Adaptive mods for a wheel set up

Yep I am a nub/newbie etc to the forum, and I get it, no runs on the board and ya probs may think ive just joined to ask a question then run off never to be seen again, however, this is my first post of many I can assure you

My questions is, does anyone have any info around running a wheel with one pedal (preferably assigned throttle) with a hand control mod on the wheel for a brake that isn't an off/off switch?

The why I ask, I lost half a leg when I was a teenager (poor choices on a bike), currently I run an edge controller with VR2 or on my AW32QF, im not slow doing this, but when I go wheel pedal set up I lose a few seconds because im using my left foot to operate both the brake and pedal

I am at the tipping point of wanting to take my racing next level, but I need the mod/setup to do it

Any thoughts on how I can get away with one pedal and a wheel mod? Ive done quite a bit of looking around and nothing is jumping off he page screaming pick me

Anyhoo, thought id throw it out there, happy to be roasted, all feedback is welcome, im a reddit user so I have a teflon personality online

I am not sure if it is at all possible but the McLaren wheel from Fanatec had analog paddles, if this could be assigned in game as the brake this may suite your needs, i dont have one so cant test it.
Otherwise you may have to look at an adapter like a Drive hub and some custom pedal/button assignments.

I am not sure if it is at all possible but the McLaren wheel from Fanatec had analog paddles, if this could be assigned in game as the brake this may suite your needs, i dont have one so cant test it.

Thanks for the welcome and thoughts. Thats a really interesting idea whether GT7 on PS5 recognises those analogue paddles and then would let me assign to the brake, I dont have the wheel either, hmmm but I could defs hunt around and see what I can find out 👍

And maybe drive hub would let map the analogue paddle to the brake if GT7 wouldn't, hmmm another idea worth investigating 👍

Of course the challenge here is finding out without having either 🙂

The only alternative I can think of - and this won't be pretty - is to take the brake pedal apart mount the pedal as a whole unit (minus the spring) on the plate that the wheel sits or on the side of the wheelbase, steering one handed. Alex Zanardi had something similar.

As an alternative, Ali Express do PS5 compatible hall sensor joysticks, you could solder that into the sensor on the brake pedal and mount it top of the wheel spoke.

The issue with the last option is that you'll need to leave enough wire at the wheel end so that it can wrap around the column at least four times (hence the ugly bit).

Oh yeah, geez what BMW did for him was Jedi level, they basically reinvented/reengineered the controls around him instead of him adapting to the car, real next level stuff !!

I like ya idea of destroying a pedal and rewiring it up top, I am going to deep dive this one, as its downsides in failure is relatively cheap as long as im pulling apart cheap, and cheap is what ive got now as my confidence to use a wheel/pedal combo was low but wanted to give it a go so
