Yes, A One Pixel Border Action!

Just unzip the .atn file to: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 7.0\Presets\Photoshop Actions

This action my have some incompatibility problems with older Photoshops.

How To Use It
- Once extracted the .atn file, follow these steps
attachment.php
Create a new layer on top of everything else.
attachment.php
Open the Actions Palette, To do this : Choose Window > Actions, or click the Actions palette tab if the palette is visible but not active ( Actions is with History and Tool Presets )
attachment.php
Locate the Action Folder in the Actions Palette called One Pixel Border, click the purple down arrow to the left of the One Pixel Border title. The Black Border action will have appeared below, select it. Look to the bottom of the actions palette and click the triangle that looks like a play button.

Site back and enjoy – this easy action saves you time and effort.

You took a lot of time to make that so people can put a one-pixel border on their images.

I can border an image in less time than it takes to use an action.

You even made special images for this--spiffy!

So basically this makes a quick "pattern" so i don't have to use the marquee method anymore?

Well I had to make a method to work at everysize of work. - I don't know how to use variables in actions if you can.

Its not a pattern, just click the purple arrow by the action and open up all the commands it does, or do you want me to make an image to list what it does? I am bored.

Well you can't use that method as an action because theres a variable the size.

What it does is, fills the new layer with black.
Selects itself and moves the selection down 1px and across 1px so one horizontal and one vertical side have a one px border.
Then it copies the layer flips the new layer horizontally and vertically then merges it with the other two sides of the border.

Yes Klos, I originally used your method but I suck and it took too long, and this way normally takes ages but as an action as fast as you computer can do it.

Wow. Amazing.

It's true, you have too much time and are therefore a geek.

meez g0in back to CoUnTeR-StRIke!!1

:)

That's a nifty method. Why didn't you incorporate the making of a new layer into the action itself. That would save you a step and even more time!

You've persuaded me to use this action.

Race Idiot just said you can go Edit > Stroke - It rules you can even change the colour, you learn something everyday. I don't think I'll use the action anymore it sucks, how bout you now Klos?

Oh and is CoUnTeR-StRIke uBe|2 material!

I think I've used stroke before but it doesn't stroke the corner pixels. There will be four non-stroked pixels I believe.

Or maybe I'm thinking of something else.

Or we could all bypass the problem by using Fireworks MX and its awesome incorporated vector/bitmap tools! w00t!

Right?

Who uses Fireworks? Those people are silly, although Jordan does and he's not silly.

And with stroke there has to be something on the layer.

Right?

Yeah, and we could all go out and spend a hundreds of dollars on an MacOS upgrade.

But we won't because we aren't all crazy. I think.

DOWN WITH FIREWORKS!AND SAGE.

You really want to get this thread closed don't you? - Don't worry I don't care, it might be my first closed thread.

But Fireworks kicks ass. It really does. And hell, I got the whole Studio MX for an education discount price of 100 bucks.

No, why would I get it closed? I like this thread. If the action works, I'm going to assign it to a function key and really save time.

The easy way:
1. Create a new layer.
2. Hit Ctrl+A to select the entire image.
3. Go to Edit>Stroke and set it to a black 1 px inner border. It's alot easier than what he's suggesting...

I'm going to remake it so it makes the layer as well, all for me. And yes to save more time I'll also asign it.

Jpec this is easier, just asign it to a key and its even faster beat that!!

If anyone wants me to personally kick ALPHA's arse then please pm me and when he moves his arse to Auckland I'll get to the kicking.

👍

What's the point in having an action? If you doubleclick the layer and select inside stroke 1px you get a 1 pixel border no matter what the image size is. Including corners ...

Edit: Then you can copy the effect into styles, and with one click of the mouse button you have a 1px stroked layer - no matter what size or shape... And it takes less than a second.
