I've done a solid 1000KM on SS7, and I'm starting to get pretty bored of it, due to the lack of scenery and the track in general... I'm now getting ideas about adding more freeways, such as one's around Osaka and some real Wangan tracks, ranging from C1 to the Wangan itself. I'd certainly like more, as a Wangan Midnight fan...

Now, they're is a lot of layouts for Freeways around Japan, I don't want as many to clog up the game, but i think they should add the location "Wangan" and make around 5 to 10 different layouts for it!

What do you think?

Wow 1000 KM? I have to admit I only did 2 or 3 laps there to test the top speed of my Veyron, but found it pretty dull right away. Never went back to that track anymore.

Yes, I'd like to see many more of them too. There's not only the Wangan in Tokyo (aka Tokyo Shuto Expressway Route B/Bayshore Route), however. There are many more winding, challenging expressways in the area that could be added. I feel however that PD doesn't want to promote illegal racing (which has been a big problem on such roads in the past - and still is), so instead of real expressways we'd see instead fictional ones. Special Stages in the GT series are based on the Tokyo Shuto Expressway network, if you watch some videos on Youtube you can catch many uncanny similarities.

PD could expand the concept and create a fictional GT city/metropolis based on Expressways and famous landmarks around Tokyo and make several layouts out of that. There already are Special Stages Route 5, 7, and 11 (not in GT5 though). What about including the missing numbers? And making new layouts connecting one of more of them together (by the way, if you've noticed, in GT5 the SSR5 tunnel there's a closed junction to SSR7, maybe hinting to something similar in the future) ?

Its cool for testing top speed and having a drafting session, or even a drag race with friends, but as a race track it's pretty poor. I would rather they added a Drag Stip and a top speed record test than more motorways.

Not all Tokyo expressways are like the Wangansen/SSR7 in GT5. I think this is a more representative example:

Personally I would like to see more of this in GT.
By the way, the road in the video above (Shuto Expressway C1) can be partially seen in the GT5 opening and ending movies as real life footage.

SS7 looks like something from the discount bin compared to that ^

I agree that SSR7 in GT5 is excessively poor graphically, with a too much bland and sparse scenery. It looks incomplete.
If it's been made to resemble the real Bayshore route (I'm sure that was their intention), PD didn't do a good job.

Here's an example from the real deal:

The really complex Special stage from GT2/GT3 would be nice to bring back. Also the small tracks from GT4/Infineon and El capitan. I'd like to see alot of tracks brought back and/or new ones to go with them. Plus the Vegas drag strip, with an online set up for actual drags; instead of just bring you fastest crap start on 3 zoom.(I don't drag but it would be nice to have legit set up, then maybe I'd bust out my Chevelle.)

I'm not really familiar with touge but regardless I think additional tracks would be nice. Although I've added alot of tracks with track genorater it's just the same scenery with different layouts.(Still some made some awsome circuits for my FGT)

driving on highways in japan only seems cool because you can drive them in real life in your real life car then get home and drive a 1200hp pimped-out veyron. to everybody else thats boring as ****. i drove ss7 once in a 992hp 02 viper. did two of the 5 laps and quit before i fell alseep. if you want some real top speed highways. PD should go to montana in the US or alberta here in canada. where a 2 lane highways goes straight and flat for 20-40km without a single bend, bump or hill; and the scenery, just blue sky and gold wheat fields for hundreds of kilometers. that sounds like so much fun!!!

Driving on the city expressways in Japan is such a bore. Bumpy as **** on the elevated ones and always tons of traffic. I like the ones out in the country though, I've done over 140mph in a 350z out there passing mountains, rice fields and express trains :)

Anyone ever played Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 3, it feels much, much better than the loneliness of SS7.

They might as well model the sterling highway here in AK, then because it at least has a lot of tight twisty sections with a 2 to 4 mile straight on it. And the forestry, rivers, and other scenery is breathtaking at some places. Flat and straight? pleh.
Tight and twisty with elevation changes and a long straightaway and beautiful scenery? What's more to want?!
(I still find it funny that there's an Alaska environment in the course maker and I can't recognize any of the mountains in it. It definitely isn't around the Matanuska-Susitna Valley, Denali National Park, Glennallen, Anchorage, Valdez, Seward, Soldotna, Kenai, Fairbanks, or Homer )

I definitely like the idea. Used to love to cruise my virtual mr2 mkii around in Tokyo extreme racer back on my dreamcast after doing the same thing in my real one down here in Florida by Gandy. Also loved the midnight touge and downhill drifts in GRID even though my DFGT hates that game.

When I was reading some of kaz's tweets it seems like this would be something he may be hinting at with his free roaming ideas. Although I don't think we'll be seeing that much of a game changer till gt6. I for one have my fingers crossed.

Maybe this time around I'll wait till the game comes out before I buy the ps4 for it.....

A highway battle mode would be a nice addition to online too. If you guys want top speed stuff, The Autobahn and a Nardo track would be awesome.

SS7 is one of the most boring tracks in GT5 IMO, no more please.

That's cause you don't "get it".

Anyone else see the extended ending video for GT5? Started with a lap around the Nurburgring, which was cool. But then after that it showed a whole bunch of the Wangan, many locations I recognized from Tokyo Xtreme Racer. 👍

Wonder if PD has something up their sleeve? Why would they show that footage if they weren't using it for something?

Yamauchi stated in his latest Famitsu interview that (in short) he put footage of Tokyo expressways to show to the world the unique scenery they provide especially at night and their layout (intricate fast roads running in the middle of a big metropolis) hard to be found anywhere else.

@NOS Waster i was being sarcastic... driving in a straight line like that for 40kms would be worse than the tsukuba-miata enduro. bending hilly roads are the best!!! thats why the Nurburgring is ssoooo addicting.

you should drive the Don Valley Parkway (DVP) in Toronto, Canada. its a highway that runs north-south through the city. so i dont buy that "hard to be found anywhere else" business. he lives in japan loves japan and drives around in those roads all the time so he knows they exist. there are probably some really cool roads in every single country on earth where somebody has driven on it fast and thought "this road would be a wicked race track for a video game"
