof reliability. But Honda's service costs, it IS an FF and it's probably white (yuck). And the insurance is nearly as bad.

Why would you want to street race? It's illegal.

The only thing a Subaru Impreza will "****" up in a traffic light drag would be it's clutch. Apparently, to launch it properly you need 5000rpm+. Try that a few times, and bye bye clutch (£450).

To allow the oil to circulate round the turbo and cool it down more efficiently. If you turn the power straight off, the oil stays in place and the heat radiates into the same few ml - which can cause it to actually solidify...

Keep it running for a minute, and there's no problem.

second of all..i dotn nkow why i want to street race...i want to supe up my car, so i can..bu, i guess i watch too many movies...guess theres no point of putting body kits and putting all that performance stuff in it if im not gunna race...unless i can get in the legal racing circuits i suppose

Exactly. Besides, if you get a STi, theres probably already enough performance for you, and no need to add modifications. Never, ever, buy a body kit for it.

yeah i know not for an impreza....but...lol i wanna work on a car...and i want to spend money for osme reason..do somethign from fast and duriose but there is really no point i guess

If you get a turbo timer you don't have to stay with your car while it's running to cool the turbo down. It will automatically shut your car off at the preset time you programmed into it.

As ugly as the STi is I'd choose it over the RSX in a heartbeat.

As a proud owner of the Integra I prefer the RSX, especially the Type-S, but then again, its all about the driver of the car on which will be comfortable with the car on a daily basis.
RSX and a STi? That a huge price gap, the best thing to compare between cars on your price range is between the Acura TSX and the Subaru Impreza 2.0 WRX.

Good drivers don't need AWD. In fact, I'm suprised that you're concerned about it because if that someone is a drift wannabe, he'd definitely turn it off.

In between the two cars, the RSX is more favorable mainly because of its visual appeal, while the exterior of the STi looks like a standing rabbit. For performance, however, the STi owns in both handling and power. Last I seen on a newspaper the STi costs 30,000 while the RSX is 10,000 less.

Btw, these things you heard are mainly for looks:

Intake system (before turbo)
5 inch muffler
Any bodykit with the exclusion of no body kits
White lights (not HIDs)
White blinkers
Clear taillights
Clear headlights
50 feet spoilers (mainly FF cars)

Hmm, more like a Ricer to me, unless you drive good.

Please obey the Terms of Service. Follow the link in my signature for the complete text, but here is the relevant portion:
  • No hard core profanity. Hard core meaning use of the "F"
word and words commonly associated with body parts.
Violating this rule will be considered grounds for suspension
and/or permanent removal from the board.
  • No slang words that promote laziness, ie; "r", "u", "plz", etc.
  • Half decent grammar is expected. Use of capital letters
starting sentences is looked upon favorably. Spelling
    half decently is also encouraged.

In the end, AWD is always better for getting a good launch off the line than any other. Granted, after a while, you will end up frying your clutch.

slvr200fdvspec ur so full of youself and you ricer ****...its sickning...quit talking smack about ****ty forieng cars wich use nitruos for horspower...damn honda/acura ****er

and yes im sorry for using profanity but someone needs to let em know they aint cool cuz they put a loud muffler and 20 inch rims on there honda or acura

and also slvr200fdvspec you must be an amateur...u dont want to burn out when ur drag racing u moron...it jsut takes time to spin ur wheels...it doesnt help you to burn out

Hmm. That was uncalled for.

Not only have I not seen slvr2000fdvspec talk about "ricing" a car, I have actually seen him fully anti-Honda (with all the illogical arguments therein). Whereas you, in this very thread, have talked about GETTING an Acura and modifying it!

he was talking all like hah try burning out and in the other furoms hes liek nitrous etc , but yeah im sorry...im not in a good mood today very bad...feel liek hurting somone..beeting the ****t outta soeone

and anyone thats human will understand that when ur angry u dont think before you speak...but my comment still stands about being an ametuer and his "standing brunout" statement

..... This has to be the easiest choice I've ever made.

2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STi

First off, any sort of drag racing, a bone stock STi vs RSX Type S, the STi will win, easy. 100 more horsepower, 156 more foot pounds of torque, and AWD will place the STi far ahead of the Honda. What does the Honda pull as far as the quarter mile? 13.2 seconds for the STi. Modifying them may be a different story... Keep the STi the same, and give about $10k to the RSX for modifications could make it as fast as the STi, but I'm guessing it wouldn't have Honda's reliability factor.

I also imagine the clutch would be the first to go. But after repeated stress on the drivetrain, I imagine something else would break. I heard a loud and scary thunk in the rear differential when I launched my 2.5RS at 6,000 rpms (a one time thing, and no one else will ever see it again). Flywheel, possibly? Not sure how durable those things are. Anyway, it wouldn't be suggested.

Handling? I imagine STi would easily win there as well.

Styling? For me, I love the STi.

I found that there is very little to do with a new car. Buy something older, it will cost a lot more, but you could do much more to it. Also a car that your passionate about.

Well, I'm not a fan of the RSX however, I have seen them make some quite impressive numbers, if you're talking about a standard EJ20 WRX, and NOT A STi which i'm not sure if you know which is which, but i've personally seen 5 WRX's get ruined in a street race/track race, just from launching at some substantial RPM and lettiing off the clutch to fast...First one I saw was White, and was completly stock, on a very easy to get traction on road (Pour + pack street, where tey pour asphault and rocks, and the public who drives on it is expected to smooth it.) So the rocks were still there and would provide for good launches, but it just crapped out right there at the line....As for RSX's...I just don't like them, because they replaced the integra so to speak. I don't see how that car can replace the integra, even if it IS a good car....That's like Discontinuing mustangs, and making some new car that COULD be better given the aftermarket grows...but stock vs stock isn't up to par.
