As most of you probably have noticed, version 2.0 made it possible to adjust the slipstream with a weak and strong option. Which of those two is the same as we had in the game before the update? I find the weak option to be pretty similar to how it used to be in version 1.13 or has it actually been reduced?

I race NASCAR at Daytona all the time and between me and the rest of my NASCAR friends, we have come to the conclusion that the strong setting has been toned down quite a bit from what the regular draft was before. It is more realistic now. The weaker draft is almost non existant at Daytona. Both settings lead to alot better racing at Daytona. Thats the only track I can speak for as that is the place where I spend most of my time.

Yeah I'm doing the 24 hours Le Mans enduro, and the drafting is really mitigated for the better.

It makes it seem so much more realistic now, and makes the sensation of chasing someone down a lot more fun.👍

I have not tried strong (I don't think I ever will if it's stronger than weak), but weak is heavily reduced from pre 2.0 levels. It's now something that belongs in a simulation. I can no longer just line up behind someone and fly past them.

And thats the way it should be. Glad to see that over exaggerated draft gone. Racing is more realistic now. At Daytona, it keeps the bad drivers in the back of the pack now as they can no longer hang on to the draft and go flying by you at the last minute, most times causing an accident or pile up at the finish line. I love it.

The weak setting is much more realistic, the strong is the same as it was pre 2.0

I have been racing online with the weak setting and it's now only possible to pass someone using slipstream on a huge straight and it takes a long time. No longer can you follow a faster car around the track by staying behind it.

I had an online race today with some GTP regulars, me in a 07 WRX and they had Evo 6's and the like and I was able to easily pull away as my car was faster. Pre 2.0 they would have kept passing me on the straights and I would keep having to re-pass them causing a yoyo effect which is very irritating and unrealistic.

Beleive the strong is similar to pre 2.0, weak means you can catch up a little on a car not blast past it on a straight.

Exactly,it's definitely more realistic after this patch, thanks PD!

The weakened slipstream effect is for me the most important update/fix of spec 2. Online racing is actually racing now as you can't just tag along with the leading car even if he is seconds faster than you. I even tried NASCAR racing at Indy with Sport Soft tyres and it's now actually interesting with the new slipstream physics. It's also great that you lose aero grip when close to another car.

I would've maybe made a 0-10 slider instead of the simple weak/strong setting, but it's really not a big deal. Well done PD. :)

And I think they should remove the adjust ability on it, just remove the strong. They do have a saying underneath their GranTurismo logo saying: The Real Driving Simulator. You cant adjust slipstream in Real life ;)

Agreed Erik.

The weak setting is great for online, The best driver will win now!

And that is how it should be. The best driver with the best setup. If I'm going to get beat, I want to get beat by another driver who is better than me with a better setup, not by some 14 year old kid hanging on by the skin of his teeth, in an over exaggerated draft, then flying by like he's done something great. This is a great step in the right direction. I actually like racing online again.

Yea, I used to love online Karting but gave it up because I got fed up with the race being destroyed by the mad slipstreaming, it used to really annoy me. If you fell off the pack, your race would be over as they just go around the track in a group all towing each other and even if you were the quickest driver, you'd never catch um as they'd have 10mph on ya all the way round the track which is a massive gain...even on the most basic of track.

I decided to join a Karting room last night though and the racing was so much better, you only got a couple of mph tow when right up behind another Kart and if he was a quicker driver, you'd eventually lose him and his draft. So much more realistic and raceability. Now I'm so excited about the new Karting material coming out on Tuesday aswell as the Spa track :)

Having a strong setting makes GT no less of a sim. It was not having a weak setting that was the problem.

I feel that the draft is reduced in A-spec also. I just did the 4 hours at the ring again and this time I wasn't able to hold on to the faster cars down dottinger like I could before.

The last time I raced it I was able to stay behind a much faster car down the straight by using the draft. I easily gained 20 mph in the draft. In Spec 2 I was only able to get 10 mph or so and he drove away. As soon as he was 7 or 8 car lengths ahead my speed dropped back to normal.

I also do some kart racing and in the "old days" the karts had a wicked draft (which I thought was ludicrous). Now there is hardly any draft at all.
